You’re familiar with Murphy’s Law, right? The law which states that everything that can go wrong, will? Enter my Murphy’s Law morning!
I decided I needed a kick-butt, morning workout to get my day started today!
I was wide-eyed and bushy tailed when my alarm went off at 5am, looked out the window and bam. Ice storm!
Schools are canceled, 1/4-1/2 inch of ice is expected – the works. I decided, despite the weather, to continue on with the plan. I figured it’d be better to get on the roads before all the regular morning traffic hit, right?
Totally right! The roads were pretty bad, but traffic was light and I got to work (where my gym is at) in a decent amount of time. As I got out and was collecting my things…it happened…no get ready bag!! My flaming red, can’t-miss-it-if-you-tried, bag with all of my toiletries, cosmetics, etc. was still sitting at the bottom of the stairs. At home. Bum. Deal.
Back home I went to shower and get ready. Then I noticed the cough, and the sore throat. I think I’m getting sick! NUTS!
That, in a nutshell, has been my Murphy’s Law morning.
On the bright side, they say bad things always come in threes. Ice storm, forgetting my gym bag and getting sick pretty much covers it. It can only get better from here – right?!
Totally right, again, because Overnight Oats is on the breakfast menu.

That’s one container of AE Fat-Free Raspberry Cheesecake Yogurt,

Mixed with 1/4 old fashioned oats, and topped with 1 sliced banana and a sprinkling of sliced almonds.

This cheers me up immensely!!!

So does this Confetti Salad I packed for lunch – look at those colors!!!

In the mix:
- Mixed greens
- Raw chopped broccoli
- Steamed chopped broccoli
- Vine-ripened tomato
- Chopped carrots
- Dried apricots
- Dried cranberries
OMG!

Slathered in Annie’s Lite Raspberry Vinaigrette. TDF.

I seriously want to wallpaper my kitchen in these pictures! Perhaps in lickable wallpaper a la Willy Wonka?!
Well, sorry to unload my Murphy’s Law morning on you all. I need to think big picture – earthquake in Haiti – my problems are tiny – type things. Perspective is the name of the game!
Happy humpday!

Are you superstitious?

That confetti salad is gorgeous! I love the colors! I’m not really superstitious, besides the oldschool Catholic guilt I harbor.
That is so beautiful!! Gosh imagine the nutrients and vitamins..that should fight off your illness! EEk, an ice storm sounds scary :s rather you than me lol!!
Sorry your having such a bad morning, but you’re right it can only get better! So after watching Biggest Loser last night who are you cheering for? I live in Boston and last night they cut off the last half hour to show the election so I missed who got voted off!
Sorry about your morning
I’m not really superstitious but I think you’ll have a really good day soon!
Thumbs down to bad morning but thumbs up for good eats! It’ll get better and tomorrow’s a new day
Sorry about the morning, but the confetti salad looks AMAZING!
Wow, what a crazy morning. Sorry it was so rough. I hope your throat feels better! As for the salad…wow, that is gorgeous! I bet it’s yummy too!
The colors of your food today are so bright and cheery!
Sorry about the bum morning, K, that always blows – I’m sure things will turn around for you. Oh, and pick up some Emergen-C — the doctors don’t seem to agree, but I swear that stuff nips colds in the bud.
I’ve done that before – forgot my toiletries bag at home. I’ve also done the reverse and left my make-up bag at work.
I agree that it is important to keep everything in perspective – I can only imagine what it is like right now in Haiti!
Feel better – and get some Emergen-C – I think that really works.
I totally hate it when I get to work with my Gym Bag in hand and then realize that I forgot to pack my jogging bra or socks in it……=O
AMAZING LOOKING SALAD AS ALWAYS, looking computer screen as I type! =)
Sorry about the Murphy’s Law stuff today. I hate days like that!
Oh yikes – what a start to the day. It should be all clear now though. I try not to be supersitious about stuff like that, but if my day starts of badly, I tend to be wary from there on out of what’s to come – so maybe I am. But your confetti salads makes the world a brighter place for sure!
Grrrr….hate days like that! I agree, though, it can only go up from here. Feel better.
Oh don’t you just hate when that kind of thing happens? Especially, when all you want to do is workout! Ugh. Maybe you could keep a minimal emergency get ready pack in your car??
I’m not supersticious but I’ve definitely had my Murphy’s Law mornings. The worst was when I forgot to put my bra in my gym bag and didn’t realize it until after my workout when I was getting ready. I didn’t have time to run home or a jacket with me so needless to say I spent the whole day with my arms crossed over my chest looking angry! lol, not the best day..
LOL that picture so does remind me of the Willy Wonka lickable wallpaper!! haha. So funny
I’m superstitious in the fact that I ALWAYS knock on wood. If there’s no wood around – then my head! haha
I love mornings like that, and I’m heavy on the sarcasm. However that salad, geez, I’m hungry now because of you!
I’m superstitious in weird ways. When I have Murphy’s Law mornings, I take that as a reminder to slow down, think things through, and step back to see more clearly. I struggle with my Buddhism and letting things go, gets easier with time I hear.
I hate Murphy’s law
What a great looking pile of veggies!
I’m not superstitious but when I have plans something seems to go bad. Sometimes its worse then others but it’s enevitable.
I LOVE that Annies Dressing, I just tried it for the first time the other day, its almost gone already, is it just me or is there just not enough in the bottle!! Maybe I use too much! The salad looks so good and the pics are awesome, the colors rock!!! Hope you are doing better!
Your confetti salad looks amzing! I am not superstitious at all but my husband’s family has about a million things they are superstitious about!
Ugh I hate days like that!! I hope it just got better from that point forward!
Gorgous salad!
[...] everyone – unfortunately, I’ve succumbed to the sickness I felt coming on earlier this week. I’m in bed for the day, but will re-emerge later tonight. Hope your Friday is going [...]
