The Hawkeyes did it!

Our boys pulled off a 24-14 victory against Georgia Tech, in the coldest Orange Bowl in history! Seeing as how they’re coming from the frozen tundra that is Iowa, I’m positive the guys thought it was practically balmy out there.
GO HAWKS – I can’t wait until next season!
The game didn’t end until after 10:30 (waaaay past my bedtime) so it was a wee bit difficult to get up today! I slept in a little, channeled some multi-grains,
and made a quick breakfast of MultiGrain Cheerios & Almond Butter Toast.
I seriously cannot get enough of these MGCs. I had them for last night’s snack too. (I must have it least one snack every night!)
Trader Joe’s almond butter smeared on warm, 100% whole wheat toast (cut on the diagonal) is such a feel good breakfast item, too. I feel like I’m feeding my body good things when I eat this bread!
I was kind of freaking out that there was no fresh fruit involved in breakfast, but I’m taking care of the produce department at lunch today…
with another Fruit & Nut Salad. This was so good on Monday, that I had to repeat the same combo today!
Mixed greens, pecans, dried apricots and carrots.
Crunchy, nutty & chewy sweet. Just how I like my salads – tons of flavors and textures. That Italian dressing + balsamic vinegar combo turned out to be pretty tasty too, so I brought that again today.
I also packed a Navel Orange which is sporting Dori from Finding Nemo. Love that movie! Love these oranges too. The bunch I picked up at the grocery store last weekend have been incredibly sweet and juicy. I think that’s why I hadn’t had an orange in so long. I remember eating a bunch a couple years ago that were dry and hard, which completely turned me off from eating them for a long time. Then: blech. Now: yum!
So can anyone fill me in on The Biggest Loser last night (no DVR in the IGE household!)? How’s our season looking? I read an article with Jillian yesterday in Ladies Home Journal mag – she is so great. Practical, honest, real. She was kind of intense last season with getting in contestant’s faces about their issues and then crying with them about it afterwards, which I think turned a lot of people off. But, I think she means well, and she’ll always be my favorite BL trainer. Remember Kim?!
Tonight my Mom and I are going to pick out some new makeup for her and grab dinner while we’re out too. Where to go, where to go…
Happy hump day!

What’s your spending “thing”? Clothes, going out to eat, collectibles, etc.?
Mine is so random – sunglasses. I have the narrowest face and need a size that’s in between children’s and adult sizes, so I’m obsessed with finding the perfect pair. I seriously have like 10 laying around!!

