Good morning!
No evil cat fights to report from last night – phew!
Did anyone happen to catch The Office last night? Seriously, that was one of the best episodes I’ve seen in a really long time. You’ve got to watch it on Hulu if you didn’t see it…beginning and ending segments were AWEsome and probably a blast to film. What a job, eh?
So, ROAD TRIP!!! Yahhh!! You may recall a post from last week where I told you I picked up a couple of Snuggies at Bed Bath & Beyond for a reason to be revealed at a later date. Well, it’s that later date. Today I’m headed for Chicago and tomorrow I’ll be attending Chicago Snuggie Pub Crawl 2K9!!

It’s true! I’ll be joining 2,500 other Snuggie lovers decked in out in their Snuggie color of choice (mine’s blue!) for the entire afternoon in Lincoln Park! Can you imagine?? It’s going to be like the pod people or something! There’s going to be bands, drink specials and yes, even closing ceremonies. Parts of the proceeds are even going to charity, so I had to go, right??

In addition to the pub crawl, I’m also going to see my buds
I try and make it to Chicago to see my friends up there it least every couple of months. It’s a really great city – so much to do, beautiful lake front running paths, fabulous EATS – I just love visiting. Here’s a picture from a visit last year:

I think it’s important to have a plan regarding healthy habits whenever you are taken out of your everyday routine. My plan is to not eat unnecessarily and yes, I am going to a pub crawl, but I’m not planning on drinking excessively. That’s just gross, makes me feel gross and although yes – I am very young – try telling my body that after a night out on the town!
To get myself fueled for the grueling 5.5 hour drive, I took some inspiration from On a Lobster Placemat and a dessert recipe I saw yesterday and made: S’more Oats!!
My bowl contained:
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- Handful of honey teddy grahams
- 1 T chocolate chips
- 1 T marshmallows

HOLY cow what a combo! Bust out the crappy tent, the bug spray and a campfire, because I was in s’more heaven! This was really delish – more like a dessert than a breakfast – but hey, I’m ok with that! Ben ended up going to a friends’ house for dinner last night, so I had his spare salmon salad left over that I packed for a healthy lunch option on the road. If I didn’t have the salad, I would most likely get a subway or a Wendy’s salad – both great on-the-go healthy options!

So road trip = sporadic, if any, posting – I know, I’m bummed!!! I’m going to bring my laptop along and try and post randomly if I can. If not, I’ll post a full recap of the weekend’s festivities on Sunday!
Alright friends, I’m off! Wish me luck and tell me what you’re doing this weekend! Got any fun plans to look forward to? Laundry? Errands? Shopping? Let’s hear it!

SMOREs oats are the best! I’ve made a variation before too but never one that included teddy grahams! Genius!!
That oatmeal looks great! I’m typically not a big oatmeal fan, but you may have converted me!
Have a fantastic time in Chicago – sounds like a blast!
Hey lady!
We missed you at the party last night! Thank you for sending the cookies with Ben – they looked absolutely devine! Unfortunately, being allergic to fun (wheat) I couldn’t sample them but they were eaten in less than 10 minutes so I know they were good.
Have fun with the snuggie-crawl and take lots of pictures!

This weekend I am going to Universal! It should be fun
I am definitely going to make some smores oatmeal next week. That looks super delish!
I’ve seen commercials for Snuggies. I’ve always wondered about them. I bet they’re comfie. What’s the Snuggie meet-up?
Kristin, you are too funny (in a great way) with your trip to Chicago for the Snuggie Pub Crawl–I love your spontaneity! I actually live in Lincoln Park, so if I see the massive Snuggie mob, I will try to pick you out. But how will I know what you’re wearing?!

Most enjoyable DMR read since Donald Kaul; different, but the same (please save your comments on this contradictory statement…I know already). I’d like to see your ‘take’ on “Taste of Chicago 2010″ and Millenium Park on a hot summer day. I think you’d like it.
