Good morning everyone! Happy Monday!
Well I had an AWESOME time at the Snuggie Pub Crawl in Chicago! The weather was picture perfect on both Friday and Saturday! I absolutely love big cities when it’s warm out – everybody is outside enjoying themselves, they’re happy – it’s just great. On Friday evening we had reservations at Uncle Julios – a fabulous Mexican restaurant where they make homeade tortillas in plain view - it was so cool! We all got some of their famous “Swirl” margaritas which is thier blended margarita swirled with sangria…SO good!! For dinner a friend and I split a cheese enchilada platter. Enchilada sauce is what I think makes or breaks an enchilada – and Uncle Julio’s did NOT disappoint!

The rest of the weekend was filled with more good eats, good drinks and great time spent with friends. Oh, and SNUGGIES!!!

We saw some insane Snuggie creations during the our time at the Snuggie Pub Crawl! Mermaid snuggies, business suits made out of snuggies, hippie snuggies, 80′s snuggies, someone wearing a snuggie with a giant bear mascot head…people got dekked OUT!! It was great people watching for sure! We got to sit outside at a lot of the pubs on the crawl – and it was just fantastic. Chicago was sad to see us go, as it poured all day yesterday!
Oh!! When I got home yesterday, I walked in to find an INCREDIBLE surprise on my kitchen counter…2 jars of Barney Butter!!!! My fabulous parents talked to the manager of a grocery store here in town and convinced them to order a box of the crunchy AND the creamy kind!!! Isn’t that the nicest thing you’ve ever heard?! The manager said if they sell well, he may keep ordering them – can you imagine?! Thanks Mom and Dad – you guys are the best!!!! Oh, FYI – I immediately ripped open the chunky kind to try because I’ve only had smooth – and it was sooooo good.

I didn’t have time to go to the grocery store yesterday after I got home (second weekend in a row – I feel so out of my routine!!! ) so I didn’t have any banans for oatmeal. Instead I had a Strawberry Pomegranite Odawalla bar and a sliced apple with the chunky barney butter for breakfast. The apple and BB was just amazing…perfect combo of sweet and salty! I wasn’t wild about the Odawalla flavor – the strawberry was very fake sugary tasting. I did like the texture though – very seedy and crunchy

For lunch, I’m going to grab something at the cafeteria. I’ll let you know what I pick tonight.
Welcome back to the work week people – hope you have a great day!
ps OH.MY.GOSH. I just looked on weather.com…it’s supposed to be EIGHTY NINE degrees here on Thursday?!?!? Are you kidding me?? I am so psyched!! I see outdoor runs in my future!!
Do you guys like working out in the heat, or would you rather be in an air conditioned gym? Call me crazy, but I absolutely love running in hot, sticky weather!

Hahahah, what a blast!!!!!
Which grocery store?! Almond butter sounds yummy
I am so not a hot weather fan when it comes to running. I’ll do other activities, but I find I get tired really easy when the weather is too hot. Having said that, I live in Canada so the weather isn’t usually too, too hot. The highest it’s been was in the 90s, but there’s usually a nice breeze.
Almond butter is fantastic!
That’s hysterical! Looks like a good time
LOVE the snuggie pics! Wish I could have been there!
I know that you are looking forward to the warm weather, but I absolutely hate it!! I wish that it would stay in the 70′s all year!! I live in Chicago and the summers here can get way too hot for me, but I am sure that with you living in Iowa is pretty similar, but I wish that the weather would stay cooler!!
The snuggie pub crawl looks SO fun. I want a snuggie so bad!!
I have been dying to try Barney Butter but can’t find it ANYWHERE up here in Canada. That is SO nice of your parents!!!
The Barney Butter is at the West Lakes Hy-Vee on 74th and University in West Des Moines. It is in the Health food section by the peanut butters and other almond butters – I think on the bottom shelf:)
I’d take working out outside rather than in the gym any day!
The Barney Butter sounds delicious – I need to see if I can find that around here. Sounds like your trip was great!
The Snuggies look hilarious.
I like working out when it’s warm. I grew up running at 5 PM all year long. I’ve run when it was 115 degrees out – I wouldn’t recommend that. That being said, I think running in 65-75 degree whether is about perfect.
Emilie: It’s at the 74th St Hy-vee in WDM!
Alison: Ok, you win…115 DEGREES?! Holy cow – you go girl!
lol the snuggie commercial is so creepy…also those falafel balls look amazing! i have to try
You are so freakin’ cute. You made a blog on falafel, which only you would do. However, you did not blog about the fantastic Kashi bar we both agreed was amazing. What will it TAKE for me to get a food cameo on your blog?
FYI – I did go to Culvers on Sunday night (naughty) and got a one-scoop sundae (Snickers and Cookie Dough toppings). For some reason, you are having a big impact on my food choices lately…one scoop sundaes, Larabars, etc.
P.S. Have you ever tasted Fiber One Honey Clusters cereal? Excellent with vanilla light soy milk, or regular skim. Try it if you want to throw a curveball into your oatmeal routine.
MUAH! Snuggie 4 eva! Went for a 6 mile run today! L.G.
