Good morning everyone! Can you believe it’s already Wednesday?? Where the heck did the first two days of this week go? Not complaining…just saying
This morning after a sweaty Mom walk (it was hot out, but is supposed to be goooorgeous the rest of the week, yes!) I had a nice cup-a-joe out of a brand new mug one of my best friends gave me for my birthday!
Isn’t it pretty?? I love getting new travel mugs. My stash isn’t that big, so a new addition is always welcome!
Well after the hot walk and hot coffee, I was ready for something cool and light for breakfast – so I made a Fruit + Yogurt Bowl!
In the mix:
- 1 Blueberry Buckle flavored yogurt
- 1 medium banana
- 1 handful blueberries
- 2 dried apricots
All together:
Creamy yogurt, chewy apricots & bursting berries – so heavenly!
I just have to tell you that yogurt + bananas is one of my favorite flavor combos, like, ever. I think it might have something to do with the tart yogurt and sweet banana tastes mixed together. If you can’t tell, I’m all about flavor combos
For lunch today, I packed a salad! I just love salads for lunch because it’s easy to prepare, it’s basically a vehicle for any awesome topping you can think of and it fills me up without weighing me down. Do you ever have those humongo lunches that leave you so tired and unable to work or think in the afternoons? Yeah, not a fan.
In today’s mix:
- Mixed greens
- ~2 T Black Beluga lentils
- 1 medium cucumber, seeded & sliced
- 1 slice pepper jack cheese
- 1 handful blueberries
I am seriously convinced that these lentils are the cure to all afternoon hunger woes. The past two days I have been full for the entire day after eating them in my lunches!
Wow, so I definitely got my blueberry fix in today, huh? Blueberry yogurt, blueberries on top of my fruit bowl and even in my salad! Did you happen to know that blueberries are a natural and rich source of antioxidants and vitamins E, A & C? Sounds good to me!
Hahahaha oh gosh – Ben just got up and stumbled into the kitchen looking so angry. He is NOT a morning person and today he looked particularly upset…hehehehe…
Aight…time to start the day – it’s going to be a busy one. Make it great!

Do you take any types of vitamins?
I take a women’s, daily, multi-vitamin and have recently started taking a B complex vitamin – which smells like cat food but seriously gives me massive amounts of energy. Maybe it’s all in my head, but I can definitely tell when I haven’t taken either of them!

I don’t take any vitamins, but I have been sluggish lately. Perhaps I should start?
I take a daily vitamin made by Shaklee – it’s got a funky name like Nutriferon or something? It’s supposed to help boost my immune system and appears to help as I’ve been sick much less since I started taking them about a year ago.
I need to get those lentils from our TJ’s here in Minneapolis. They look awesome & I am always looking for something that will really fill me up!
i take a multi vitamin and vitamin C (i think).
per yesterday’s post — i am growing peppers, tomatoes (i did attempt zucchini. eek!) and lettuce, but for some reason i think it’s just not working for me. so I’ll find something else to plant in place of that! and basil & oregano! yummmm!
i love your salads this week! so many good ingredients.
I don’t take any vitamins right now. I have multis in the house, but I forget!
Hi, just found your blog and LOVE it!! I’m having my first Green Monster as we speak. Thanks for all the great ideas.
Do you know if there’s any difference between black lentils and regular? I actually didn’t know black lentils existed until this blog post!
I try to take a few supplements as regularly as I can, but I’m also of the opinion that if you miss a day here and there it’s really no big deal. I take a multi-vitamin for men, CoQ10 chewable (because I don’t like pills and they taste good), fish oil and the occasional probiotic. The probiotic is the one that I can definitely feel a difference. Oddly enough, when I went to a chiropractor about a month ago, he recommended these exact same supplements (minus the CoQ10) for the “average person.” But he also said, eating right and exercising is first and foremost. I think we can all agree on that.
Breakfast looks delicious!! Love your close-up food shots!!
I’m a huge fan of getting antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals from our food- like you’re doing today…but I also take a multivitamin- most every day, and occasionally when I remember, fish oil.
wow you take the most amazing pictures!!! what are beluga lentils?
That travel mug is adorable! Your breakfast looks gorgeous, too. I am so with you on the yogurt + banana combo! The banana adds so much sweetness and flavor, and it’s like magic! Haha.
Your lunch looks gorgeous, too! Love your pictures
Haha ohhh yes, I take so many vitamins. I take 2 women’s multi with iron and 2 fish oil capsules a day. Then for my knees I take 3 glucosamine/chrondroiton capsules, and 2 of a MSM/hyaluronic acid combo. I also take a probiotic 1-2 times a day. I’ll also take a calcium supplement, too.
I try to take a women’s multivitamin when I remember! I am so bad about forgetting to take it though!!
[...] mentioned before that bananas and yogurt are one of my favorite combos. Adding peaches and cottage cheese made the mix even [...]
Beluga lentils are just a fancy name for black lentils

Well, I looked here: http://www.foodsubs.com/Lentils.html and it seems the biggest difference is probably the size/cooking time. Otherwise, I think they’re all pretty much the same!
