Good morning BB!
It was raining this morning so no Mom walk, but it was an excellent excuse for burrowing under the covers for an extra 30 minutes. Usually I’m a big advocate of taking advantage of “found time” – but sometimes I’m a bigger advocate for staying in a nice, warm bed!
For breakfast, I went the quick, easy and portable route: Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Cereal and a French Vanilla Bean AE yogurt.
I actually prefer to eat most cereals dry, as opposed to with milk. I think it’s because I’m afraid it’ll turn to the consistency of soggy Fruity Pebbles circa 1993 too quickly. Sickening!
All together with a sweet little pumpkin that I keep on my windowsill. I also keep one on my desk at work. It makes me happy and sometimes it’s the little things that help get us through the day, you know? Do you keep anything special on your desk? I also keep a bottle of coconut scented lotion there so I can be whisked off to a tropical island at a moment’s notice…
Without hesitation, I packed some of my Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup + Heaven in Fruit Form for lunch!
The great thing about this soup is that it gets better and better, the longer it sits. The noodles soak up more and more of the broth and get chewier and chewier…amazing!
I was this close to having one of these babies for breakfast too…they are so good!
I’m heading to the gym again after work tonight – I actually think it’s easier to stay on a schedule when I’m working out in a gym, as opposed to outdoors. The weather is so un-predictable at times and especially in the summertime, I’d decide I was going to run outdoors, but by the time I got home I deemed it too hot, etc. By eliminating the weather aspect and going to the gym, there’s nothing standing in my way!
It’s off to work, work, work – then I’m decorating sugar cookies tonight! See past projects here, here and here!
Have a great Tuuuuuuuesday!

How long is your commute to work or school?
If I hit a certain 2 minute window, it’s about 15 minutes door to door. If I miss that precious window – it’s about 22-23!

