***The BLURT! Board Game Giveaway is now closed!***
Wassup, wassup!!
You guys, I was driving home from work today in the pouring rain, traffic was miserable, etc and then…I saw a raaaaaiiiiinboooowww through a clearing in the clouds! Gosh, I haven’t seen a rainbow in YEARS! I took a picture for you, natch
Aren’t rainbows one of those perfect, instant mood boosters?! Other instant mood boosters include:
- Puppies
- Dessert
- The smell of coconut
- GIVEAWAYS!!
Yes, that’s right – hot off the heels of the PURE Bar + Real Simple Giveaway, comes the BLURT! Board Game Giveaway!
Remember when I was telling you about BLURT!, my absolute favorite game ever, that I randomly found while out at happy hour a few weeks ago? Well the inventor of BLURT! was so pleased I liked his game, that he offered to send me the new and improved version – and to give away an autographed game to two Iowa Girl Eats readers!! Wheee!
Object of the game: Be the first player to move your game piece around the board. Players earn the right to move their game piece by being the first to blurt out a word after hearing its definition or “clue”.
Ok – let’s practice. If I read the following clue: “A series of images and thoughts you have during sleep,” the first person to blurt out the word “Dream” would get to move their game piece!
Enough talk – how can you win?! BLURT out the answer (ie comment below
) to the following clue:
“A back tooth in the mouth used to grind food”
I will randomly pick two correct answers, and those readers will each win a signed game!! Contest is open to US residents only and will end at 12:00pm Central time on Thursday! Good luck!!

Alright, well after my rainbow and BLURT Giveaway excitement, I made dinner – which was Sweet-Soy Glazed Pork Tenderloin.
This meal actually started by making the marinade last night. I mixed it up in a plastic baggie and this morning I popped the tenderloin into the bag to marinate while I was at work all day. In the marinade (based on the recipe here):
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons mirin
- 1/4 cup roughly chopped red onion
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- dash of garlic powder
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
When I got home from work, I took the tenderloin out of the marinade, placed it onto a foil-lined, non-stick sprayed baking dish and let that baby cook @ 350 degrees for 25 minutes (or until the internal temp gets to be ~160 degrees.)
I let the pork rest for about 10 minutes, sliced it and served some freshly steamed broccoli on the side.
There are no words – NO WORDS – to describe how spectacular this marinade is!!! The addition of cinnamon is GENIOUS! I literally could have eaten this entire pork tenderloin…I settled for eating half
Muwahahaha…
The brown sugar brings the sweet, but the soy sauce lends a saltiness which balances everything out. I think Ben said it best when he said “This tastes like the holidays.” In a good way though!
If you don’t care for pork – try this marinade with chicken, salmon (that would be AWESOME actually), or even tofu! You will not be disappointed, I promise you!
Ok, I’m going to go sulk about the fact that I ate this so quickly and that I don’t have any more left
Just kidding. Have a great night everyone!!!
