Hi friends
I had to leave work a little early today because I was feeling slightly ill
What’s happening? I literally go years without getting sick, and then I get struck down 2 times in one month? I’m hoping an early bed time and a good night’s sleep will help nip this guy in the bud.
Per my queasishisness, I wanted something really light and refreshing for dinner, so I made a Fruit & Yogurt Parfait that was almost too beautiful to eat…almost.
In the mix:
- Banana
- Pomegranate Seeds
- Raspberry yogo
- Bear Naked Fruit & Nut Granola
I just HAD to take a picture of my parfait before I added the granola. I’m not a super girly-girl – but I have an unnatural love for anything pink…look at this precious bowl!
Don’t you just want to squeeze it or something? It looks like a bowl of pink diamonds…
Ooook – time to add the granola. Which was a STELLAR addition.
Now I understand what all the fuss is about Bear Naked Granola – it’s honestly the best granola I’ve ever had. True, you know me as the girl who likes everything she eats…well except for the Indian FAIL…but honestly this granola was perfect.
Slightly soft and chewy, but with that satisfying granola crunch. Add in some whole, crunchy almonds, walnuts & pecans with tender raisins – and you’ve got a sure-fire winner!
This parfait was exactly what I needed to sooth my stomach and was soooo delicious – one of the best meals I’ve had in a really long time! The cold yogurt and creamy banana were the absolute perfect pairing with the chewy granola and poppy pomegranate seeds. YUM!
In other news, did you know that your wrist has a “funny bone?” I banged mine on a shelf and my entire wrist went limp…I couldn’t lift it for anything!! I actually kind of freaked out and took a picture to document the occasion…
Ahhh – two minutes later I had my wrist back and just a little scrape as evidence of the scare. Weird!!
I’m going to take it easy tonight, rest and drink plenty of liquids – hopefully I’ll be up bright eyed and bushy tailed in the a.m.! Good night everyone!

What’s your favorite cereal or granola?

Hope you get well soon. I love adding frozen fruit and either cereal or granola to my Greek yogurt. Your parfait looks like something I would make myself. Gotta love the Bear Naked samples in the mail.
I love the Archer Farm’s Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti Granola
Aww, so sorry to hear that you are feeling under the wheater. Hopefully, this is just one of those odd-ball spells of illness that only last a few hours. Get some good rest and you will be back to yourself in the morning!
PS- Love the Bare Naked Granola. It’s definitely a close second to my favorite. My heart will always stay true to Zoe’s Granola as being Numero Uno! And it’s so devastating because my store no longer carries it. I have been mindlessly serarching for it for weeks now!!!!! AHh, I must find it soon or I will go crazy.
Haha, I just came back from a human anatomy lab practical, and the carpal (wrist) bones were on that test. That’s really weird about what happened! Maybe you hit a nerve?
I love Galaxy granola! Bear Naked is super yummy, too. And that parfait looks amazingly gorgeous. The pom seeds look like pink pearls
What a tasty meal! I hope you feel better soon!
My favorite cereals/granola:

Everyone at work is getting sick too, what is goin’ on?! I am praying I stay okay for my roadtrip this weekend! :/ Hope you feel better tomorrow, the parfait was gorgeous and I feel ya on the pink love – so cute!
It says that my previous comment is awaiting moderation – hope you received it!!
I love pommegranates. I used to eat them every fall with family. Pretty pink diamonds is a good description.
Hope you feel better. I had granola and yogurt with some apples tonight for dinner. Bear Naked Vanilla ALmond is my favorite.
Your parfait is beautiful! I’m a sucker for anything pink!
I hope you feel better!
That parfait looks so refreshing. I totally should have had something like that instead of the pizza and cupcake I had. I am totally paying for it now
There has got to be something going around the midwest, I feel like everybody I know is sick!
My favorite cereal, of recent at least, is Fiber One Honey Clusters.
Yes, actually I did know about that bone/nerve area on the hand! Unfortunately, I’m a bit of a klutz so I’ve hit that same spot more than once. It’s scary!!
I love breakfast themed dinners. Honestly I think of all breakfast foods as comfort foods so I totally get why you chose that instead of a more dinner-y meal….hope you feel better!
i have never tired barenaked granola, yet i see it at the store all the time. i think i’ll pick some up next time. tho i’m not sure i can be trusted around it! ahahah i hope you feel better girl!
Good call on the fruit for dinner. That always helps me when I don’t feel good!
I hope you fight it off!
When I saw your pomegranate seeds in picture #1 I immediately had a smile on my face. They’re such a vibrant, beautiful color, and I’m sure were amazing in the parfait. A pomegranate is definitely on my list for the next grocery trip.
Hope you’re soon feeling better
It seems like everyone is getting a cold these days… I hope it passes soon! Yogurts is always a good option! Hope you feel better!
Bear naked granola is amazing, if it wasn’t so expensive I would buy it all the time!
hi! i read your site regularly (or at least try to) but have never left a comment. however, i went back & read the post about the red lentil dal which i’d missed before. here’s a recipe i use for dal, and i am queen of not following directions–so if this works for me, anyone can do it! and it’s SO good. i got it from the cookbook twitter girl (http://twitter.com/cookbook)
red lentil dal
saute an onion in 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 t cumin
after a bit (it should smell lovely) add the following to the onions:
1-2 t each (depending on taste) of garlic, ginger, chili powder & curry powder (the more chili, the spicier it is)
simmer for awhile, 5 minutes or so
add 1 cup red lentils and 3 cups water
simmer for about 20 minutes until it’s condensed down and is all mushy dal-y delicious
blend in some lemon juice and butter (recipe calls for 2tbsp each, i use whatever i eyeball to be enough)
serve with cilantro, rice, tomatoes and sour cream
hope it works for you if you ever give it a try! love your site so it’s a small way of saying thanks
Hope you feel better soon! I’ve never had pomergante seeds… they look pretty though! My favorite cereal would be any Kashi Brand!!
take care and get well soon! your pomegranate parfait looks fantastic!
How funny! (har har). Love bear naked granola. AND pomegranate seeds! So pretty
So sorry to hear that you;re sick again–POM seeds would make me feel better though:)
Fave cereal is definitely GoLean, fave granola is Nature’s Path Pumpkin Flax.
Sorry you weren’t feeling well…but you’re dinner looks so great! I love the pink pomegrante seeds! Yum.
I LOVE your blog! I’ve become a huge fan being a midwest girl myself (Missouri… Go TIGERS!)
Would love to know where you found the pomegranate seeds — did you scrape out by hand? Such a pain but so yummy. I’m wondering if there is a shortcut?
Hope you feel better soon!
Okay, don’t laugh… but how do you eat your pomegranate? Do you swallow the seeds? I can’t get myself to do that.. I wish there was a seedless pomegranate because the juice is to DIE for. There’s always a little girl inside me saying, if you eat watermelon seeds you’ll grow a watermelon in your belly…
