Gooooood afternoon!!
Well the shower was a success! Yesterday afternoon, I made the fruit salad so it was all ready to go today. The final mix contained:
- Red grapes
- Green grapes
- Strawberries
- Pineapple
- Mandarin oranges
- Marshmallows

After:

I took some help from the grocery store with the canned pineapple and mandarin oranges because well, I wanted to, and have you ever even seen a mandarin orange in real life? Are they just clementines? It’s a true mystery… Anyways, I got the kinds that are packed in their own juices and not syrup, so I don’t feel too bad ;) I have sooo much left too – I’ll be eating fruit salad for weeks!

Then, I made the egg casserole. Per your suggestions, I went with the Spring Asparagus Strata! It was sooo good guys – and really easy to make. Although – the 10 cups of bread the recipe calls for = two loaves of bread – wowza! Also, I ended up including the mushrooms that the recipe called for, becuase it would have been selfish of me to leave them out just because I don’t like ‘em… We also had some mini quiches and an egg casserole with meat – all three options were soo tasty!
Other food items included bran muffins that my friend’s sister makes – they are to-die-for moist - iced sugar cookies in the shapes of little baby rattles, bottle, etc – ugh, so cute and so delicious, I could have eaten 10 – and for dessert we had some of my friends’ mom’s famous Choclate Mayo cake!! There’s some ingredients in the frosting and cake besides mayo that I’d rather not think about when I’m eating it, so I didn’t, and it was soooo good!! Literally the icing is like eating sweet, sweet buttah….MMMMM!

Here are some pictures of the shower – it was so much fun to all be together! My friend is the first one of us girls to have a baby, so it was really special!

Little baby sized suit – have you ever seen anything so adorable???

Well the wrapping paper is thrown away, the dishes are in the dishwasher, and I’m full
Yep, I had a healthy portion of everything we served…I had to make sure it all tasted right!!! I’m off to the wedding shower in a couple of hours and it’s just a BEAUtiful day out today, so I think I’ll go relax on the deck for awhile
I need to conserve energy – there’s a margarita machine making an appearance tonight!!
What are everyone’s plans for the rest of the weekend? Anyone celebrating Easter with their families? If so, what are your Easter traditions? My brothers and I are all in our mid-upper 20′s and…yes, we still get Easter baskets!!!
ps I joined Twitter – follow me, why don’t you?

Everything looks great! I like the fruit salad – sounds like a good one to have in the fridge during the week. I could eat fruit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Heading to my parents’ house for Easter with my hubby and the dog – my mom makes dinner, and I always handle dessert. We are having strawberry cupcakes w/ strawberry filling and cream cheese icing (and I will be hitting the elliptical for a few extra hours this week!).
Hope you have a wonderful Easter!
aww sounds like you had a blast!!
awesome fruit salad too!
Baby showers are fun. It seems like everyone I know is pregnant or has a little baby now – like it’s contagious or something. A bunch of the girls from my high school class (or the wives of my male classmates) are pregnant. I graduated high school 10 years ago – seems like a popular time to have a baby.
AH I love fruit salad! I’ve never seen marshmallows added in though.. I have to try that sometime. You’re food all looks so amazing.. I love your blog! I just added you to my reader =) Hope you’re having a great weekend!
