Good morning everyone – It’s FRYDAY!!! FRYday because I fried in bed all night last night!! It’s hot!!
Thankfully, I am cool as a cucumber right now because I am sitting in the frosty cold lobby of a Ford Dealership whilst my car is getting serviced! Seriously you guys – I feel like I’m in a swanky coffee shop or something! They’ve got this really nice customer lounge with a big laptop station and free wifi, huge comfy chairs to sit in while you type and I’m sipping a Starbucks iced latte that I got on the way here. When did car dealerships get so lush?
I haven’t gotten a Starbucks latte in a really long time, by the way, and I’ve forgotten how delicious they are! Ben and I started this kind of cash allowance program where extra items like coffee, clothes…I don’t really know what Ben buys…but stuff that we don’t necessarily need in order to survive, all comes out of this fund that only gets replenished twice a month. It’s really hard forking over $4 for a latte when you know it’s taking away from a shirt or something that you’d really like instead!
I order my lattes with “light ice” because if I don’t, some baristas have the tendency to jam the cup full of ice and I get no actual coffee! 
This is the same reason why I order my hot lattes with “no foam” – I’m not paying for air! Who’s with me?!
In an attempt to keep all unnecessary appliances turned off this morning, I made up a nice plate of sliced apples with Barney Butter and a lemon yogurt for breakfast.
This was just what I needed – cool, crisp and refreshing!
I think eating a plate of spiraled apples is more fun than just eating an…apple.
This flavor combination is just dynamite!
This yogurt was perfectly tart and refreshing 
Oh, by the way, I guess I should mention why I’m sitting at the car dealership and not at work – I took the day off today! I have a busy weekend full of wedding activities for a friend and I have a lot of stuff that needed to get done – errands, etc. – so I took today off. Plus, it’s just nice to get away from the office every now and again, you know what I mean? On the agenda for today:
- Get car serviced (oil change, fix car radio)
- Target
- Walmart (if Target doesn’t have the things I need)
- Mall
- Sephora
- Bed, Bath & Beyond
- Manicure and pedicure (this is stuff that would fall into the "allowance fund” but I’ll do it myself, thank you very much!)
- RUN!
As you can see, my agenda is pretty packed, but I’m glad I’ve got the whole day to get it all accomplished!

oooo Sephora. I just did some online shopping there! I have the day off from work too, but my day is filled with cleaning, tending to a toddler and some afternoon Father’s day shopping. Sure wish it included a mani/pedi.

My car dealership is swanky too! It makes it that much nicer to go get my oil changed!
My husband and I have worked off an “allowance” system for years and it works great!!! I have no idea what my husband spends his on either.
i just love starbucks coffee, i’ll admit that I go there a little too much, but oh well.

We do the same thing. Hubby and I have a “vacation” fund that we each depsot $10 from our paychecks each week. We’ve been doing this for years, and last year, actually had enough to pay for most of our honeymoon. It’s so nice to be able to have the extra cash for fun stuff and to tell you the truth, I often forget it even exsists until it comes time to use it. It’s such a wonderful surprise.
Sounds like a lovely day off. I have the day off as well, but sadly I am stuck on the couch with my gigantic chipmunk cheeks! LoL, oh the joys of mouth surgery. I hate feeling so unproductive but I know rest is the best medicine.

My friend went to her car dealership the other week and said the SAME thing. However, she brought her laptop and found out they BLOCKED Facebook because it was considered a “dating/personals site.” She was less than enthused

I am always so jealous of how pretty your apple slices are. How do you get them so even and thin? Do you use an apple slicer?
Wow, that car dealership place sounds nice! I know, I used to have starbucks ALL the time, but now I’m like… if I want coffee, I can make it myself and save a ton of money. I’ve never heard of ordering light ice though. That’s a great idea!

We do the cash allowance thing too. We call it “fun money.” It started when we were saving for our wedding and stuck, because it’s much easier to know when you’re running low on cash instead of a seemingly endless supply on your debit card. Of course some weeks we slip, so the next week we get less cash to start with, but it must have saved us a lot over the years.
I’m thinking about starting the same thing with our grocery money — that’s the one area we overspend on every month, because all the quick trips to the store add up without us realizing it.
How do you guys do the allowance thing? Is it an actual jar? I really like that idea!! I do the same at Starbucks, I also don’t take milk so I get my regular cups filled to the top!

What a nice car dealership! Wish they were all like that!! I love apples and nut butter! Such a wonderful combination! And yay for days off!! Hope you get everything done that you need to!! I like the idea of a “spending allowance”. Will definitely have to use that idea when I get married!
Last time we were in the US I sent my coffee back at Starbucks and told them to put some coffee in it! The cup weighed more than what was in it.
I give myself an allowance too. I hardly ever go for mani/pedi’s as I can do that myself and to be honest, I don;t really find them relaxing. Last time I had a pedicure, I thought that I was going to accidentally kick her in the face! I really don’t like my feet being touched!!!
I just slice the apple sides off from the core and then slice those pieces with a sharp knife!
We just both get a set amount of money every two weeks that we can spend on whatever we want – and when it’s gone, it’s gone!
