Attack of the Abominable Speed Walker

42

Isn’t personal taste funny? I loved hearing what you guys “won’t even eat roasted” last night. Do you think taste is nature or nurture? I think it’s a little of both. I happen to hate cooked carrots because I was forced to finish my pot roast dinners when I was growing up, but I have no reason to hate mushrooms and bell peppers. It’s crazy how one man’s culinary trash, is another man’s treasure, no?

In other news, it was attack of the (smiling)  abominable speed walker today – the windchill was 42 degrees for my morning Mom walk! I decked myself out in thick pants, sweat shants (short pants), a t-shirt, thin hoodie and a thick hoodie! My ankles were cold where my shants didn’t cover them – but I was toasty warm everywhere else :)

Well I have oodles of pumpkin cream cheese leftover from yesterday – which is actually more like pumpkin with cream cheese. The ratio is about 4:1, pumpkin to cream cheese. This morning I concocted up a divine way to use some up: Pumpkin-Banana Breakfast Wrap.

IMG_9863

I took one Flat Out Wrap, spread it with said pumpkin cream cheese, layered on a sliced banana and sprinkled the entire thing with some sliced almonds.

IMG_9865

With a flick of the wrist, I rolled the whole thing up, sliced and chowed. It was a masterpiece :)

I absolutely love lunches like this because I can basically snack my way through the afternoon – who wouldn’t want an entire afternoon of snacks?! :)

Off to work – have a great day everyone!

Tell me Tuesday: What’s your natural hair color?

My freshman year of college I truly believed I could be a blonde and proceeded to put hideously unnatural blonde streaks in my naturally dark, brunette hair. I finally came to my senses, realized I’ll never be blonde, embraced my inner brunette and have never looked back – wheee!

Haha I love the outfit. I look like that when it’s in the 50s though! This Texas girl can’t take the cold at all!!! Good thing it’s still in the 90s this week :)

I was the same about my hair color. Naturally, I have dark brown hair like yours and tried to have blond highlighted hair for years. It looks pretty bad when I look at old pictures. Oh well…

oh wow. that was me this AM too! Except I had my hoodie tied super tight!

    Natural hair color = ????????
I started dying my hair in 8th grade to brighten up my dishwater blonde hair (to golden blonde) and have been several different colors since then. It grows back kind of dark now … so mousy brown? It gets really blonde in the summer though. Who knows! It’s dark brown now though.

I’ve been dying my hair since i was about 13, a variety of colors from clare-danes-in-my-so-called-life red to what it is now, a bright blonde. I think my natural hair color is a light red-brown

Hahah love the morning walk getup! Last night my Dad made roasted chicken and I didn’t eat the cooked carrots in the veggie mix. To me, carrots are just blech when all mushy.
My favorite PURE bar so far is the one your munching on today, because that’s the only one I’ve tried so far!!! I know, terrible.
My natural hair color is like dishwater blonde. Haven’t really seen it in a while so couldn’t really tell yah. Have a great day love!

Natural hair color is red/strawberry blonde. I never used to like it because I was always different but now I love it!
Pure bars are amazing, can’t wait to go to TJ’s and get more in Minneapolis soon. Snacky lunches are the best!

I went apple picking on saturday and got 20lbs of honeycrisp apples for $0.89/lb – no joke…I think I went a little overboard :)

My hair was white until I was 5 years old. Golden blonde up until the age of 20 and now its more of a dark blonde. Crazy how it has changed over the years!

My hair has become naturally dirty blonde/light brown over the years (bye bye natural blonde locks) and now I color it to lighten it up :) I’m thinking of changing it up and not going quite so light this next time around — but we’ll see!! I go to a salon that only uses Aveda products, which are natural and don’t completely ruin your hair – which is so crucial if you color your hair often I think.

I got some honeycrisps (my FAVORTITE) for 1.49/lb at Fareway. Not sure if they’re still on sale, but they’re also a nice small size.

My hair is blonde. Though it has gotten a little darker blonde in the past few years.

You look so cute all bundled up! Totally putting me in the winter mood a little prematurely though… haha. I’m a natural light golden blonde all the way. Haven’t processed my hair in over two years! :)

The speed walk outfit is awesome! Go you!!

