Bring On the Bikinis!

34

Hey guys! Another snowy Monday on the homefront. 8O It least nothing is sticking today since it’s actually semi tropical out there – 31 degrees – can you believe it! 8) Bring on those bikinis!

Bring on the bikinis x2 because I ran through an awesome treadmill sesh after work! I completed the 41 Minute Interval Workout, upped the speed a little by turning all the 6′s to 6.5′s and ended up at a little over 4.5 miles. I’ll tell you what – everyone else must have seen the bathing suit display at Target this weekend, because around 4:30, the gym got packed! Luckily, I had staked my claim on a treadmill because it was slim pickins’ after everything started to fill up!

Finally, bring on the bikinis x3, because Ben and I totally channeled summer with our dinner tonight. It was insane: BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers!

I seriously can’t even type straight right now because these were so good… juicy, cheesy and so reminiscent of summer!!

To some lean, 90/10 ground beef we added:

  • BBQ sauce
  • minced red onion
  • chopped bacon
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • S&P
  • dash of cumin
  • dash of hotsauce

Cook the burgers on a flat top skillet (we would have used the grill if it wasn’t buried in 18 inches of snow!) melt a slice of gooey cheese down over top when they’re cooked through and top with rich and tangy BBQ sauce. We like our burgers medium-rare, so just a couple of minutes on each side did the trick!

Served with crunchy dill pickle slices for snackin’

And tender roasted asparagus.

We were seriously blown away by the flavors in this meal. Still MMMMM’ing!!!

Get those grills out and try this burger, people – you’ll be instantly transported to the long days and fun nights of sumah-sumah-summahtime!

I’ve got a very important agenda tonight… savoring a rich a creamy Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich, and watching The Bachelor. Does it get any better than this?! Clearly, not.

Good night!

If you could grill up one thing right now, what would it be?

Isn’t it crazy how we think the low 30′s is warm this time of the year? Why do we live in the North? Haha.

I would have to say either a burger or salmon. Both of which I have been craving lately!

Right now, I’d say marinated tempeh. If I were having a meat craving, totally grass fed beef

I love when I get the desire to work out harder than planned. I think it evens out the days when I just am not feeling it, ya know?

Burgers + BBQ = PERFECTION! I can’t tell you how much I love eating my veggie burgers with BBQ sauce. I don’t think I could imagine eating them any other way.

So glad you had a great day Kristin! :)

BBQ! Oh my, I can’t wait to get back outside again. I think, if it has stopped snowing I’ll head out and scrape the driveway so I don’t have to do it in the morning. However, that’s not the outside I was thinking about.

bikini season has snuck up on me! i’m still working on that extra holiday “love” but the thought of warmth and sun is excellent inspiration! my favorite grilled food is grilled corn on the cob! it has such intense flavor

  27. Comment Callout

I’ve never had red meat…but I went to a Moroccan restaurant and had AMAZING grilled chicken, so some of that fresh off a grill would be nice! Or a whole load of veggies – can’t go wrong with them!

The gym was crazy last night! I got there around 6:30 for a spin class. Since I was early I was going to run a bit, I got the last treadmill! I also had to wait 10 minutes for a towel!

Burgers look great. I’ve been outside grilling all winter here in Iowa. Iowa beef ribeye steaks or Iowa pork. Always the best.

  30. Comment Callout

I love grilled veggies but I love grilled fruit even more. It is so yummy!

  31. Comment Callout

Those burgers look amazing! Though I would probably rather have BISON than BEEF, but that’s just me (and I can’t do that anyway because my husband foolishly bought beef from a friend of his so our freezer is packed with the stuff. Yuck!).

If I could grill up one thing … it would have to be FRUIT! Grilled fruit in the summer, topped with a little agave or a little vanilla ice cream. Yum. :-)
