Howdy!
This day has stretched on foreeeever (love that!) – I can’t believe it’s not even 4:00 yet! I got up at 8am and despite my best intentions to hit the gym…I watched shows on house flipping for 2 hours instead.
FYI I used to want to flip houses. I even bought books about it, see?
Yep, they’re tucked in there amongst my books about traveling the world, Japan and even starting a home based personal chef business – which I would still LOVE to do someday!
In between shows I made a pretty tasty breakfast: Scrambled Eggs & Toast. Very “Saturday,” no?
That’s two slices of 7-grain bread – one smeared with homemade raspberry preserves.
And a tasty scramble with 1 egg + 2 egg whites and a dash of hot sauce. Topped with a wee bit of cheese, natch!
Soul satisfying.
A little while later, Ben and I hit the mall. Mission: find new foundation was underway! I stopped at Sephora first, but after dealing with some less than helpful employees, I went next door to Bare Essentials. They had me at hello!
What makes bareMinerals so special?
“We use only the finest quality ingredients in our products to give you everything you want without anything your skin doesn’t need. Our proprietary bareMinerals formula represents the ideal mix of makeup and skincare; problem-solving cosmetics that perfect and pamper the complexion. It’s makeup so pure you can sleep in it.
And because that’s how we think, you’ll never find anything that’s not healthy, natural or good for you in our products. What’s not in bareMinerals is just as important as what’s in them. Less is more.”
The girl who I worked with was SO helpful and honestly after she made me up, I felt like I had no makeup on at all, yet the coverage is amazing!
I purchased the Starter Kit.
Which comes with everything you see here:
- Brush cleaner
- 3 different kinds of brushes
- 2 shades of bareMinerals foundation
- 1 bronzer/highlighter
- 1 finishing powder
All for $60!
Well worth it, I think! I’ll let you know how it performs when I have it on for a full day.
Ben and I are heading to an early dinner this evening, but while we were out we stopped at our faaavorite local deli – B&B – and picked up a Dad’s Killer Sandwich to share.
A Dad’s Killer consists of roast beef, turkey breast, smoked ham, corned beef, pepper cheese, Swiss cheese, American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, Kosher pickles and Tuscan Italian dressing on an Italian hoagie roll. Aka – it is to die for and is even more delicious than it looks. I could eat 15 of these!!!
I settled for 1/4. I don’t want to spoil my dainty appetite. (riiiight.)
omg looking at these pictures is making me want another one! Must move on!
Like I said, Ben and I are heading out to an early dinner here in about an hour. We’re not sure where to go though. We want to try something new, but there’s sooo many choices! Perhaps Urban Spoon can help us out?!
Decisions, decisions!
Have a great night everybody!

What’s the craziest career path you’ve ever considered?

Bare Minerals is great!
so happy that you got a new foundation! I thought about getting bare minerals, but it wasnt enough coverage for me, but its an AMAZING product and i hope it does wonders for you! i can’t wait to hear how you like it!
have a fun evening with the hubby!
Love Bare Essentials! Word to the wise, be careful with the bronzer, its very dark- I ended up sticking with my original bronzer from MAC when I switched over to BE.
I like Bare Escentuals but it’s really messy! I always make a huge mess over my sink.
Haha, my Mom and Dad are obsessed with the idea of flipping houses! They watch those shows all the time.
I’ve heard so many great things about Bare Essentials!! I really need to test it out for myself. Makeup is just so expensive…eeeeek!!!
I NEED to check out Bare Mineals, I’ve heard so many good things.
I don’t wear makeup but if I did I know that those are great products and would probably use those. Flipping houses is cool, but the taxes at the end of the year can be tricky.
bareminerals truly is an AMAZING product, especially for problem skin like mine. I’m happy to see another convert!
I once considered living in China and teaching english even though I’m fluent in spanish and not chinese.
I’ve been wearing Bare Minerals for almost 2 years now and still love it!
That sandwich looks killer – I bet it tastes amazing!
I {{heart}} me some bare minerals. I have been using it for many years and can’t see life without it. It can get a little messy but you will get better the longer that you use it. Can’t wait to hear how much you love it!
I love Bare Minerals but be cautious, and really make sure that you tap it good on the cap- otherwise it can get a bit “heavy” on your face.
Just wondering- what do you think is your favorite travel book? I love to travel too and I want to get a good “all-around” book…any suggestions?
I like seeing what’s on other people’s bookshelves. Thanks for the peek!
I loved Bare Minerals when I first tried it a few years ago but then started breaking out really bad after I started using it. I wish I could still use it, I loved the way it looked on my skin!
Love Bare Minerals and these food pics!
WOWSERS!

Happy Sunday,
Katie
Hubby and I had bought books on house flipping too! We have a sandblasting and painting business now, but would really like to sell if we could figure out what else we would like to do! Good luck!
Enjoy!
I LOVE bare essentials. I use it everyday..its awesome!
Good make-up is worth the investment! And that sammy looks delish!
I’ve strongly considered going back to med school on several occasions. And then that time of the month rolls around when I have to pay the school loans I already HAVE…and I’m reminded of how awesome it is to be getting OUT of school loan debt and not DEEPER!
I LOVE Bare Minerals, I have been using it for over 2 years now and it’s great! I’m not a big fan of the brushes though (even though I still use them b/c I’m too cheap to go buy different ones). My only advice is to wash them weekly!
Hope you like it!
I love Bare Minerals, but just an FYI, whenever I’m wearing it and I sweat, my face will start itching. That’s my only issue with it, and it may just be me. I do love the even coverage and how it makes your face almost look dewy.
Yay! I’ve been using BE for about 5 years now. I do get itchy on occasion like Carrie said, but it’s only from the Mineral Veil. The coverage is amazing, love vegan foundation!
I almost became a financial analyst. I would love to work in a fancy bistro someday to improve my cooking. I also want to do bread baking because it would be zen like (even though I hate mornings) and sushi chef because I love sushi. Have you ever wanted to do be a real estate agent? You would rock that I think.
I had high hopes for Bare Minerals and bought the starter kit a few years ago, but it makes my skin itch like crazy. Just can’t do it! Switched to Mary Kay’s mineral powder foundation and haven’t looked back. Hope BM works better for you!
Craziest career path I ever considered? Maybe working on a cruise ship or as a flight attendant…which wouldn’t work well with a tendency toward motion sickness. ; )
I love B&B. I always get Dad’s Killer.
Bare Minerals is the best!! I used it all through high school and took it college with me. No complaints yet! And those sandwiches looked awesome
jealous!
I LOVE B&B!!! I get Zach’s Killer Italian. My favorite part about the store is all the shrinkwrapped sports items hanging from the ceilings.
)
Bare Minerals are great, and addicting. be careful, or they will take all your money! haha.
I’d love to try the cashew cookie Larabar!
Just left a Larabar tweet via @iowawinegirl!
I know this post is kind of old, but have you thought anymore about flipping houses? I too have read many books about flipping and love watching the shows. Even though I don’t have any actual experience in real estate. I definitly have the personality skills to get the job done, but unfortunatly not the courage to make that kind of investment.
