Morning!
Ok…it’s cold now.
All that bragging I’ve done the past couple days has finally caught up with me! I think this clearly calls for a Starbucks run. For me, cold = Starbucks. No-foam Skinny Vanilla Latte, here I come!
First, breakfast – a Fruit & Yogurt Parfait!
In the mix:
- 1 Raspberry Vanilla yogurt
- 1/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 banana
- 1 Braeburn apple
- Dash of cinnamon
Last night I mixed half my yogurt with the oats.
Then this morning I stirred in the rest of my yogurt and topped with a sliced banana, chopped apple and dash of cinnamon!
Wow – this was crazy delish! I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again – bananas and yogurt are the ultimate combo.
And I am absolutely loving how the oats become super chewy and almost cottage cheese like in the yogurt overnight. I will be repeating this!
Talk about another ultimate combo – a Turkey & Cheese Sandwich. Aka, today’s lunch!
We’ve got roasted turkey, cheddar cheese, pickle slices and hot sauce (I know! I think I might like hot sauce now?!) on whole wheat bread.
I rarely pack sandwiches for lunch and I’m not sure why. They’re super portable, can be extremely healthy, and can easily be made the night before.
To make sure mine doesn’t soggify before lunch (just the worst) I layer my hot sauce and pickles inside the cheese and turkey. This keeps the bread nice and dry!
In other news, I am the lucky recipient of the Kreativ Blogger award from Lauren at Eat, Drink, and Be Hopeful! You guys should definitely check out this girl’s site – she’s got some real winning recipes on her hands.
Per the Kreativ Blogger award, I am to let you know 7 things about me, then pass on the award. Fab! Heeeere we go:
- I have liked every movie I’ve ever seen. Seriously! I get completely wrapped up and enjoy each one for what they have to offer. I can only think of one exception to this fact: the movie Wanted with Angelina Jolie. It is literally one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen!
- My most hated word is “steamy.”
- I could watch the movie “Little Women” and read the book “Memoirs of a Geisha” over and over again.
- If I could instantly absorb and excel in one artistic talent, it would be painting.
- I am obsessed with growing my savings account.
- I have no idea what I’ll be doing 5 years from now. Literally, cannot even imagine. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing!
- If I could go back to school, one of the things I’d consider getting is a second degree in is Japanese history.
There you have it folks! Now, I’d like to pass on zee lovely, Kreativ Blogger Award to…
Kristin @ The Kitchen Sink Recipes: One of the classiest, interesting and first blogs I ever read – Kristin’s photographs and stories sweep me away every time I visit. Plus, she’s a Midwestern girl like myself!
With that – have a great Wednesday everyone!

Tell me one interesting fact about yourself!

I love every movie I’ve ever seen, too! I’m a TERRIBLE critic. I don’t care for action movies, but once I watch them I like them!
Japanese History? That’s a very interesting subject I never would have guessed.
For me, I think it’s a rule that I need the TV on to do work. The white noise just helps me focus so much better
Awesome facts!!
Fact about me = I can do a mean robot dance
I’m the exact same way about movies!! I love all books too!
When everyone asks me what my 5 year plan is I’m so scared because I don’t have anything to tell them. I know I can succeed in whatever I decide to do but I’m glad I’m not the only one that just doesn’t know.
Have a good day!!
Love your facts!! The good weather seems to be leaving NY too
I have broken 6 of my fingers from playing basketball. Not all at the same time either.
I love yogurt parfaits! And Starbucks sounds great right now, warms me up fast!
so fun..I don’t love every movie, but i do really enjoy getting wrapped up in them or a book. LOOOVE teh book little women!
Haha, “Wanted.” I enjoyed that movie until they introduced the loom o’ doom and the world’s longest, never-ending hallway (in the ending.)
Interesting fact… Hmmm… Ok, I have hiked and walked through the canopy in Borneo’s rainforests.
My birth certificate is on the back of a french map. My parents were military and the Army was saving paper at the time. I had to have my mom explain this to the guidance secretary when I wanted to get working papers in HS.
I can repair holes in sweaters with nothing more than a pair of tweezers.
