Today I pulled the classic Home Alone move (Lord I love that movie!) Approximately 30 minutes after I was supposed to wake up, I sat straight up and said, “I slept in!” Morning workout = no go. That’s ok though, I’m taking a half day today so I’ll work out right after I leave. I have another killer treadmill routine that I’m going to try out, so I’ll share it with you later this afternoon!
Breakfast is another on-the-go assortment. I miss oatmeal. I need to get back in the game!
Being out of the game with a Cashew Cookie Larabar isn’t so bad though.
Cashews and dates – that’s all she wrote!
Look at that little Honeybear on my Honeycrisp! It’s the little things.
All toghether now. The leaning tower of breakfast!
In other news, I got zero packing done last night
but, I got all my laundry done
so packing should be a breeze this afternoon. Where are we going you ask?
Denver, Colorado!
I have not been to Denver in yeeeeears, so if you have a “must see” spot, restaurant or neighboring town – let me know! Ben and I have ZERO plans. Usually, that would absolutely freak me out, but somehow, I’m ok!
Oh, you guys, Top Chef fans have got to check out this video from FunnyorDie.com. The girl’s impression of Gail is spot on!
Don’t forget, you have until 3:00 TODAY to enter to win one of two Food Should Taste Good chip packages! Nom, nom, nom.
Talk to you later!

Do you have travel plans for the Holidays or are you staying home?

Staying home! Everyone always travels to our home for the holidays.
This title made me laugh out loud because I have been DYING to watch Home Alone!! I need to watch it before Thursday.
We stay home for the holidays. Everyone is here.
You should for sure check out Estes Park and Winter Park while you’re in Colorado! I haven’t been there in the winter before, but I bet it’s amazing right now.
we travel…. family is all over the country!
If you like pancakes…Snooze and Toast are 2 GREAT breakfast spots in the Denver area! Choices for pancakes like carrot cake, peanut butter and jelly, turtle, and more. Their variations on eggs benedict are also yummy…both have a yummy veggie benedict.
In downtown Denver Larimer Square and the 16th Street Mall area are always great during the holidays. The Tattered Cover bookstore is great too.
Also, I know you seem to prefer Bud Light but the Coors factory in Golden gives free tours-and it is right by Red Rocks which is amazing! A must-see!
My family is all local so we don’t have to do any traveling-we even host Christmas dinner at our house-I can’t wait!
oh my gosh…I am so jealous!! I went to Denver for the first time last year and let me just tell you, if I could live anywhere else in the US, it would be there. Hands down! We drove up to Breckenridge for the day and it was just BREATHTAKING.
Not going anywhere but to mis padres (5 miles away).
I hope you have an awesome time on your trip!!
Staying in town for Christmas, however cruising to Mexico right after New Years!!
LOL! Everything IS better with bacon on it. Yum Yum Yum.
You are coming to the 5280??? I will email you some spots to check out, how long are you coming for?
If you run out of things to do in denver or just decide you want to do a little exploring; a little south of Denver is a town called Ft. Collins. Talk about atmosphere! A college town + 8 microbreweries (including one of the Budweiser plants) = a Very fun time!
Fort Collins is actually North of Denver. It takes about a hour to an hour and a half to get there from downtown Denver. I went to college there and recommend it to any beer lovers. Fort Collins is an awesome town!
Stop at Trios Enoteca (http://www.triosenoteca.com/). We went while visiting friends last winter, and are going to stop there again next month when we’re back.
You need to go downtown to the square in Denver, the Christmas lights are awesome! Are you planning on going to Estes or Rocky Mt. National Park? Skiing or snowboarding? A-basin is the cheapest and easiest, Breck is expensive but beautiful. My brother lives there and I head out there 2-3 times a year. So if you want more deets, shoot me an email!
Christmas in Denver will be awesome! Are you going to ski??
Every year I drive 16 hours from South Carolina to Missouri to spend Christmas with my sister.
Wishing you and your husband safe travels to Denver! I LOVE COLORADO!! I will be staying home and having family come to me
My mom is coming from Oklahoma and my sister from New York.
My husband and I live in CO and I second all the suggestions already posted!! The french toast at Toast is…huge! There’s really no way to describe it!!
I highly recommend the Tattered Cover bookstore. We have pretty good ethnic food in Denver, including a ton of Vietnamese restaurants with an amazing noodle soup called pho. If it’s nice enough (aka not snowing), I suggest driving out on I-70 towards the ski resorts and wandering through some of the cute mountain towns. Pretty much all of them have local breweries and fun little shops. If you like ice cream, there is an amazing totally homemade ice cream shop about 4 blocks from my house called Sweet Action–they even make baklava ice cream! If you want more suggestions, let me know!
I found your blog the other day and I am hooked.
All my family lives here (in Vegas) so I am staying here for the holidays.
Haven’t tried that flavor Larabar, looks tasty!
Weird! You’re going to be closer to me! I hope you have fun in Denver =)
I’m going to Sun Valley, ID for a couple days before Christmas to get some skiing in.
Hey Kristin. I live in Denver so I have a few suggestions for you. Gaetanos in the Highlands has bomb ass Italian. It was a meeting spot for the Denver mob back in the 20s and 30s and they still have a bullet proof front door. If you’re craving pizza check out Wazee’s Supper Club. Their Pacific Rim pie is amazing.
I totally did the “I slept in!” routine Wed. morning…I woke up 10 minutes before I usually leave to take my daughter to preschool. I loved my “evening self” since she had everything, including b-fast-to-go, ready, so we arrived on time…just barely. Now that I think about it, we WERE watching Home Alone on satellite the night before. Maybe that had something to do with it? LOL.
I live just north of Denver and it is by far one of my favorite cities! I just read through everyone’s suggestions and they’ve been exactly what I would tell you! The Coors tour is awesome, 16th Street and Larimer Square are a must (you can’t beat a walking mall with lovely Christmas lights), the Denver Art Museum is wonderful, the Zoo is great (Zoo Lights is currently going on there), the Denver Museum of Nature and Science always has great exhibits…and as for food: Zaidy’s is the best Jewish deli, Wynkoops has wonderful food and their own microbrews, Tomayo in Larimer Square is really good, and the Cherry Cricket has huge burgers and fries that can easily be split! Oh, and wandering around the Cherry Creek area is always fun. Enjoy your vaca!
Just wanted to let you know that Fort Collins is actually an hour north of Denver, not south! Def. head up into the mountains even if it is just for the scenic drive! In Denver, the Cherry Cricket is an excellent place for a burger and a beer! GREAT burgers, and some nice shopping around.
You definitely should hit up The Rio for tasty and potent Margaritas!!! Its downtown right near Larimer Square.

