Iowa Girl Eats Does Alaska?

Ok – so not to booooore you, but I had fig oatmeal again this morning!  I just really do love figs and you have to understand that I had been looking for them for such a long time, and now that I’ve found them I can’t just abandon them!! Today instead of brown sugar though, I drizzled some maple syrup over the whole bowl…oh golly it was crazy good. Even better than yesterday…what a way to start the day!

For lunch I packed an oldie, but a goodie – PB&J. Actually it was AB&J because I used my last packet of Barney Butter for the “PB” portion! I use Smucker’s sugar free raspberry jelly too – it’s really, really good.

Sidekicks included a Braeburn apple and a Jell-O sugar free rice pudding cup! One of my roommates in college was o-b-sessed with Cozy Shack rice pudding but I haven’t found the individual servings of those yet. Just the big tub – and if I had the big tub, I’d eat it all in one sitting so I stick to the Jell-O version!

So last night I got sucked into watching the show “Out of the Wild: The Alaska Experiment” on the Discovery Channel:

…nine ordinary Americans are stranded near Tsusena Butte, Alaska, hundreds of miles from the nearest town…a reality series about people who trek back to civilization from the interior of the 49th state…

Basically it’s people like you, me, your mom, my dad, umm, your dentist – just ordinary Joes and Janes that get stranded in Alaska (in the dead of winter, not in idealic conditions like the picture above!) and have to find their way back to civilization… COOL!!! Maybe it’s because I was watching from the comfort of my warm home and slanket, but this looked awesome. Sort of The Amazing Race meets Man vs Wild (I love you Bear Grylls.) Anyways, I think this might be another reality show that I’m going to get sucked into…dang, just what I need!

I know this sounds crazy coming from the girl that hates cold, wind and rain…but don’t you guys think the Alaska Experiment sounds like the perfect adventure? Or do you think it sounds like another crazy reality show? If you HAD to/could pick one reality show to be on, what would it be? I’d pick The Amazing Race! Ben said he won’t try out with me though because if he caused us to get booted from the show he’d feel like he let me down for the rest of his life :( Maybe I’ll ask my mom…

I am embarrassed to admit that I am a reality show addict…. I have never heard of/seen the Alaska show though. I would also LOVE to be on the Amazing Race. It seems like it would be such an awesome experience.

I’m 99.9% sure the Wal-mart out by Jordan Creek has the individual Kozy Shack pudding cups if you ever make it out that direction.

Kristin! I too love Barney Butter – though I actually get “Almond Butter’ from Trader Joes. You can actually by discounted 3-packs of Barney Butter on Amazon Grocery for about $23 – and free shipping if you spend $25 on Amazon. Great deal! Love the blog btw!

Your lunch looks a lot like my breakfast! I’ve never heard of that show, but I love Alaska. My college roommate was from Fairbanks and I visited her family once. It’s a beautiful state.
