1. Does your family have any Thanksgiving traditions? My mom makes the same thing every year. No variations.( I wish she did!) Dressing, dumplings, homemade rolls, cheese ball, turkey of course!

2. Are you in charge of bringing a dish this year, or just your appetite? yes we all divy up things. We are bringing a salad, mac n cheese, different dressing, chess pie, brownie bites, and 6 layer bars.

2. What’s the first thing your digging your fork into? SWEET POTATOES!

1. Nanny's sweet potato/pineapple casserole EVERY year!
2. I have done majority of the TDay meal cooking for the past 3 years with the exception of the bird, that is Mom's specialty! This year I'm doing the homemade hazelnut, sage and mushroom stuffing + the cranberry dish and she's taking over the potatoes.
3. The Whole Foods recipe for cranberry apple relish that my sister and I prepped today - it is SO good!

1. Just having the huge dinner with tons of family.
2. I always bring the ham/pickle orderves! (That way I can eat the "messy" pieces that "don't look good enough" for the final platter. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)
3. Shrimp!

Hey Kristin, I'm a former Iowa girl myself (now I live in Texas :) Anyway, I linked to your blog from a friend's. Here's a yogurt tip: in order to combat the sweetness of granola + yogurt, I often use plain yogurt. The slight (and pleasant!) sourness of the plain yogurt pairs really nicely with granola, and it's not too sweet. You might try using plain for your overnite oats, if you're looking for more ways to cut down on the sweetness :)

1. We always go to a movie later that afternoon.
2. I'm usually responsible for the green bean casserole & the sweet potatoes. I made the stuffing from scratch one year. That was a lot of work! No desire to do that again!
3. Oh, this is a hard one. Everything is always so good! It seems like I dig into the turkey first.

Have a great Thanksgiving, Kristin! Enjoy your 1st Thanksgiving w/ Baby Finn. :)

Nope not really! Everyone goes to a movie afterwards though.

Just me and whatever I choose to eat.

Most years mashed potatoes, but since I'm vegan that's out so it will be anew favorite! What an opportunity!

Aren't sweet potatoes and yams two different things? IF not I always call them sweet potatoes!

I say sweet potatoes. In other parts of the country a TRUE yam is different than a sweet potato. But here in the US sweet potatoes and yams are really the same thing, just a slightly different color.

1. As a kid, we would always go to the movies on Thanksgiving day to get out of the house while the adults cooked.

2. I making a pie and the sweet potatoes!!

3. Mmmm probably the turkey with grandberry sauce and gravy!!

It is totally a Sweet Potato. A yam is actually a different veggie.

I love yogurt and pumpkin butters so I could never get board of it.

1. Does your family have any Thanksgiving traditions?
Hunni and I are making new traditions of our own since we don't get to see family during Thanksgiving because of distance. But my family always watches the football game.

2. Are you in charge of bringing a dish this year, or just your appetite?
I'm cooking for Hunni and me so I am in charge of it all. But it will be easy.

2. What’s the first thing your digging your fork into?
I love stuffing so that is alway first. This year is the cranberry apple stuffing from TJ's again.
