We Got Wicked!

Wicked was…WICKED!!

First thing’s first – my Mom and I started her birthday celebration by heading downtown to check out the opening of a new sculpture garden in our area.

One of the anchors is this sculpture called “Nomade.” I just love how it sits with a grassy, green hill peeking through the bottom of the sculpture, and the sky as the blue background up top.

My Mom took this picture – quite the little photographer, no?

As you can see, it was a GORGEOUS day!

The sculptures that make up the garden are worth $27 million dollars and were donated by John & Mary Pappajohn – local Iowans who are ranked among the worlds top private collectors of art.

After winding our way through the sculptures, it was time…time to get Wickified!!

Wicked is the untold story of the “good” and “wicked“ witches of Oz. It was such an imaginative story and we were mesmerized from start to finish. Oh, and the VOICES on this cast! I am just in awe of people that have the gift of entertainment. It’s a talent that can be honed and refined – but a voice and ability to act are God given gifts. I’m so glad I got a chance to see this – it’s been on my must see list for years. Next I’d like to get my hands on the book!

After the musical we had some dinner at a local Thai restaurant – Cool Basil. Cool Basil understands that Iowan’s like it hot – they gave us our own heat level!

I got the Chef recommended Kua Kai, which is pan-fried flat rice noodles sautéed with sliced chicken, egg, bean sprouts, onion, garlic and a house special sauce.

It was…to die for. I had about half and brought my leftovers home to Ben :)

Today has been an awesome day – start to finish. Hope yours was the same! See you on the flip side!

I saw the musical Wicked before it got super popular and LOVED it. Probably one of my all time faves. :-) I think I have just about all the songs memorized, heehee.

Your pumpkin pancakes look gorgeous. I also made some this week, and they perfectly complement the start of fall!
