Hey, hey, hey – good morning!
Today I have an all day meeting – we’re talking sitting from 9:30-3:30 with no meaningful movement – wretch! Therefore, last night I made the commitment to getting up early this morning and running.
Unfortunately when my alarm went off today, that commitment went out the window. :/ It was dark…the bed was so comfy…you know how it is! So, I’ve packed my bag to hit the gym after work. I’m actually excited – whenever I’m at the gym, I do more than I would it I were just running outside. I’ll hit up the stairmaster, lift some weights, etc. When life gives you lemons…
For breakfast today I saw no choice but to have Banana & Almond Butter Toast. It is so good 
That’s two slices of whole wheat bread, slathered in silky almond butter and topped with sweet banana slices.
I drizzled one slice with some Honey after a bunch of you recommended it last week. Heaven!
We pre-ordered lunch for this afternoon’s meeting from a local deli, so I’ll be having a Turnberry Sandwich with a side of Fresh Fruit coming my way around 12. I am wicked excited for this sandwich – it’s smoked turkey, harvarti cheese, cranberry chutney & cream cheese all on multigrain bread. Kind of like Thanksgiving dinner, in sandwich form! I imagine it will look something like this:
Yuuuuuuum!
So like I mentioned – the new season of America’s Next Top Model that debuted last night is featuring models that are 5’7 and under. Being 5’2 – I was excited to watch and see how it went!
To be honest, the whole episode made me feel icky. I felt like Tyra was just humoring the short girls, knowing that they would never have a real chance in the industry and almost acting like they weren’t as great as her regular, taller contestants.
Maybe I’m being oversensitive, but I look extremely young, sound extremely young and coupled with my short height – I’ve been underestimated my entire life. So feeling like these girls aren’t being taken seriously kind of bugged me. Is there anything you’re sensitive about?
Maybe I just need to get a grip on reality, because this is America’s Next Top Model we’re talking about here!!!

My answers:
1. Dogs – preferably miniature wiener dogs!
2. Regular – doublestuff make me nauseous. However, if you ARE a doublestuff fan, check this out!!
3. Winter – when February comes around, I literally HAVE to get away after being surrounded by snow and ice for 4 months. Plus, it makes going to a warm destination all the more sweet It is pretty brutal coming back though…

Aw, I’m 5’11″ and I still get asked what high school I go to. I’m 25! I figure we just have to look at it that when we’re 40 and people think we look 30, we’ll be happy, right? So we’re just getting used to looking young!

I am sensitive about my height too. I have the episode of ANTM on my DVR so I am curious to watch it now.
Ok, so I watched ANTM last night, and got so annoyed. While yes, these girls are “more average” than the typical ANTM contestants, they’re still just as whiny and obnoxious! I’m sensitive about both my height and weight. I’m pretty sick of seeing only tall twigs in magazines!

3. Winter is nice, but I can go away for longer in the summer… so its a toss-up

3. I used to love the summer vacation, but summer in NYC is pretty amazing…so now I escape in the winter and get away from the cold!

3. Vacationing in winter is great (Michigan in February, not so great) but I just love to travel, so anytime is perfect!
I think how you might feel about the way Tyra acted towards the shorter models, is the same ways she has acted toward the models who are larger than the model norm. I liked Tyra until she started opening her mouth. She preaches self empowerment on her talk show, but then pretty much goes against everything she says on a rather empty show like “ANTM”…..
Just like another reader said, those of us who look young, will just look younger when it means more:)

Well miss! You picked by far the best comforting breakfast to kick start your meeting-filled day. Great choice!! When I was a kid I was scared of PB&Js so my Mom always made me PB & Honey. The honey would crystalize come lunch time and it was my fav!!!! Bananas on top is the best!
That sandwich is my favorite combo ever, but I never can find a good one like that!!! I’ll just have to make it!! I hope your meeting goes quickly and smoothly and your sandwich is yumo!!!

1. I have two cats and 1 chihuahua, and as to which I like best, you may as well ask a mother which child she likes best!

I definitely watched America’s Next Top Model last night too! I didn’t know it was going to be for shorter girls, but I was so excited because I’m also only 5’5″ish. It was fun to see those girls because I thought they looked just as good as the tall models in their pictures.

I am also 5’2 and am always underestimated as I look so young and am petite…it’s so frustrating being called ‘kid’, ‘little girl’, etc when I’m introducing myself to someone! Sighs.

That sandwich looks yummy! My Grandma in Iowa introduced me to Havarti cheese when I was a kid, the only time I have it is when I’m back there. I’m not sure why I never buy it myself out here, but it just feels like something I reserve for visits with Grandma.

I am 5’8 and once considered modeling because someone at the mall approached me.. well, to be honest, it was during a period of my life when I had an eating disorder and seriously weighed 114. that is GROSS! So, perpetuating tall and thin seems like a very unhealthy way to work that show. But I see how that industry works and I guess if it works for them, whatev.
I think shorter women can be models!! Maybe not runway (for whatever reason they ‘can’t ‘ make clothes shorter??) but if you can take a good picture, why not?
Finally, for 3 questions..

Hmmm I didn’t pay enough attention to the epi to notice that. But if it’s true, that’s just wrong!! Having been overweight for my whole life until just a few years ago, I’m extremely sensitive to “fat jokes” and fat comments from people.

And I’ve never understood the height thing with modeling – shorter girls are JUST as beautiful as tall girls. And, in all honesty, who can tell how tall people are in pics?!

I make a similar panini at home – with ciabatta bread, shaved roast turkey breast, havarti, baby spinach leaves and apple-cranberry chutney from Gateway Market. The recipe is from the chutney brand. I love it!

i didnt get the chance to watch ANTM but i’ve heard alot about it. I’ve always felt a little underestimated by my height 5’0 but i LOVE being this short. I wouldn’t want it any other way, i believe as a short girl you can be just as great at modeling as someone who is taller! we just gotta work our size girl! lets be proud!

I’m 5 feet TALL and may have been underestimated before. It just feels so good proving others wrong and surprising people with what I can do.
1. Dogs! I love *nice* cats, too, but it’s hard to tell if one will be a purr machine or will shred you with its claws.
2. Regular Oreos are tasty enough.
3. Nothing is as grand as a warm, sunny spot in Feb. However, we tend to go on vacation in the late summer/early fall when weather is still nice almost anywhere in the US but kids are back in school — smaller crowds.
I’m 5’3″ and by no means considered tall, or even average. I’m sensitive about my height. The thing about being short is knowing that you will always be considered “cute” and never “gorgeous.” Tall girls are always the ones who get the second glances. But then again … I’m probably paranoid and overly sensitive too.
