Seriously…seriously – this morning I almost felt like I lived in the rainforests of Brazil! My morning mom walk had all the elements: dense fog, low visibility, owls hooting, tons of species of birds singing, monkeys howling…haha, no monkeys – just checking to see if you’re paying attention! Seriously though, it was crazy – those birds were LOUD! My area has a dense fog advisory so visibility was basically nil and the birds were LOVING the moist air! After about 20 minutes of walking, I reached up to tuck some hair behind my ear, only to find that my hair was sopping wet! We were basically walking through a giant cloud – it was really cool
Here’s a webcam shot from my area – pretty exciting, huh?!

So the day after I ask you if you want to see a stove-top oatmeal tutorial, I crave a smoothie for breakfast! A banana, strawberry and barney butter smoothie to be exact! No worries, I will post that tutorial ASAP!

So this smooooothie. I combined sliced strawberries, 1 medium banana, 1 big spoonful of smooth Barney Butter (seriously this stuff gets better every time I use it – thanks Mom and Dad!), ~1/2 cup milk and ~1 cup ice in a blender and blended until, well, it was smooth! This made a TON of smoothie, but don’t worry, I ate it all
You could really taste the Barney Butter and the banana helps make the consistency velvety smooth.

I absolutely adore smoothies. There’s something about blended, cold drinks that make me completely devour them in no time flat. Side note: not such a good thing when it comes to pina coladas! Additional side note: I have an amazing “light” pina colada recipe I will share with you this summer!
You know what? I looked around the house last night and again this morning to find something for lunch today…and I just couldn’t find anything I wanted! There’s nothing more pointless than eating something that you’re not going to enjoy – so I decided that today, I’m going to go find something that I want to eat – and have that for lunch! I’ll let you know what makes it to my table
Do you guys like smoothies? What are your favorite combos? I like:
- milk + banana + peanut butter + ice
- any fruit + juice/milk + ice
- cantaloupe + any flavor yogurt + ice
- any fruit + any flavor yogurt + ice
- mango + water + little sugar!!
- banana + honey + peanut butter + ice
- cold coffee + vanilla yogurt + milk + ice
…ok, I could literally go on forever! Have an amazing day, wherever you are!
One more full day to enter up to three ways for the One Month Blogiversary Giveaway! Everyone’s comments have been much appreciated!!

i usually do strawberries, ice, plain yogurt, a little sugar or honey, and sometimes milk.
Have you tried green monsters? THEY’RE AMAZING! All you need is a couple handfuls of greens [I use spinach], some fruit [I like strawberries+bananas], and ice! They’re so good and so healthy too… and I’m sure you could add some nut butter in there too. So many possibilities! But your smoothie looks absolutely delicious!
My fav smoothie is simple and delicious, it’s something my mom and I would make together when I was little.
Blend milk, frozen banana (must be frozen) and a little bit of vanilla extract. That’s it – but the frozen banana gives it this AMAZING consistency that I just crave.
Another good one is vanilla yogurt, apricot nectar and ice. My mom used to make fresh apricot nectar, it’s really tangy and goes great with the yogurt.
I like to use fresh strawberries and fresh pineapple with some frozen raspberries or blueberries instead of ice. I usually add some juice or sparkling water, too. I rarely make two smoothies alike – I just throw in ingredients and blend until I’m happy with the taste!
I have never had a smoothie (!) but these combinations sound delicious… If I had a blender, I think I’d try some kind of banana PB combination
I have never made my own smoothie and you have now inspired me to make one…hopefully 2nite!!
the last one I made had fresh mango, frozen strawberries and strawberry yogurt
My favourite is 2 cups of spinach, 1/2 banana, water, ice, and 1/2 cup of Almond Breeze!
Frozen raspberries, chocolate almond milk, peanut butter, nonfat vanilla Wallaby yogurt. Yum.
Oh fun! This smoothie looks fabulous! I have a smoothie that I love that I found in a magazine one time: 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 banana, 1 cup soymilk, 1 scoop protein powder, stevia to taste, blend and enjoy! Yum! I am going to have to try some of your combos!!
Any smoothie is good in my book
Hmm, smoothie looks GOOD!
I love smoothies too. Pineapple and mango are two of my fav. ingredients!
MMmmmm smoothie!
I like one scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1/2 a banana, and a table spoon of natural peanut butter, with milk and some ice soooooo tasty!
EVERYONE: Loving these combos!! Definitely going to keep these on file!!
great smoothie ideas! i want to try the yogurt coffee one! my favorite smoothie is yogurt, mixed berries, cranberry juice, and cinnamon
Your post inspired me to finally get a blender (something I’ve been meaning to do for 9 months!). This morning I made my first smoothie in my shiny new blender and it is delish! In the mix:
1/2 C milk
1/4 C plain NF yogurt
1/4 C canned pumpkin
1/2 large banana
1 heaping T peanut butter
2 T old fashioned oats
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp agave nectar
4 ice cubes
Yummy!
oh…and the above totaled to about 310 calories, 11 g fat, 47 g carbs, 6 g of fiber and 13 g of protein!
Hey Kristin, it’s Cheech (Mots’ buddy)…
My favorite is what I call an “Avocado Banana Smoothie”:
-1 medium or large Haas Avocado
-1 (or 2) Banana(s)
-2 c Skim Milk
-1 c Dry Oats
-1 T Honey
-12-15 Ice Cubes
· Add milk and oatmeal to blender.
· Add bananas, ice cubes, and honey.
· Blend at high speed for a minute or two.
· Turn off blender and add avocado (halve, remove seed, and scrape out
w/spoon).
· Momentarily mix at lowest speed.
· Pour in frosty mug or glass.
Some people see/hear about the title of this smoothie and think of the taste and quality to be disgusting. However, the avocado provides the smoothie it’s creamy base while the honey and banana provide natural sweet qualities. Additionally, all ingredients are super healthy and all-natural.
I’ve tried to get Mots to try it, but he won’t budge. He’s a little girl.
OMG that sounds incredible!! Like a pumpkin pie blizzard – minus the 1500 calories!! Good for you!
