P90 No Thank You + Giveaway!

Well, Ben’s shipment of Girl Scout Cookies finally came in – look at the temptation I’m facing on a nightly basis! 8O

DSC_0001

My Mom and I were commiserating last night. My Dad is an elementary school teacher, and he comes home with 2 new boxes every day since all his little girls ask him to buy some. Sucker! ;)

The remedy to all these cookies? Working out. With the help of Women’s Health Mag! I printed out their Total Body Workout which combines 8 strength and core exercises into one circuit, and took it with me to the gym this morning. These exercises were challenging (they even incorporated the dreaded blue ball!) and my muscles were totally spent by the end!

DSC_0025

I wanted to follow it up with some good cardio work on the treadmill, but my legs were dead, so I ran for 15 minutes alternating between 2 minutes @ 6.5mph and 1 minute @ 4.0 mph. Good!

Oh my gosh, while I was doing my workout circuit in the exercise room, a couple of people were doing a P90X Workout on a portable DVD player. HO-LEE-COW. It was INTENSE! Both of the people are extremely fit and buff and they were dying! Have you ever done a P90X workout? I’m going to have to say, after seeing those two struggle so much, I have no desire left to try. It looked like torture!

Good thing breakfast wasn’t. :)  I brought a Raspberry Banana Protein Smoothie!

In the mix:

I just love smoothies for the mornings I work out. Like overnight oats, they’re super convenient. Make at night, grab in the morning, and go!

DSC_0008

Look at the beautiful color from the raspberries!

DSC_0015

This was fantastic. Sweet, creamy, and crunchy – yep, I like the crunch of raspberry seeds. ;)

Lunch includes some Italian Wedding Soup and an orange.

DSC_0030

I cannot sing the praises of this soup enough. The parmesan-egg mixture that gets whisked in at the end makes it so flavorful and gives the soup such a great texture. YUM!

DSC_0031

How cute is this orange?!

DSC_0034

Oh, I also packed a 100 calorie pack of popcorn. For those afternoon munchies!

No…don’t write off P90X yet! When I first tried it way back in the day when I first bought it, I thought it was HARD. Now, its just a “good workout.” I used to do full body weights every other day and I got sick of my routine. So I started doing P90X again. I like that the program has you training on specific part on different days. I really do like it.

And dang…that’s a whole lot of COOKIES! Yum :) Which is your fav?

And…I want some chia seeds! :)

Hi! I love your blog for 2 reasons 1) Great tips for good and healthy foods 2) You are an Iowa girl just like me (Cedar Rapids, IA) – except I moved away 6 months ago to Portland, OR.

I haven’t tried Chia Seeds yet, but I have really really been wanting to. And even if I don’t win your giveaway I will be trying some soon. :)

I was just about to order some chia seeds, but winning would save me about $25. :)

Also – I have to say that P90X is not as bad as it looks, I promise! I’m doing it now, currently in week 3 and it’s actually not that bad and is a really balanced program. Ironic that you posted this today, because I actually wrote a post this morning on P90X Exposed, and how I don’t think it’s as insane and balls to the wall that people think it to be. :)

P90X is intense! I did it for about a month. But what got me is that they are such long workouts. On the days you do abs and lift, it takes almost 1.5 hours to do a workout, and with my busy schedule, it was hard to find the time. He is a great instructor tho.

My new love is Jillian Micheals. She is the best, because she kicks your butt with interval training, but it is geared more towards women. Plus her workouts are to the point, 40 min workouts, that I can fit into my schedule.

You should try her other 40 minute DVDs, they are great, way harder then the 30 day shred.

You really have gotten me wondering about those chia seeds too. I want to try them!

I’ve heard about P90 and actually have a DVD for the yoga … I haven’t tried it yet, but I hear it’s intense. Personally, I think as long as you’re moving, that’s good. I don’t want to get crazy with my workouts because I’m striving to be the best I can be – not an insane person.

Love that smoothie! I’m sooo tempted to pick up some silken tofu to make it!

    K

PS – I love chia seeds. They do last a LONG time!
