Good morning guys! Hope you’re excited about the Blogiversary Giveaway!
My mom and I attempted our morning walk, but about 15 feet out the door, it started raining – so we headed home
It’s supposed to be raining for the majority of this week, so it looks like it’s a gym week for me! I actually haven’t been there in awhile since I’ve been taking advantage of the gorgeous weather we’ve been having – so I’m not too bummed.

For breakfast this morning I made some Mixed Dried Fruit Oatmeal. The dried fruit was made up of: apricots, apples and prunes (no, I’m not 90, they are awesome!
) however, this bowl was a liiiiiittle of a stretch for me. Here’s why:
- I made the bowl with 1 cup of water instead of 1/2 cup water + 1/2 cup skim milk so it wasn’t as creamy as I’m used to
- The dried fruit I used tasted amazing eaten by itself, however, it was a little sour in my oatmeal
I ended up eating the dried fruit bits by themselves and then eating the oatmeal with the banana bites together. These parts when together = not so good, when enjoyed separately = a good bowl of oats!

For lunch, I continued with the fruit theme - I packed a broccoli slaw + mixed greens salad, topped with a chopped Braeburn apple and my last Bosc pear! I will absolutely be picking more of these guys up at the store – they were great! I also packed an Italian dressing + soy sauce mixture to toss with the salad – you guys, the savory saltiness of the dressing, mixed with the sweet and crunchy salad is out of this world! Incidentally this salad would also make a great coleslaw if I were to just shred the apple and pear!

Rounding out my fruit quota for the day is a bunch of red grapes. I love grapes so much – they are the absolute perfect snack. Portable, crunchy, no mess, healthy and fun to eat!

Ok, off to start my day! I hope you guys have an amazing Monday, don’t forget to enter up to 3 times for the One Month Blogiversary Giveaway!
Question: What’s your favorite website? I think mine is MSN.com. I like to make sure I’m keeping up on all the news!!

All of my friends make fun of me for eating prunes, but they’re SO DELICIOUS! Your bowl of oats looks really good, even if it didn’t taste that great!
Oh wow, such a beautiful and colorful bowl of oats.
As for my favorite website? LOL, I wouldn’t say there is one that I go to continually..
Love all the mixed fruit today…have a great Monday!
Hmmm, all that fruit looks good, I packed a fruit salad today rather than a green salad!
My fav. website is definitely glamour.com, where I found you!
Hey, thanks for commenting on my last post. Your blog is great, really easy to read and very interesting – keep it up.
I’m intrigued by figs, never had them before but I think I’ll take your word for it and give them a try.
Love, love, love fruits! Just a question, when did you and your Mom begin meeting for walks and what brought up the tradition? It sounds like such a wonderful past time.
The oatmeal looks yummy with all of that fruit. I love oatmeal and fruit. Has there ever been a better combination.
I could eat grapes all day and I bring them almost everywhere I go! I would say that dooce.com is my favorite website – she’s hilarious.
When the weather is nicer (for Mason) maybe we can do an afternoon walk?!?!?! (With the stroller?!?!)
PS – the rain is miserable. I can’t take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi LG! Great pics of your oatmeal! Plus I like the idea of mixing Italian dressing and soy sauce on your coleslaw salad. Nice work.
Anyways, you should be proud of my pancakes. I almost took pictures of them to send to you
P.S. I also made my dad try a Larabar (he really liked it!!)
You would be proud of me. I made pancakes this morning! One of my favorite childhood foods was chocolate chip pancakes. They are decadent! So, I made a healthy version. I used the Fiber One pancake mix (Hy-Vee). I mixed in 1 tablespoon of milk chocolate chips into the batter which made three medium size pancakes for only 250 cals, chips included. It was great, topped with Sugar Free maple syrup! Lunch was yogurt and an apple with peanut butter. Dinner was orange chicken with rice, and drum roll….from your post above…brussell sprouts! Honestly! And this was BEFORE I even read your post! I put a little olive oil, garlic salt, and parm on top. Amazing that something called “brussell sprouts” = tasty
Hi Danielle! We started walking when I moved back to Iowa from Minnesota, about a year ago. She lives 6 blocks away so she drives down every morning and we walk a 1.5 mile loop together. We started as a way to motivate each other to get going in the morning, and if we didn’t get any other form of exercise in throughout the course of the day – then it least we got a little in the morning!
Look at you – you little chef!!!! What a coincidence about brussel sprouts – aren’t they just the BEST?!!?!?!
