One more day ‘til the weekend – eeeeeek!! Got any fun plans I should know about?!

Ok – do you ever have those weeks where you just don’t feel like exercising? This week has definitely been one of those… I don’t know if it’s the gray and cloudy weather we’ve had since last weekend or what – but I am in a slump my friends! I canceled my 3 mile run this afternoon but am thinking about heading out on my bike for a cruise after dinner. Yep, I committing.

In other news, our state tax refund check finally arrived in the mail! We’re cheap and it was something like $60 to file electronically, so we went the old fashioned route and filed by snail mail for free…which means it took about 6 extra weeks to get our refund…d’oh! Are we putting the refund towards a fabulous vacation, wardrobe makeover or exciting night on the town??? Nope – we’ve got to paint our house…double d’oh!! Owning a home is hard word don’t you know!?

So I arrived home from work hungreeeeeeee – and I may have spoiled my appetite by eating a few of these

(I couldn’t help it they are so good! I immediately stashed the rest of them in the freezer!!!) so I made a light and semi-random dinner of steamed green beans and a mashed potato :)

I just love steamed green beans – I don’t, however, love standing over the sink, snapping their little green bean ends off! My Mom finds it therapeutic…how about you?

I used some Drunkin’ Priest Dippin’ Sauce in my mashed potato and boy was it ever good!!!

Oh, back to those sugar cookies – a few of you asked about the icing I used. I just made a simple royal icing – here’s a good recipe to try!

Ok, I am seriously going right.this.moment., changing my clothes, heading out the door and grabbing my bike. It’s Tour de Iowa Girl Eats’ neighborhood time!!!

What do you do when you don’t feel like exercising? Just do it anyways? Take a night off? Take a week off?? Share your tips and I’ll create a tip sheet for everyone!

Have a wonderful evening everyone!

When I don’t feel like exercising. I either don’t…I’ll just do somthing that feels good…brain exercise – reading or watching a good movie. OR- get my boyfriend to go for a walk with me..or get someone to do somthing with me. Its harder to get myself motivated when I’m alone.
    Have a great weekend girlie!

I’ve been in an exercise slump for a month. Gotta get out of it! I enjoy it, but for some reason I can’t get my lazy rump outta bed at 5 a.m. lately. I need a kick in the butt, so I’m curious to see what others do.

And that mashed potato looks divine!

I usually just do it!! It helps for me if I actually have something to train for because then I REALLY feel guilty if I don’t do it. Plus I just try to remember how GREAT I always feel afterwards!!

when I don’t feel like exercising I just tell myself I have to do 10 minutes of something, and usually when I finish the 10 minutes I want to do more! Works every time :)

I normally walk the pooch a little extra longer, but if I’m really beat – I sometimes try to catch up on blogs or read a fitness blog – to at least make me feel like I’m contributing to my overall fitness well-being. Great looking mashed potatoes!

I find if I don’t think about the fact I don’t want to exercise, I’m tired, hungry, etc and just start getting into my exercise gear and get out the door it works wonders! Sometimes I will just take a night or a few days off.

  8. I tried your homemade fro yo and linked you- not that you need it I’m sure haha

    Those cookies look delish!:D

When I don’t feel like exercising (95% of it is mental anyway), I do it anyway- I tend to push myself because I know I will feel better afterwards!:D

I have a lot of those weeks, and I agree that blah weather def does not help!! That totally looks like a meal I would eat, too. Mashed potatoes are my ultimate comfort food!

Your dinner looks yummy!! Love green beans & mashed potatoes. :)

When I don’t feel like exercising, I usually remind myself how good I feel when I am done and that is usually enough to motivate me. This actually happened to me this AM when I got up at 4:45 AM to hit the gym. I was SO not feeling it, but when I left at 6:30, I felt amazing! I am glad that I got up & went.

  11. When I don’t feel like working out I take the night off. There is usually a reason my body is saying “no thank you, please!” Plus, if I force myself to workout i will be miserable the entire time. So NOT cool!

I just started running and since I run outdoors, I have to rely on clear weather. So when I don’t feel like going for a run I remind myself of the days I feel bad when it is raining and I can’t go out even if my body craves a run. It works most of the time. :D

I’m like your mom – I love the the crisp snappy sounds when taking off the green bean ends. :P

I have been in such a gym funk lately! Glad to know I am not the only one. I usually try to do something a little different to mix it up and kick the funkiness out of my routine. Seems to work for me! (usually!)

I’ve felt like exercising this week, but I haven’t felt like getting out of bed…which makes it difficult.
Sometimes when I don’t want to exercise, I’ll treat myself to a bigger pre-workout snack. Or just force myself to go – I enjoy it once I’m there.

    Hi!
I cant seem to download the royal icing recipe. When you have a chance, would you mind sending it to me?
    Thanks!
