Road Trip: Shopping Edition!

Edward!!!! o…m…g. Ben stopped watching Twilight with me last night because I was grinning and swooning like a lovesick teenager the entire time! I LOVED the movie! Sure, as some of you mentioned, the special effects were a little low budget and there were a few corny parts in the movie – but overall, the tortured love story and ahem, Robert Pattinson aka Edward Cullen, won me over. I debated going to a midnight screening of New Moon!!!

Alas, I couldn’t because I’m up early to head to the Mall of America today!!

The Mall of America is in Bloomington, MN – about 15 minutes outside of downtown Minneapolis – and in case you didn’t know, the MOA has…

  • 20,000 parking spaces, 520 stores and 50 restaurants
  • Light rail transit to and from the airport and downtown Minneapolis
  • The nation’s largest indoor theme park
  • NO SALES TAX ON CLOTHING
  • 4.3 miles of total store front footage
  • A consistent, indoor temperature of 70 degrees
  • 4 levels, each .57 miles around
  • Enough space to fit 258 Statue of Liberty’s inside
  • 40 million visitors annually

How’s THAT for a mall?

My Mom and I are heading up to spend the entire day basking in the Christmas shopping glory, reveling in the beautiful holiday decorations and spending time in the great city of Minneapolis. I haven’t been back since my friend’s bachelorette party last May!

In case you didn’t know, I lived in Minneapolis for three years right after college. I have so many memories of learning how to live on my own and become an “adult”, so it hold a very special place in my little heart. :)

If you liked the movie, you’ll LOVE the books! I saw New Moon last night and it was good. Mall of America?! Oh, I’d love to go there. I thoroughly enjoy big malls.

The big thing that I’m asking for, for Christmas, is a Kindle (which is like an electronic book), but other than that, some cooking stuff, magazine subscriptions and clothes. :)

The mall of america is nice… but a bit overwhelming. I have to be mentally prepared for a trip there.

    Have a fun shopping!

I hoard magazines like no other. I have TONS from when I was even in my teens. I have huge bins of them. I love them. No clue what I’m planning to do with them, though…

Oh I would love to go that mall, if only for the experience! Sounds like it’s going to be a FUN day!

I used to go to King of Prussia when I lived in Philly, and that one is big, but not as huge as the one you’re going to. Now, I live in Atlanta near two really “fancy” malls… so I tend to just stay away! :)

Kristin! I am so jealous. I hear that this Mall is the Promised Land of all Malls. You shop your cute little heart out.

And PS- the PBJ Lara bar is great! Really tastes like the real thing.

    Have a blast! :)

That mall looks awesome. I’ve always wanted to go. My grandparents went and brought me back an abercrombie t-shirt that you could get anywhere around here. What an odd souvenir to bring from such a special place

Do post all your loot when you get back! I just had a mini shopping spree on Thursday at lunch. I used some old gift cards and hit Sephora and Target. Fun!

For Christmas I just ordered myself a Canon 30D and lens off ebay. I can’t wait!

Oh, the book was soooooooo much better than the movie!! I think I may have actually thought it was a good movie if I hadn’t read the book first. That series is so addictive, it’s not even funny!

  14. Comment Callout

Don’t tell me that about the movie. Now I have to see it.

I like big malls but only occassionally.

For Christmas I want footie PJ’s from Target. Reminds me of my youth.

i LIVE for mall of america. but then again, I know that place like the back of my hand so I can skip what I dont want, get in and out in a flash (unless its the christmas season, then fighting the crowds proves to be a little bit crazier!)

Hope you have fun! Eat at the new crave while youre there :)
