Ok – nevermind what I said last night about the weather being the cause of my exercise slump (but keep your tips coming!), because my bike ride was sooooo perfect! It was the perfect temp, the perfect amount of sun peeking through the clouds, the perfect amount of bugs slamming into my face…ok not that last part – but seriously, it was SUCH a great bike ride and made for a perfect summer evening
OH! AND! You all know my love of history, so I took my camera along on the ride to take pictures of the Historic Bennet School, which is on the path I took:
Bennett School was one of the last one-room schoolhouses built in the West Des Moines area in 1926 or ‘27. It has been restored as closely as possible to its former appearance as remembered by Walter Fuller, Pete Johnson, and Lincoln Bennett (all students there) and by Dorothy Temple Mosher, a former teacher at the Bennett School .
Ugh, isn’t that cool?? I just absolutely love stuff like this. Little House on the Prairie used to be one of my favorite shows…yes, I’m a giant nerd.
Anyways this morning I needed something cool to combat the heat that was raging inside my house!! So, I made a repeater of Monday’s smoothie, with some slight modifications.
This morning’s smoothie had:
- 2 frozen bananas (two!!)
- 1 cup skim milk
- 1 T Simply JIF
- dash of cinnamon
This was incredible – bananas + PB = the perfect combo!!
And smoothies keep me really full anyways – I think due to the air + gulping – so with two bananas in this baby, I’m sure I’ll be full forevs!
For lunch I packed a fruit extravaganza!!! Including:
1 Braeburn apple:
Crunchy, sweet and snappy grapes:
2 fuzzy kiwis…minus the fuzz
Do you eat the fuzz? I saw recently that Meghann does…so does my husband. I just don’t think I can bring myself to do it!
Not fruit – but equally as good – some almonds
This is my perfect lunch combo – snacky items that I can graze on throughout the afternoon. Yes!

So, my brother and sister-in-law will be 7 months pregnant in one week! The weekly update I got yesterday said the baby is capable of hiccupping now…isn’t that crazy?!?! They aren’t finding out what the sex of the baby is until it’s born and they’re keeping their name ideas a mystery too (they don’t want anyone to judge them!!)
Do you have your future children’s names picked out (if you want children)? If you already have children, what are their names?
I love the name Gwendolyn and Alice (Ben’s Grandma and my Grandma’s name) for girls and the name Macalla (my Mom’s maiden name) – we’d call him Mac – for a boy…I love traditional names!!

Love all the fruit! Delicious!
My dog’s name is Lucy and I’ll always loved Lucy…I also like Lily for a girl….and Avery for a boy.
I have names picked out and we aren’t even married yet!
Claire, Rose and Opal for girls (All family names)
Ben & Will for boys.
I don’t want to find out the gender for our first and will not reveal the names we choose until the birth! That is one of the biggest surprises in life and I love surprises!
Wow, that old school is awesome. I love that kind of stuff, too. It’s so interesting to look at it and try and picture what it’d be like back then! What things would be different, what your thoughts would be like if you were a student back then compared to now… so cool.
Delicious smoothie! And I’ll eat the fuzz on kiwis if I’m too lazy to peel it… haha.
I’m not sure if I’d name my girl this, but I really like the name Kaylee. I’m not sure what I’d name a boy… maybe Taylor?
When I was in grade school we took a field trip to a one room schoolhouse (in Oklahoma) and we actually went to the school for a day. They recreate what it would have been like back then and we baked our own bread and churned butter, it was super fun!!!
We have a son – Jonathan. Am pregnant with #2 and we didn’t find out the sex. We should have witheld our name choices to avoid opinions. We really like Abraham but have gotten the best reception to the name!
That should be “not gotten” the best reception to the name!
Morning! Good eats. I am with you on the kiwi’s. I know that you can eat the skins, and they probably contain a lot of fibre, but I can’t bring myself to do it. Too weird!!!
I think PB and bananas are a MUST for smoothies!! I just can’t bring myself to eat the skin on the kiwis, it just looks too fuzzy!!
My BF and I have had names picked out for years now and we aren’t even married yet!! (Hopefully that will change very soon!!) So for a boy definitely Luke and for a girl Peyton.
Smoothies never fill me up, I’m not sure why. I can’t bring myself to eat kiwi fuzz either, I don’t know why. I love the names Aidan and Chloe.
I just got some kiwi this week, the first time in a very long time, I don’t eat the fuzzy, but my grammie does! She eats them like apples!
I already have girls names picked out Anna Marie for both my grandmothers. I don’t have any boy names picked out. Heck I don’t even have a boyfriend to have the kids with…Oh well!!!
