Well the surgery was a success! Ben’s four little wisdom teeth were sitting on his lap 20 minutes after he left my side…20 minutes people!! How is that even possible, I wonder? After I was de-briefed about how to take care of the little patient at home, we were off to get some pain meds, ice and Jell-O! Oh, he wanted to share this with you all – a post wisdom teeth removal selfie:
That’s his mad face. Let’s be honest – I’d be mad too. Getting your wisdom teeth out sucks hard.
Back at home I worked for a little bit and around 11:30, I got huuuungry. I knew just what I wanted too – leftover vegetarian pad thai and a crisp, cold, delicious sliced apple.
Dare I say the leftovers were even better than last night??
Oh apples, I love you!
This one was multi-colored…pretty!
Ok – my shout out from this morning is to…MY DAD! Yep – this guy
Why am I giving my Dad a shout out, you may be asking? Because homeboy is running his first ever race tomorrow! The Dam to Dam 5k – which my brother and I will be running along with him!
I am so proud of my Dad. As soon as Ben and I’s wedding plans began to take shape in 2008 – so did my Dad’s workout plan. That man was on the treadmill and eating salads everyday for months leading up to the big day…all so he could feel proud to walk his daughter down the aisle, as he said.
After the wedding, he continued staying fit with occasional visits to the treadmill, but really picked things back up this Spring, when he set the goal for himself to run the race! Recently, he’s taken his running from the treadmill to the streets in final preparation – and I’m confident that the 5k will be a complete success for him tomorrow. I couldn’t be prouder – he has worked really hard to make this a reality for himself! GO POPS!

What are you having for lunch today!?

I am seriously so hungry today. I hate a huge chicken salad with a banana and a diet caffeine free pop. I don’t want to hit the vending machine either, it’s FRIDAY. I’ll shop later…
So in 2004 I had my impacted wisdom teeth removed at the hospital. The anesthesiologist was no other than a climbing partner of mine that I’ve been climbing with for 10+ years! It was such a great feeling knowing that he was going to be the first person I saw when I woke up. I was SO scared!
Ben looks angry lol. I was an “RN” to my boyfriend as well when he got his wisdom’s out last year. But he was affected in a different way, he turned quite flirty with the (elderly) nurses who assisted him. It was hilarious!
Your pad thai looks so good and so does the apple. I like the way you arranged them!
Your Dad has done so well. You must be really proud! I hope Ben feels better soon.
I am eating a veggie wrap for lunch!
That is so awesome of your dad!
Hope ben feels better soon.
awww hope ben feels better and kudos to dad!
Aww poor Ben. That pad thai looks delicious! That’s so cool that your dad is running the 5k. It sounds like he’s done a lot of preparation, and I bet he’ll have a great race tomorrow! It sounds like he’s come a long way– you must be so proud
Have a great Friday!
I am having a tuna fish sandwich on wheat bread, cheddar pretzels and Hot Tamales (we have a jar at the office and I can never resist them!).
Good luck in the race!
Go Dad! That is so cool that he is running a 5k.

Ahhh, I am getting my wisdom teeth out on June 18th and I am soooo nervous. Funny, the thing that I am most scared about is, that I won’t be able to eat anything good for a week!!
Oh well, I guess I will always have my oats, right?
You will have to let me know how Ben does? I am taking any advice I can for a fast and easy recovery.
HAHA – to be honest I was afraid Ben was going to be super loopy afterwards too, but he was perfectly fine!! Super weird how anesthesia affects people so differently!
I think you’ll be fine – Ben was out and about eating steak and mashed potatoes a day after his surgery!! I think he might be a rare case – but Drs are so good at doing them these days, that if you don’t get dry sockets – you should be fine!