Have fun!
Are you planning on skiing during your trip?? What are you planning to do on christmas day?? I think that you should try to go downtown denver and look at all of the lights and if you have time there is a great outlet in silverthorne, which is about an 1hour away from denver
Satying home for the holidays!! My immediate family is here and my fiance’s WHOLE family is here!!
Hey that’s cool that your coming to Colorado. I love it here! For beautiful scenary go to Boulder, that is where alot of movies are filmed. If you want to see a somewhere pretty and famous go to red rocks, plus there is hikes. I know this week I’m going to breckinridge where there is great ski/snowboard, but were going snowmobiling.
Just catching up on blog reading after flying from Denver to Rochester all day yesterday… Have fun! Like everyone said, if the weather is ok, head up to see mountain scenery. Check the weather for the mountains cause even if it’s nice in Denver, it could get pretty hairy up on I-70! Larimer square and 16th Street area are good, Highland Square has some awesome gift stores too (The Perfect Petal) and good spots to eat. My blog is pretty much an infant but I talked about a few restaurants in Denver if you want to read about it
. If you have a specific type of cuisine in mind, I would be happy to offer a suggestion! If you want to try a lot of different beers with one stop, the Falling Rock Tap House (though I would not recommend eating there). Have fun!!
Hey i just had a alert from my antivirus when i opened your page do you happen to know why this occured? Could it possibly from your advertising or something? Thanks, really strange i pray it was harmless?
