Dip it Good!

Good afternoon everyone! How goes it?

Girls night was so much fun – we ended up watching Slumdog Millionaire. I also saw it in the theaters and ugh, it is a FANTASTIC movie! The soundtrack, story, setting and acting are unbelievable. Did you see Slumdog? What did you think?

I spent the morning sleeping in (loved it), watching True Life: Behind the Scenes (really good!), folding laundry (bleh!), then went and ran some errands (fun! I love running errands :) ) First though, I had some fuel…Ben fuel – he made us Breakfast Sandwiches!

He baked up some biscuits and layered them with crispy hashbrowns, over-easy eggs, a sausage patty and a slice of American cheese. Take that Mick-e-dees – this was bomb!

This evening we’re heading over to my brother and sister-in-law’s house to play with baby Finn, celebrate my Mom’s birthday (which is tomorrow – fun times will be had, stay tuned!) and to watch the Iowa Hawks whup on Penn State :D

We’ll order pizza for the game, but I’m also bringing Creamy Pickle Dip inspired by those deeeelish pickle bites I had while tailgating last weekend!

After I posted about the bites, reader Pam wrote to tell me there is a MUCH easier way to enjoy this flavor combo – combine equal parts sour cream and cream cheese, dill pickle relish and corned beef. Genius! This tastes exactly like those pickle bites, but was MUCH easier to make. Trust me, the bites are insanely delish, but a pain in the A$$ to make.

Dippers include carrots, Triscuits and celery.

Family time = fun time. I’m excited to hang out with everybody :) Have a great Saturday night everyone!!

  1. I absolutely LOVE Slumdog; I remember thinking about that movie for days after I saw it. Freido Pinto is SO beautiful!

And your version of the Egg McMuffin looks far better than anything that I have ever bought in a drive-thru!

Wish your mom a dear happy birthday for me!

**How far I live from my family = next room over

  4. Lauren says:

Whatever! PSU is going to CRUSH the Hawks! :) LoL. Sorry girl, I love you to piecies but I’m a true PSU fan and alumni!

My hubby is at the rainy white out game tonight! Wish I could be there with him, but I’ll just enjoy it on tv where it is dry and warm.

Hope you guys have a great time. And I hope you don’t get too upset when you see your Hawks get eaten by my Lions! :)

I LOVED Slumdog! It’s not a movie I would want to watch again (well maybe once), but I thought it was fantastically done. I could not stop raving about how genius the musical selections were.

  6. Niki says:

Happy Birthday to your mom!! I haven’t seen Slumdog Millionaire yet! I live about 30 minutes from my parents!

  7. Emily says:

Hope your mom has a great day!!

Those first two pictures LITERALLY made me want to lick my computer…just sayin!

  8. Grace says:

I love Slumdog too! Such a beautiful movie and the ending was fantastic. The kids dancing around at the end made me happy-teary-eyed for some reason.

  9. Lele says:

Umm, putting the hashbrowns ON the breakfast sandwich is GENIUS.

Also, regarding your Kinder Bueno bar the other day- those are the BESSST! My dad started getting them when he traveled on business in Taiwan, so on one wrapper there’d be German, Spanish, and Chinese, hah!

  10. Jenna says:

    I loved Slumdog!

Your bfast sammie looks worlds better than McD’s. While I’ve never had one, anytime I see one, they looks so blah and lifeless.

I live FAR :( . My mom lives in Texas and my brother lives in CA.

  11. Courtney says:

Man, Ben’s a keeper, with bfast sammies like that! And are you kidding about loving running errands? Eww.

  12. Stephanie says:

    1) loved slumdog millionaire!
    2) mom and dad live 7 minutes down the road — love it!
    Have a great night :)

  13. Now I feel like one of the last people who hasn’t seen that movie, but honestly I don’t feel compelled to
My college is 45 minutes away from home, which I think is a distance that works out well

  14. Homemade breakfast sandwiches are wayyyyyy better than fast food.

I watched the True Life special tonight and was in awe. I never really thought about all that goes into producing those and I love that show.

My mom lives 7 hours by car from here. My dad is a 3 hour plane ride and my Mother-in-Law is a 12 hour car ride or 2 hour plane ride. WE don’t see any of them too often.

  15. dipping is my favorite way to eat ANYTHING.

i live 6 hours from my family :(

  16. Molly says:

mmm all that food looks amazing. Ill have to say it but Iowa is having the game of the season right now. Congrats on that :) Hope you enjoyed this gorgeous day!

  17. Pamela says:

Yum! Love Slumdog, but gosh, that’s heavy for a Friday night! And of course, we all know how the Hawks did tonight. : )

Fortunately my ‘lil sis lives with my bro-in-law and nephew just 20 minutes away. But our parents live 1,300 miles away (which MapQuest tells me is more than 20 hours), so we only see them a few times a year. The rest of the family lives 500 miles away. Miss them a lot!

  18. Lizzy says:

aw what a fun saturday! I love hanging out with the family and enjoying good food and company! :)

  19. Lisa says:

From a lurker–I live about 2,400 miles or a 5 hour plane flight away from my family. I only see them about once a year.

    Love your blog!

  20. Barista says:

    That sandwich looks amazing!

I watched that True Life episode, too, and it was super good!

My family is all in Michigan and I’m in Atlanta. I left MI 12 years ago and while I miss them I’m pretty used to it at this point.

  21. Emily says:

    Found it! Thanks. :)