I’m a movie lover too… but I LOVED Wanted. I thought it was so kick-A. Ridiculous sure, but it was sure awesome in its ridiculousness.
I’m known as the music and movie go-to girl throughout my friends and family. They always ask me what a line is from, what melody is which song, or ask if I own it so they can borrow it. Along with this, my memorization skills are seriously off the charts… I couldn’t tell you how many songs I’ve memorized, let alone how many Disney movies I could quote to you by heart if given the opportunity.
Thank you so much, Kristin! Such kind words.
Great facts! I wished I loved every movie I’ve ever seen
I’m too picky
I LOVED Wanted! My fact? I’m a sucker for a cheesy song or movie or show.
My husband pointed this out to me the other day………..I love to watch “Hallmark” movies! I never noticed it until he said that. I find myself clicking on the channel a lot. They always have good and touching movies on there, at least to me that is. =)
Um I am 100% on board with the yogurt and banana thing. It was one of the very first “healthy” things I started eating and it is the BEST!
You are so nice. Thank you so much! Lovin the sandwich today. It seems like a sandwich kind of day.
Muesli is really good soaked overnight in yogurt too, I love the way it plumps up and the flavors blend.
I have a steel tack in my left thumb. I broke the ligament off the bone when I was 18 and didn’t know it until I realized I lost all strength in my thumb. I couldn’t even hold a pen. I told my mom, we went to the Dr. and I had emergency surgery the next morning. I also made them wake me up before stitching the skin together – I wanted to see the little guy!
Im totally impressed that you have liked every movie you have ever seen.. I wish I was more open minded!! Lol
Your fruit and yogurt looks yummy
I cannot stand the word squirt. It is too graphic! And I have a fear of maple syrup. Those are the two most off the wall facts about me.
I get wrapped up in some movies too, so much that I “discuss” them with my husband for days. Love the yogurt – I’ve gotta try that overnight thing!
I rarely walk out of a movie early, but I walked out of “Wanted”. It was just ridiculous! Actually, I sucked it up until almost the end, but then I was like, “I totally don’t even care how this ends. It’s so stupid I can’t bring myself to sit here another minute.”
Fact-Once I start watching a movie, no matter how BAD…AWFUl..you name it, I have to see how it ends. ONly movie I ever waked out of and didn’t finish was the one where the boy pees in the lemonade – can’t think of the name!!! Grabbed the kids, grandma and walked out-even asked the manager for my money back=request denied
Fact: Birds make me extremely uncomfortable to be around but I love drawings/paintings of them. I am a weirdo.
Your parfait looks delicious! And I love that you hate the word “steamy.” Too funny!
now that you say it, steamy really is a weird word. hmmm good thing I dont like romance novels
haha
Fun Factx2:
1. Im a triplet…and the shortest of the 3, at 5 feet 11inches (um yeah, we breed basketball teams in my family apprently)
2. I will always have a place in my heart for the state of Iowa. And who knows, I may even move back there someday
I don’t know how to cook. Fact.
I’ve become extremely interested in exercise (thanks to Cody, my personal trainer)… and that has lead me to an interest in preparing healthy meals (that don’t include PB&Js or boxed mac & cheese). And stumbling across your blog has completely changed the way I view food and cooking. My fiance actually likes the meals I’m making now! Thanks to your awesome recipes and easy-to-understand instructions/pics, I’m really enjoying the time spent in my kitchen! Thanks Kristin! Love your blog!
Random fun fact: me, the ultimate, Jcrew preppy girl, worked at a skateboarding shop at the age of 15 putting together decks, etc.
Congrats on the Kreativ Blogger Award! Is there a motivational blogger award? If not, let’s pretend for a sec here. I’ve always wanted to run, but ended up spraining my foot when I actually dived into running. After hating myself (and my foot) for months, you motivated me to try again. So, I did! And I’m running 3-3.5 miles 3-4 times a week. I absolutely love it, and I hope I can eventually start running further.
Thanks Kristin
Fun fact about me, related to one of yours: My mother, sister and I have watched Little Women together every Christmas since the “new” version came out on VHS. Can’t wait for the next viewing!
One of my other favorites: Pride and Prejudice, the Keira Knightley version (love the PBS version, too).