We watched it too! Hubby was really enjoying it.
When it comes to spending…I love spending on everything. But most of all – prob shoes.
Clothes! Or food… Really, I love anything that’s a good bargain
Unfortunately, I have too many spending “things”. Currently, it’s hats and headbands. Especially in this cold weather we’ve been having. But normally I lobe buying new dresses.
That seriously is my kind of breakfast! Comfort food at it’s finest!
The hawks played good game last night! You can watch BL on NBC.com! So no worries about missing it!
Do you ever find yourself getting more hungry on days you bring salads? I usully have a salad with dinner but HAVE to have some protein/bread with it to make me actually feel full. Or do you plan a snack with it as well that might curb those cravings? Just wondering…because that salad looks BOMB.
As much as I hate to admit it
Happy Hump day!
My thing is coats. I own waaaaay too many coats but I always find them at unbelievable deals at the end of the season and just can’t resist snatching them up!
I just saw the Biggest Loser for the first time yesterday. Why did I wait so long!? It’s a good show
My spending thing would have to be food…and anything with palm trees
I love spending money on clothes. I admit it.
And VACAY! I spend tons of money on eating out, the bar, etc when I’m traveling…I try not to miss out on an experience while on vacation b/c it costs too much!
SHOES! I can never have enough, it’s awful, but oh so wonderful! Purses too, and makeup. My biggest thing is lip balm and chapstick. I’m constantly buying new ones
Ah biggest loser was amazing!
i think this season is going to be amazing! Their first challenge was to bike a full marathon 26.2 miles! Intense if you ask me! But this season has some GREAT potential!
I love your fruit and nut salads, both are AMAZING add ins for what could be a boring salad sometimes! enjoy your day!
Biggest Loser was good, but perhaps one too many “twists” going on. I just wanted them to come in and workout and sweat. The contestants are very, very heavy – one guy over 500 pounds. But he also happens to be my fave at the moment. I think it will be a good season.
As far as spending goes, I find that I tend to spend a bit too much on food. I’m willing to spend whatever to get the food I want and I rarely look at prices – not good. I’m not very “thrifty” in the food department.
Congrats on the win!
I’m a spender… I spend most on clothes and vintage stuff
Since this is only my second season of BL, I’m not sure I’m the best person to ask. I’m still attached to last season’s contestants. They have the highest amount of people over 400 pounds this season though (one over 500!). There were some incredible losses during the first week too. You’re going to watch it on Hulu right? Haha! You need to… it’s intense.
I love spending money on books and movies. I’m a collector. Haha! Over the weekend I managed to squeeze all of them into my entertainment system… I thought that would NEVER happen.
Hey miss thang! How I’ve missed reading your blog! Just got back from a couple weeks away and it’s so nice to catch up on everyone’s holidays and such. Glad the hawkeyes won for you! My spending thing is probably bags. I am a fiend for thrift store/vintage bags.
I totally thought your toast was an optical illusion. It looked like a big section was cut out for that picture (the first one). Anyway, good looking breakfast!
Toast cut on the diagonal always looks so much more gourmet than normal toast – love it
My spending thing is socks (!), good food (I can’t afford much on a student budget, but quality food comes first!) and MAGAZINES! I spend SO much on magazines lol, I’m addicted! I used to spend too much on my horse though…rugs, brushes….now I’m very poor!
My spending “thing” is clothes! I always tell my hubby that I’d rather spend money on clothes than on groceries or going out to eat…cause at least then I’d be thin but cutely dressed.
My thing is toiletries, especially hair stuff. I love buying new shampoos, conditioners, leav-in conditioners, de-frizzers, hair masks, shine serums, …I could go on and on!
TBL isn’t impressing me yet. I was bored watching it.
Got to get my hands on some almond butter – I’ve eaten peanut butter and apple butter sammiches for about a week straight. Also introduced myself to Larabars, YUM! I love to spend money, and my ‘things’ come and go. Sometimes it’s clothes, sometimes it’s good food/eating out, sometimes it’s things for my house. Right now I’m definitely on a food kick!
I don’t know if you guys are buying expensive make up, but if you have a CVS pharmacy you should check it out. A lot of L’oreal and Revlon cosmetics are on sale 75 percent off at mine. I also used a coupon (you can print them off line) and got great deals.
Nail polish is my weakness . . . I have so many bottles. I just can’t resist! They’re so pretty I just want them all!
Way to go Hawkeyes! We watched a bit of it last night and I was thinking of you. My weakness…clothes and shoes.
My spending this is definitely clothes or going out to eat! Both of which I am cutting down on and I’ve placed myself on a budget! Ha!!
TBL looks pretty good so far!! I think there is at least 1 person over 500lbs so it should be interesting!
Mine is books. But when my money piles up I head straight for shoes!
I always am looking for new fitness stuff. I’m trying to save up for a BOSU soon. I love having stuff so that I can do workouts at home when we have tundra here.
my thing lately has been kitchen gadgets. who really needs a slap chop when they have a food processor? apparently me
I would have to say my “thing’ is clothes. I am an Old Navy addict ! I love that place, and everthing fits well on me , and is in my price range. [ I am really a Gap Girl at heart, but it is too expensive for me unless they are having a great sale!
]
Yummy lunch!! BL was great last night!
Those Cheerios are pretty banging. I like them better than the Honey Nut. I think they are actually sweeter.
I have to have a snack every night too. I really can’t tell you the last time I didn’t. It would be so tragic to skip out on this event.
Oh PS- I was totally thinking of you last night. GO HAWKS!
WAY TO GO, HAWKS!!
I am also in love with the TJs almond butter, and the apple cranberry butter!
My spending thing lately is shoes…decided life is too short for cheap shoes! Also, running/gym gear, and Bare Minerals makeup. Luckily my sister-in-law is a stylist and gets me the makeup with her 30% discount at the salon!
I spend far too much money on SHOES…and food, of course.
