Good morning – er…almost afternoon?!
I woke up this morning around 9:30 and decided to flip on the television…I don’t usually watch tv in bed, but the History Channel’s special on the “Black Blizzard” was too exciting to pass up:
“Take a front row seat on a period of U.S. history from 1930-1940 when America’s heartland was ravaged by a weather phenomenon that became known as a “black blizzard.” Discover how these phenomena form, what they’re made of, and how they affect people’s health and the environment. Hear the story of the people who refused to leave their land and learn the history of the Great Plains and how it came to be settled.”

Basically it was about the dust bowl made up of Kansas, Oklahoma and north Texas in the 1930′s-40′s and how dust blizzards killed thousands of people, livestock and destroyed any and all agriculture. Fascinating stuff! Ok, wake up! History lesson over!
After the show I decided I needed some carb-y fuel, so I made Banana Bread Pancakes! Today, though, I left out the walnuts. These seriously, seriously taste like banana bread – but they’re a lot better for you – you’ve got to try them!

Oh! The party last night was so beautiful – the catering was amazing, talk was good, champagne toast was also fun
I left Ben and the boys there to take care of the open bar and came home early to catch up on some rest. As a result, I feel fantastic today! It’s raining right now, but I think I’m going to try and get a run in, in between storms later today. We’re also headed over to Ben’s parent’s house for a late lunch – his little brother was home from college for the weekend!
Do you guys have any weird “things”? Mine’s history – I could watch it/read about it all day! Any weird collections, obsessions, interests out there?!

Yum – amazing pancakes! have a great run today!
Oh my gosh, pancakes are the best!
Oooh I will definitely have to try those! I’m stuck in a pancake rut, so this will help!
Those look and sound great! Can you post the recipe?