I’m naturally a brunette but totally went through the longest blond highlights faze… it looked good when I had them done at the salon but let’s just say that at-home highlighting kits were tragic for my hair.

  13. Comment Callout

I actually naturally have red hair! It was more of an orange-red while I was growing up and now it’s become more auburn. I used to HATE it when I was a kid because I was the ONLY one with red hair and I wanted to be blonde. Now I’ve embraced it and I’m super proud to be a redhead!

I have no idea what my natural hair color is.. last I saw of it (in 6th grade?) it was dirrrty blonde.. but since it has been platinum (what it normally is..i’m from socal!), black, brown, every color inbetween those 2, pink, purple, and red… i was very into change in highschool.

That wrap looks killer! It was 43 degrees here this morning as well – my bike ride to work was not the greatest!!
My natural hair color is blonde. Darker in winter and super light if I lay out in the sun a lot! I’ve never dyed it – I like being a blondey!

  23. Comment Callout

I love the term Shants :-) I wear them for as long as possible until I think my ankles will get frost bite. I don’t like pants at the gym but I don’t like having to change there either since I only live 5 minutes from there. So I suffer until I can’t stand the freezing from my house to the van and the van to the gym.

I love snacking days. It somehow makes me think I’m eating more even though I’m still eating the same amount of food just spread out. Crazy mind tricks.

My natural hair color is a reddish blond/brown. I used to dye it really red for awhile to make me more interesting. Then I got blonde highlights once. Now I love the color it is and occassionally getting highlights. I’m not too good as a “redhead” so I like the way my real hair looks.

It used to be light blonde…but age has turned it muddy dish water brown. So I color it light blonde in the summer, medium to dark blonde in the fall/ winter. I actually kind of like it the darker color. And I LOVE cooked carrots! I thought I hated them cuz mom always cooked the nasty mushy canned ones, then I discovered the fresh ones! Much better! I’ve never tried a Pure bar, but I’m going to. Kashi TLC Pumpkin Pie Bars are sure tasty!

It’s crazy, but I’ve never dyed my hair. Once, I tried putting sun highlights in it when I was 13 (using peroxide – gross!!). Other than that, I’ve always been a brunette.

(though I’m starting to get some grey hairs – eek!)

I had the exact opposite experience freshman year of college! I am a natural blond and died my hair dark brown freshman year to try something new and different. It ended up washing out within a few washes. Throughout college I tried different shades of brown and none of them stuck and my true blond hair color would be back within a week. I’ve finally embraced it and stopped dying it!

I am brunette as well, and I do have to say I did try to lighten it. Well let’s just say it looked a bit orange. I looked back through photos and realized I was completely washed out. I just dyed my hair back to its brunette tresses and I am officially down with the brown again! That sucks about the honey crisps I will eat one today in your honor:)

It was about the same temp here in MO this morning, too. But I didn’t get out until about 7:30, so didn’t need quite as many layers. :) That wrap looks divine!

At age 31, I am proud to say I still have my natural brown hair color, and have never once colored it. It does get some nice blond highlights from the sun in the summer, though. It’s not the most exciting shade, but for some reason I have never felt compelled to change it.

I love your idea of pumkin cream cheese! Yummy! My natural hair color is a medium brown. I’ve tried the multiple blonde highlights but it’s SO much work to keep up. I don’t know how bottle blondes do it! I usually keep my hair it’s natural color or a dye it a darker brown (usually during the winter).

Pumpkin cream cheese?! I’m so making that!! My natural color is brown, but I’ve always wanted to go blonde. I tried to dye my hair blonde myself last summer and it ended up WAY brassy – and nowhere near blonde. I tried again – still brassy. Finally I just went dark brown (darker than my natural brown) and loved it. But eventually that lightened lighter than my natural color and went brassy again! So now I’m just growing it out and never dying it again! haha

    Hey Kristin!

Clearly you will think I am the “Queen of pumpkin” with all my pumpkin suggestions LOL! Your pumpkin cream cheese reminded me of another yummy use for pumpkin. I like to combine equal parts pumpkin and any kind of nut butter and use it as a spread anywhere you’d use nut butter (bagels, toast, flatout, etc.)
