I’d Like to Clear Things Up

40

Good morning!

I’m having one of those days where you sleep in and take your time getting ready – but somehow you’re still on running on time. How does it happen, I wonder? I can’t explain, but I like it. A lot. Especially if it means having time to go get a Starbucks before work! :D

Oh, about the new toffee flavor at Starby’s, I must be on something because it doesn’t exist – although they do have a new cherry mocha flavor. I actually don’t like chocolate and cherry. Come to think of it, I don’t really like coffee and fruit. So, this new flavor is, apparently, a no-go for me! I’ll stick with my skinny vanilla latte’s. ;)

Breakfast is packed to-go this morning and comes with some assembly instructions!

Take one container of Cheerios, dried cranberries and sliced almonds…

DSC_0010 (2)

(cannot get enough of this combo – best ever!)

DSC_0016 (2)

Slice in one banana (looking awfully ripe 8O ), pour on some almond milk and devour! Doesn’t get much more simple, or delish, than that.

Lunch is easier. ;) I couldn’t stop dreeeeeaming about that ham & apricot panini from last night, so I recreated it in cold form!

DSC_0008 (2)

That’s one thin bun, smeared with some apricot preserves, topped with a slice of cheddar cheese, and few slices of low-sodium deli ham. This sandwich is seriously TDF. The apricot preserves (which has chunks of dried apricots!) with the ham kind of mimics a glazed ham you might have at Easter or something. Scrumptious!

And a Pink Lady. Standard!

Alrighty, I’m off, my friends! Have a great hump day and don’t forget that you have until 3pm central today to enter the Chia Seed Giveaway! Three ways to win – oooo yeah! :D

ps my abs are sooooo sore from yesterday’s Total Body Workout! As much as I hate to admit it, it was the exercises with the blue ball that really made me WORK. Give it a try!

What’s one thing you’d like to clear up about your city, state or country?

Although we HEART our farmers here in Iowa – not all Iowans live on farms. Also we grow corn not potatoes (that’s Idaho!) ;)

mm the sandwich looks de-lish. I always make my panini’s on the george forman, so quick and easy. I’m Scottish so would like to clear up the myth that all scottish people have red hair and wear kilts all the time!

People living in South Carolina are not ditzy or uneducated! Well, of course, some people are. But most of us are not!!!

  4. Comment Callout

Well, you pretty much already mentioned the Iowa lies….I grew up here and never lived on a farm:)

  5. Comment Callout

How about that we’re all a-holes in Massachusetts? But as far as the driving goes, the stereotypes are all true!

Stupid Forbes magazine named my beloved Cleveland the “most miserable city” to live in….boo! We have an amazing food scene, great night life, museums and some of the best healthcare systems in the WORLD. And I dare you to find a state with better fall foliage!

  7. Comment Callout

Hmm…not all Essec girls are tarts, and not all Suffolk people are inbred farmers! I’m a mix of both counties, but I’m neither stereotype :)
love your lunch! Have a great day :D

I’d like to clear up that Colorado doesn’t get as much snow as people think, at least not in Denver. The big stuff is usually in the mountians. Down here, mostly sunny and dry with a few storms thrown in.

Just because I’m from the mountains of VA, I am not a hick!
    Thanks :)

I’d like to clear up that Chicago winters are NOT THAT BAD!!!! I’d take the bitter cold and some snow for 4 months over the feet and feet of snow out east any day!

Wow, what a genious idea to do the apricot preserves on a sandwhich. I must try that soon! Thanks for the idea.

I don’t really know what other states think of Ohio…maybe that it’s boring? To me it’s not, at all. I love the changing seasons, the kindness in most people I meet, I love that I appreciate and am in awe of the beauty of the mountains and the ocean because I don’t see them everyday. Truth, I love where I live. :) OH-IO.

I would like to add that Iowa is also not Ohio. It cracks me up the geography skills of some people.

I know some Missourians might disagree, but in my part of the state it’s pronounced Missour-ee, not Missour-uh!

British people do not all have bad teeth! I hate that we’re known for that. I have very nice teeth, thank you very much! Haha.

I would like to clear up that the movie Fargo was not filmed in Fargo (North Dakota). It was filmed in Northern Minnesota for the most part. I think the opening scene was shot outside of Fargo, but that’s it. And we all don’t sound like they do in the movie.

    Cheers! :)

    (P.S. Breakfast looks great!)

Atlanta is in the South, but that doesn’t mean that everyone is slow-moving and talks with a Southern accent. In fact, not that many people who live in Atlanta are even from Atlanta… most are transplants! (I’m from the Northeast)

That sandwich combo looks great in cold form as well!

I’m from California and I’d love to let everyone know that we do not talk like valley girls! haha

Grew up in Ohio but have lived in Iowa for the past 23 years….the confusion of the two states is funny to me! Love both states!! Ohio people do think all Iowans do is grow corn until they visit and see the natural beauty, absolutely the most friendly people you’ll ever meet and great outdoors trails! I was the same way though! Love Ohio for the northern part!Yeah Cleveland, Columbus (go buckeyes) -some really a GREAT cities! Love the southern part of Ohio with the rolling hills, maple trees, amish country and all the festivals:)

Although there are quite a few!

But it’s true we really are wimps when it comes to snow… even an inch of snow and schools are cancelled!

I would like to clear up that Canadians do NOT live in igloos, nor do we all take dogsleds to work. :-)

I’m from San Diego, California and I’d like to clear up that not only do we not all talk like valley girls, but we also are not all stuck up out here. Also, it does rain out here, it is not perfectly sunny 365 days a year.

I can’t wait to recreate that sandwich combo once Lent is over (I gave up meat)!!

I’m from Memphis and I would like to clear up the thought that everyone must be dumb if they have a southern accent! Just because we have a slow drawl doesn’t mean we are slow! Haha :)

Is Almond Milk good? Does it tast like Milk?

My hubby saw it in my Health magazine and started asking about it as he doesn’t like dairy of any kind but like to eat cereal so I told him I would ask around about it. =)

Hi, Kristin! I’ve just recently started reading your blog and enjoy it very much! I have many warm memories of Iowa, as my mom grew up there and my grandma still lives there. However, I noticed that a couple of your readers live in South Carolina, just as I do!:o)
Your receipes look wonderful! I’ve already tried some of them and plan to try more.
The reason I’m commenting is to tell you that my favorite warm drink at Starbuck is the Skinny Toffee Nut Latte. They have a Toffee Nut syrup that they can mix into any of their drinks. You can even get a Toffee Nut Frappuccino by ordering a Caffe’ Vanilla Frappuccino Light with a pump of Toffee Nut in it. So…next time you stop by your local Starbucks, I recommend that you try the Skinny Toffee Nut Latte! It’s awesome!!!:o)