i absolutely agree — the gym does eliminate that weather factor. but then it’s also difficult when it’s freeeeezing outside, and who wants to stumble out of bed into the car on the way to the gym. BRR! but for now i’m hitting the gym on tuesday and thursday — at least til my half marathon is over on saturday!
my commute to work — is about 20 to 25 minutes. to get home it’s about 40 to 45 minutes.
My commute is 8 miles and usually takes 15 minutes unless I get stuck behind a school bus-but I have figured out the bus schedule now so hopefully it won’t happen!
What kind of egg noodles do you use for your soup? I made some chicken broth last night and am going to finish my soup later this week but your noodles look better than the ones I usually use.
Those apples look amazing! I would be eating one at every meal!:) Your sugar cookies are gorgeous! I can make some tasty ones, but they’re never that pretty. Glad I found your blog, Amy
18 minutes! Thank goodness for the T! (Boston’s subway!)
I actually eat major amounts of plain shredded wheat dry all the time, partly to avoid the sogginess and partly because I mix it with almonds and dried fruits for a quick snack a lot.
Anyway, on my desk (after about a 25 minute commute) I always have hand sanitizer and lotion.
Are those Remes noodles? My mom used to make the best chicken soup with those (back in my bird eating days).
I used to eat cereal dry all the time but I find that yogurt doesn’t make things soggy as quick so I use that. I also usually add it in stages so there’s never a soggy lump at the end.
My commute lasts 5 minutes walking.
I’m sp lucky to live on campus. I would find it impossible otherwise though because I’ve never lived further than 2/3 minutes walking from my front door to my classroom door because we moved across town the same year I moved from primary to secondary school.
xox
ahhhh i HATE soggy cereal too – not okay. i keep pictures, hand sanitizer and lotion at my desk. random, but useful
a 20 minute walk to work and a 20 minute walk home
have a wonderful day kristin!
I would bet that you are making leaf sugar cookies, and if that’s true I have a recommendation – maple frosting. Just add maple extract to whatever frosting you are using and it will rock your socks
I keep a picture of all my nieces & nephews at my desk to help keep me going!
You chicken soup looks amazing – what kind of noodles did you use?
As for my commute, it’s a nice traffic free 10 minute drive. As opposed to my 45 minute subway ride when I lived in Boston!
Soggy cereal is the worst. I never eat it with milk, always with yogurt which makes it much more filling too. Yum, that soup looks amazingly comforting and delicious!!
I love cereal without milk too because of the yucky sogginess!
My commute to work is awesome now that I’m in Iowa, I walk 10 minutes!
What a bummer…. I hate it when my workouts get rained out! The gym is always an option… I just love the outside too much! I live in DC and live 6.5 miles from work… traffic is so bad that on a bad day it can take close to 60 minutes to get there! Ugh!!
I bought that Kashi cereal after you described it being similar to the -ever so delicious/eat the entire box in one sitting- Cinn. Toast Crunch.
The cereal is good and filling and I don’t want to wolf down 3 big bowls like I did with my Special K with Red Berries.
I’m taking a leaf out of your book and putting a punkin on my desk to help get me in the feel for Fall (my mind is skipping to Winter, so that will help). As of right now, I have my Ty beanie baby elephant on it. It helps hold my tea stirrer down while it steeps Oh and a bobble hula monkey whose stickiness wore out so it wouldn’t work on my dash anymore.
My commute, depending on route and the time I leave, can range from 25 – 40 minutes. Thank goodness for iPods.
I keep a couple of pictures and some nice smelling lotion on my desk. Sometimes having those things makes the day tons better!
My commute to work is about 20 minutes. Until 3 months ago it was an hour so I’m thankful for the shorter drive each time I head out the door!
My commute used to only be about 7 minutes, with a 7 minute walk into work. After I moved it can now range anywhere from 19 minutes (+walk) to 35 minutes depending on traffic. While I am at training on certain weeks (i.e. this week) it can go anywhere from 25 to 50 minutes…!!! Not liking this week obviously haha.
Your photographs are amazing! The beautiful apple footage makes me want to bite through the computer! LOL
Well I stay at home so I have a really short commute. But check this out; Van drives for a living so his commute is all day long! :{
Have a great Tuesday yourself!
I so want to try those amazing apples you keep picturing and talking about……they look SO GOOD! =(
My commute is only about 15min (give or take) as well…..and I love it, I used to have a 45+ minute commute (each way) and hated it!
=) Laura @ Finding A Healthy Balance
I take my baby to daycare, so my commute is about 35 minutes. When I can con my hubbs into dropping baby off, it only takes me 15 minutes…
I am going to make that soup ASAP! Thanks for sharing your family recipe! My grandma is known for soups too! Must be an Ohio thing, or maybe a grandma thing??
I have an apple for a snack today too! My commute is about 15 mintues depending on traffic – I think it takes me almost 5 minutes to drive through campus to get to my office – it is about as far away from the entrance as you can get!
when I was going to makeup school. i’d commute 2 hours ONE WAY.. im so glad I moved.. 2 hours changed to 30 minutes!!
now I travel all over the city for work.. so it differs.
I love honeycrisp apples <3 and homemade soup! yum
I eat my cereal dry too! When I was little I hated soggy cereal and it just stuck. People think it’s weird but I don’t care
Sometimes now if I have a random bowl of kashi crunchy I’ll put some yogurt in it cause that stuff is hard to chew!
My commute is roughly 7 minutes door to door. I love it! I get to go home for lunch every day!
Wow-you make some pretty great looking cookies! I agree with the indoors thing. I never know when it is going to rain, and then I am messed up for the whole day. Can’t wait to see the cookies later!
I’m so jealous – I really really really wanted to snuggle under my covers this morning with the rain pattering on the windows, but alas, I had to get up and go to work. Outside. In the rain. Yick.
I live in the country, so for the most part, I don’t have to worry too much about traffic. On days I take my daughter to preschool in the next town over, it takes 20-25 min to travel ~15 mi. The days I work, it takes 10-15 min to take the kids to the sitter 3 mi up the road, then come back to work at my family’s dairy farm across the road from my house.
I’m a dry cereal girl too. I don’t like the fact that it may get soggy if I put the incorrect amount of milk or have to leave it unexpectedly. I’m more likely to have a glass of milk to drink with it if I want the flavor.
My commute is a sum total of 2 minutes. That’s how long it takes me to pick up my laptop, water bottle and snack and head downstairs. Our apartment is on top of the church
My commute to school varies. If I’m lucky, it will only take 25 minutes. There’s usually so much traffic throughout the day here that it often takes me an hour though.
Hmmm, dry cereal, you can be surprised any day of the week! I have never tried or witnessed a ‘Dry-Cereal Eater’ but after all the comments, I think I will try it myself.
Everything special to me is on my nightstand: hand cream, special picture, candle, books and a few words of wisdom. My desk has a large vision/dream collage which helps me stay focused on the ‘real’ stuff.
My drive to school is a nice 15 minutes and it is half side streets, half freeway. I don’t like to drive, but I always like the drive to and from school, always have.
Your cookies are so cute! Can’t wait to see what you do this time!
I just want to tell you, your dedication to working out is so inspiring! I’ve been in a rut with working out lately, and am having the hardest time getting back on track! Thanks for reminding me daily that it can be done.
Hey girlie girl! I forgot how much I love Kashi Cinnamon Harvest!! YUM! I need to get some and quick! (although I do love it with milk)
That chicken noodle soup looks amazing. I’ve been doing a lot of talking about making and freezing some homemade soups – I think it’s time to get on it!
My commute is about 12 minutes door to door!
My commute to school is about 40 mins. It’s worth it though to not have to live in the city! I love the ‘burbs! Hehe:) Plus I carpool with someone so that makes it even better!
I leave for work from the gym each morning, so my commute is only 15-20 minutes. But when I hit the snooze it’s been 30-40 minutes. I try not to hit the snooze.
Hi Kristen!
Where did you find that adorable duck cookie cutter? Those cookies are a fantastic idea for mother’s to be!
I love dry cereal too–I almost never eat it in a bowl with milk!
Thank’s for letting us know about the noodles…my husband & I have been trying to find those exact kind for long time.
I’m with ya on the Reeses PB cups! Those are my fav too!
Have a nice evening.

So sorry to hear you don’t like sogy Fruity Pebbles! I loved when they soaked up all of the milk in the bowl after letting them sit for 10 minutes:) I’m a midwestern girl, too, so it’s nice to see another one blogging out there:)
