Good to the Last Drop

Good morning everyone! Two more days ‘til the long weekend…which also happens to be my Birthday weekend! The big day is actually on Sunday but Ben has something very fun planned for us on Saturday (which I accidently figured out) but either way, I am sooooo excited. I can’t wait! I’ll share with you what it is later ;)

So let me tell you – I was so excited for breakfast this morning! I think I first saw this idea on Kath’s blog a couple months ago and I have been waiting very patiently to make it…Peanut Butter Jar Oatmeal! Basically you pour your oatmeal in a nearly empty peanut butter jar (or in this case, an almost empty Barney Butter jar) stir and chow down!

I remember whispering “genius…”  to myself when I first read about this idea…and it is – this was amazing!

There was approx 1 tablespoon left in the bottom and on the sides of my jar, and the warm oatmeal melts everything so it swirls beautifully.

Plus, it’s just a lot of fun to eat breakfast out of a peanut butter jar :)

Next time you have a nearly empty jar – give this a try!!

Now for lunch today, I’ve got a guest coming to eat with me…my Mom! She works in the school system and has the summers off, so we’re able to eat lunch together whenever we like :) What did I pack? A sampler style lunch!

1 Cherry Cashew PURE Bar (never tried this flavor & am super excited!)

1 container cantaloupe

Finally, I’ve got a lemon chiffon yogurt.

As I’ve said before – I really do love these types of lunches because I can snack on them all throughout the afternoon. I never get a chance to get too hungry, because I’ve always got something to eat!

Oh gosh – I don’t usually add peanut butter/almond butter to my oatmeal and let me tell you it is filling. I am stuffed!! Time to roll myself to work :) have a great day everyone!

What are your feelings on “bars” such as PURE bars, CLIF bars, Lara bars, etc.? Which ones are your favorite? How often do you eat them? Anyone ever try those SoyJoy bars?

i can’t wait til i can do that with my peanut butter jar. I always feel guilty when i have to toss the jar, and there’s still some that i can’t scrape off! so i figure in like a couple weeks i’ll be able to do that.

I like clif bars. i probably eat them every 4 months or so. they don’t taste grainy to me. but the only bar that i eat on a regular basis is the fiber one bars… it’s a perfect dessert if i don’t have anything else to eat at night time (namely ice cream!)

I just tried the Cherry Cashew PURE bar the other day & it was AMAZING! Enjoy!

I love the Fiber One oats & chocolate bars. They are the perfect combo of chewy & chocolatey. The Kashi Trail Mix bars are really yummy, too. I like the Soy Joy alright, but they are a little on the dry side. I’m thinking of trying something called a Full bar. Have you ever had those?

Clif Z-bars are my fave! They rock!

Nutz Over Chocolate Luna bars are my favorite!

I love the PB jar idea! So smart! So exciting that it’s your bady weekend!! I tried the Cherry Cashew PURE bar last week and it was super good!! I am really likeing the PURE bars. I also love Cliff and Luna bars!

For me, bars a very necessary. There are just those times when all you have time for is a bar on the go. I like Larabars because the ingredient list is so simple and because they’re raw. I want to try Pure Bars so bad as they seem very similar to Lara! I also like a Clif bar occasionally, but they taste so much more processed. I’ll give any new bar a try just though, I’m not too picky!!

Love the PB jar oatmeal! I haven’t been craving oatmeal lately because it’s so hot, but maybe when my AB runs out…

I’ve done that jar thing twice so far and it’s fantastic. I think I saw Heather do it and couldn’t stop thinking about it! Now I’m waiting to get to the end of my jars :)

I like bars and they are convenient, but I try not to eat too many unless I need to. Lara bars, those pure bars, and clif/z/luna bars are my favorite.

I have larabars a lot during the school year. They are easy to pack and I feel good eating them, they’re ingedient list is like 4 ingredients. I also love Z-bars too!

  9. I’ve never tried pb and oatmeal – it looks great! I just picked up the cherry cashew pure bar last night and am excited to try it!

I love the cliff z-bars and I try and keep some in my car for those emergency snack attacks. I find if I have something like that, I don’t binge the minute I get in the door. I got a sample of the Soy Joy bars and although I did not think they were bad, I did not think they were good enough to buy…

I’m loving the chocolate brownie clif bars at the moment. good stuff and it’s a very filling lunch if I pair it with an apple or banana – or they’re great on their own for breakfast on the go!

    Love the PB Jar idea!

I was in an airport last year and they were giving away Soy Joy bars in one of the stores. Honestly, I found them kind of gross.

I am a big fan of LaraBars – particularly the PB Cookie and Coconut Cream Pie.

Also love CLIF Bars – Carrots ‘n Cake and Mint Chocolate Chip being my top two.

  13. I LOVE larabars! They are my all time favorite bar- especially since they are so healthy and raw! I was just featured on their blog here: http://www.larabar.com/fun/blog so check it out! :)

  14. Sara says:

I looove the oatmeal raisin and carrot cake cliff bars and the iced oatmeal raisin luna bars. Some of the lara bars are good too. But not a fan of soy joy bars. I usually throw one in my purse…just in case there is nothing I want around when I’m hungry.

  15. Sara says:

I’m going to have to try this oatmeal in a PB jar thing! It looks great. :) My favorite bars are either Clif Bars or Odwalla Bars. I bring them once to twice a week, as the “entree” of my lunch.

  16. Oh man- I just opened a new jar of peanut butter- I will have to wait to try this- but yes I agree- GENIUS!!!

  17. Sassy says:

Just wanted to say that I took the green monster challenge this morning! I’m feeling a bit under the weather and figured some spinach, oatmeal, banana and pb wouldn’t be a bad way to start my day. Yum yum! The bf even liked it!

  18. We only have SoyJoy here in Japan. I don’t like them as they taste unnatural and very processed. Ewww. That’s why I sort of die a little inside when I see Larabars, Luna, PURE, etc on blogs. Hahaha. Plus, we only have Skippy PB here! :s I just have to be thankful we have good fish and tons of veggies and fruits.

  19. Anne K. says:

I can’t wait to try out that nut butter jar oatmeal! It’s such a perfect idea :D I rarely eat bars–I’d much rather have a piece of fruit, or a different snack. I’m a total volume eater!

  20. broccolihut says:

I like to have bars on hand for meal supplementation, while I’m running errands, in class, or on vacation where menus can be unpredictable. My faves include Larabar, PURE bar, and Clif bars. I’ve never tried the Soy Joy ones–it kinda freaks me out that they have parmesan cheese in them!

  21. Kimberly says:

Love the Pure bars and that cherry cashew one is one of my favs!!! Lara Bars are good, too. I also love Kind bars…they are chewy, nutty & oh so good!
