Herb Garden Checkup

0

It’s Friday EEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!! This week has actually gone by pretty fast – no complaints here!!

Maybe you were wondering how my new herb garden is doing:

I think it’s doing pretty well! For a few days there, I thought the cilantro was going to kick the bucket – but she pulled through just fine! My mom is planting some tomatoes in pots for me this weekend, so the herbs shall have some company out on the back porch soon enough :)

Have you guys ever heard of a “salsa garden”? It’s where you plant pots of cilantro, jalapenos, tomatoes and onions – I’m half way there with the tomatoes and cilantro – perhaps I should think about getting some green onions and a jalapeno plant? I’ll mull it over this weekend…

Lunch today is…leftovers! I thought even more about my stir fry last night. It was sooooo good. That sauce combo was out of this world. Pretty jazzed for leftovers actually!

For some freshness, I packed a sliced Braeburn apple. My favorite, of course.

What does everyone have planned for the weekend? Do you have your Mother’s Day gift yet? Mother’s are easy in that they genuinely love anything you give them – but you still want to knock their socks off with a thoughtful gift! What did you end up buying your mom?!

Saturday, Ben and I are running some errands then going over to a friends’ house to hangout. On Sunday, we’ll have Mother’s Day brunch for my mom at my brother and sister-in-law‘s house – then we’re having Ben’s folks over for a grill out that night to celebrate Mother’s Day with his mom! WHEW! Fun weekend indeed!

Quick question…..When you slice your apple for lunch in the morning….does it turn brown by lunch time? I made you oatmeal for breakfast the other morning and it was great! Thanks for posting how you make it!

Hi Heidi! I put my apples in an air-tight gladware container so they don’t get very brown. And if they somehow do – it doesn’t affect the taste! SOoooo glad you liked the oatmeal – yay!!

I sent my mom a card and am having flowers delivered to her house tomorrow. We already did our mother’s day visit because I was visiting just two weeks ago. I’m hoping she likes the flowers! (and is home to get them!)

My mom always enjoys getting my sister and me little goody bags of stuff for different occasions with random things in it. So we decided for mother’s day that’s what we’d do for her. We bought a little tote to put it all down in. We wound up stuffing it with a subscription to InStyle magazine, a gift certificate for a mani/pedi/facial, some cute little notepads and pens, a mini lint roller (because well it was just cute) and some fun gum and two turtles from an amazing candy store in Memphis. It turned out really cute!

I have no idea what to get my mom! She’s difficult to shop for and returns everything… if I can’t think of anything I’ll do a gift card since she loves shopping.

Your herb garden is flourishing! Mine is all brown :( I think it’s not liking the no rain and 90+ temps the past 2 weeks…. grrr
