3 Minute Chocolate Lovers Dessert

37

You know those times when replacing the decadent, dreamy dessert you really want, with a piece of fruit, just isn’t going to cut it? I’ve got the solution for you: Chocolate Covered Orange Slices!

DSC_0036

YES! 3 minutes is all is takes to whip up this naughty-yet-nice, incredibly satisfying treat. :) Start by peeling and separating one orange.

DSC_0012

Melt 2 Tablespoons milk chocolate chips (or dark chocolate!) in the microwave for 50 seconds, or until smooth & creamy, stirring every 10-12 seconds.

DSC_0014

Dip your orange slices in the melted chocolate and lay on a piece of wax paper.

DSC_0021

Place in the fridge to setup…

10 minutes later you’ve got yourself a mouth watering, guiltless, chocolate lovers dessert dream come true!

DSC_0040

Who doesn’t like chocolate and fruit? And who knew it was so easy to make your own chocolate covered fruit?! What a great way to get your chocolate fix, and still keep it relatively healthy. This whole thing clocked in at 200 calories! :D

DSC_0043

Spunky citrus and sweet milk chocolate – this was seriously the best 3 minutes I have spent in a long time, and will certainly be repeating in the future. FYI – this would make an awfully nice Valentine’s Day treat for your sweet! ;)

DSC_0037

After whipping up my new favorite dessert last night, I made a big bowl of Blueberry Overnight Oats for breakfast this morning.

DSC_0002

Told you I liked those sweet breakfasts! ;)

DSC_0010

In the mix:

  • Fat-free Blueberry Cheesecake yogurt
  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats (uncooked)
  • 1 banana
  • Sliced almonds

DSC_0008

Refrigerated overnight to chewy, creamy, sweet & crunchy perfection. Everytime I make a bowl of overnight oats, I just can’t get over how awesome they are!

DSC_0003

For lunch I’m taking some leftover Chili Verde, an Apple Pie Larabar and a Navel Orange.

DSC_0023

I made this batch of Chili Verde a little thick since it was going over our chili cheeseburgers, so I added a splash of chicken broth in my to-go container to make it a little more soupy/chili-y for lunch. FYI, I can’t for the life of me figure out why this chili won’t photograph green- cause it really is! :mrgreen:

DSC_0025

The Apple Pie flavor of Larabar was one of the first flavors I tried when I started eating these bars. It’s remained one of my absolute faves – you never forget your first love!

DSC_0028

6 ingredients to spicy, apple pie goodness. :)

DSC_0032

This is the last orange from the bag I bought at the store last weekend, and I kind of want to save it for another chocolate covered orange tonight! We’ll see if it makes it through the day. ;)

DSC_0033

For some reason the sky is positively PINK today, which reminds me, I picked out a Valentine’s Day dessert to make – Red Velvet Whoopie Pies!!! I am literally giddy in anticipation of making these! After whipping up a billion Pumpkin Spice Whoopie Pies earlier this year, I’m hopeful that this recipe will turn out just as fabulous. (Oh, don’t worry about this spoiling the surprise for Ben, he already found out what I was making. :( My bad for leaving the recipe up on the computer!!)

Tomorrow’s FRIDAY – have a great day!

~~~~~
What’s your favorite chocolate covered fruit?
Milk chocolate, white chocolate or dark chocolate?
After last night’s dessert – chocolate covered oranges are currently holding rank above all other chocolate covered fruits! My faaaavorite chocolate is white chocolate, followed closely by really good milk chocolate. I still can’t devlop a taste for the dark stuff!
    The orange slices look fantastic- I’ve never thought of dipping a citrus fruit in chocolate!
    I’ve been loving chocolate covered raisins as of lately
    I can never get my green chili or enchiladas to photograph green either, even with a flash or in sunlight! I don’t know what it is about tomatillos that won’t stay green on camera… maybe they’re channeling their inner tomatoes?
    Favorite chocolate covered fruit: dried apricots :)
    Dark chocolate on anything especially bananas and strawberries. Hecks, chocolate is good on anything!
    Chocolate covered strawberries are the best! I’d like to say that my favorite chocolate is dark since it’s the “healthiest”, but I love, love whilte chocolate!
    I am very strange….LOVE fruit and LOVE chocolate even more, but not a huge chocolate covered fruit fan! :-( I guess strawberries would be my fave, though.
    And I wish I could say dark chocolate since it’s the healthiest, but WHITE! Then milk, then the dark stuff. :-)
  8. Comment Callout
    I am so making chocolate covered orange slices tonight! I have always loved chocolate covered strawberries. Dark chocolate is my favorite! Followed by milk chocolate and then white chocolate. Not a huge fan of the white!
    I’d have to say bananas and strawberries are my fave dipped in chocolate. Which reminds me, I need to get out my fondue pot for this!
    Chocolate and orange are two of my favorite flavors together.
    For me the darker the better for chooclate. And I like the good swiss or belgian stuff.
    Ahh I’m all about the dark – the darker the better! 70% + hits the spot nicely, especially coffee flavour :P I find white a bit sickly :(
    Chocolate covered strawberries are always delish, they’re the only ones I’ve really ever had!
    Haha I hardly ever have overnight oats, but everytime I do, I’m reminded how fabulous they are! Then I just forget lol…must do them more! Have a good day :)
    Dark chocolate, then milk. Don’t care too much for white. I think strawberries are the only choco dipped fruit I’ve ever eaten, but I love any candy that is orange & choco! Dipped marshmallows would be yummy to!
  17. Comment Callout
    Those look delicious! And I really have to develop your knack for the overnight oats – I always think about them in the morning and just have regular oats!
    My favourite is white chocolate, followed by milk, but I almost always eat dark chocolate. I have some really yummy dark chocolate from Green and Blacks that I LOVE – it’s creamy and delicious.
    Now, what kind of dipped fruit? Hmm … I would have to say … banana! Or strawberries. Or raisins. Can a raisin be considered a fruit?
    Favorite choc covered fruit would be strawberries… amazingness. Seriously.
    I had overnight oats this morning too.. they are fantastic. And it never ceases to amaze me how very filling they are. But mine weren’t made with blueberry cheesecake yogurt…jealous!!
    Such a great idea to turn your chili into soup :)
    Just wanted to say I love your meal & snack ideas. Chocolate-covered oranges — brilliant! It’s so hard to find good strawberries this time of year. I also have to give those overnight oats a try. BTW – Where do you find the Larabars? At Hy-Vee?
    I am a big fan of dark chocolate, with regular chocolate coming in second place.
    I love chocolate-covered dried fruit, especially apricots. I also have always loved chocolate covered strawberries – who doesn’t?! Since I’m vegan, it’s usually dark chocolate for me, unless I can get my hands on some vegan milk chocolate. When I was younger I always hated dark chocolate, but now that I’m older it tastes good to me – weird how that works!
    What great idea for oranges! My go-to dessert lately has been cinnamon oranges, a morrocan dessert I read about on another blog. You peel an orange, slice it across the segments to make circles, spread them out on a plate or platter and sprinkle liberally with cinnamon. The sweeter the orange, the better, and if you are a cinnamon aficionado, the spicier-tasting vietnamese cinnamon from Penzeys is the best for this. I can pound down two oranges this way and be more than satisified.
    I’m new to your blog but had to comment on this post because those chocolate covered orange slices are A-MAZING! I’ve recently developed an allergy to strawberries and was really bummed about not eating them in any form – but especially covered in chocolate. I made these this afternoon after thinking about them for a few days and they did not disappoint! Mine were certainly not as pretty but they tasted darn good.
    Thanks!
