Good morning – and happy Monday!
I’m a wee bit tired this morning… Ben and I went to bed at our usual time, but around 10:15, just as we’re just drifting off into snoozeville, we hear this giant CRASH coming, unmistakably, from inside our house!! 
We bolted up, Ben grabbed our bedside bat (what, you don’t keep weapons by your bed?) I grabbed my cell, we flipped on the lights and crept out into the hallway… Only to find the baskets of laundry that I had precariously stacked on top of one another in the living room, had come crashing down. Oops. 
Needless to say, the adrenaline was pumping which didn’t make for the best sleeping conditions, and 5:30 came awfully quick! I’m glad I had breakfast pre-made: Banana Kiwi Overnight Oats. 
In the mix:
- 1 Fat-Free Vanilla Yogurt
- 1/4 cup old fashioned oats (uncooked – I just wrote “uncookied”)
- 1/2 Tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 kiwi
- 1 banana
- Almonds
As I was assembling this I thought to myself, hmmmm…bananas + kiwi? What, exactly, is this going to taste like? Then I remembered that all my life I’ve thought kiwis, especially the seeds and centers, have had a slight banana-y taste. Anyone else with me on that one?
Really refreshing and tropical, actually! Especially with vanilla yogurt. A serendipitous concoction for sure.
I’m packing a big Mixed Salad for lunch today. Told you those take-out containers were good for reusing!
In the mix:
- Mixed greens
- Pepper Jack cheese cubes
- Carrots
- Dried cranberries
- Peanuts
I bought a whole bunch of peanuts at the store this weekend so I can start topping away on my salads. Have you tried them in yours yet? And is it weird to be excited about cheese? Because this pepper jack variety is seriously the creamiest. It’s from Ben’s parents, so I’m not sure what brand it is!
Oh, I branched out and got some Jazz apples at the store. 
They looked really crunchy – the best kind of apple, imo!
So did anyone else watch the Oscars last night? I never rarely watch award shows, but Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin as hosts sounded like too funny of a duo not to tune in to. I was right – they were hysterical!! I didn’t watch the whole thing (Granny’s got to be in bed by 10!) but what I did see was actually really good.
Shall we talk dresses? Which ones were your favorites? I was loving the fashions on Miley Cyrus (although she needs to learn how to stand up straight), Matt Damon’s wife – Luciana Bozan, Sandra Bullock and Amanda Seyfried (my favorite actress!) Do you sense a theme here? Glittery, pale, long and flowy. I know what I like! 
Did anyone happen to catch Kathy Ireland co-hosting the ABC pre-show? Oh my gosh, train wreck! She was like a mannequin with the rods still in her body and could only ask about jewelry while saying ‘thank you! thank you! thank you!’ I thought she was going to implode. Miley Cyrus looked like she wanted to either start crying or run away screaming during her interview. Ohhh, gosh. I shouldn’t judge, I’d probably be the same way as a host!
Ok, time to get this show on the road. We’re expecting another rainy, drizzly day – but it least there’s no snow in the forecast. I call that, progress!

I hate it when things like that happen at night! but at least it was JUST laundry! ha. I remember one time long ago when something similar happened in the middle of the night. I woke up this huge crash and my dad came running out of my parents room with… a pillow. Yes, he was going to attack the possible intruder with a pillow. Haha.
I didn’t watch the Oscars but I have seen some of the dresses. I think that Miley looked gorgeous, but she does need to learn some posture. I assume she was probably just a little uncomfortable.

I was thinking the exact same thing about Kathy Ireland watching the red carpet show. My husband kept asking what she was doing with her arm!
ahh teh oscars…what can i say about the dresses…I thought JLo looked very silly in her dress…cameron diaz looked amazing, she always does though and demi moore look STUNNING! i dont get why some celebs go to the oscars though when they have NOTHING to do with the movies like nicole riche and her hubby? hmm anyways, its always fun to see the fashion!

I always thought that kiwi’s kinda tasted like another fruit, but I could never really put my finger on it and now I see…It is bananas! Although, I will say, as much as I like banana flavor I can’t stomach them as a fruit. I’m weird about textures and I can’t get over the way they are so mushy/almost grimy. BUT, your overnight oats do look delicious and beautiful!!
Pepper jack is the best cheese every! I missed the Osca’s last night but plan on ketting filled in via blogs

Oh my gosh your review of the pre-oscar show is so funny because those thoughts were exactly what I was thinking too! Kathy Irelenad…what the heck! And Miley WAS so slouching. I couldn’t figure out what was going on between Alec B and George Clooney.
I would like an Oscar dream date with Gary Sinise….or John Tesh. John is not really an actor, but boy is he ever handsome! Gotta love a man who tinkles the ivories! I take a lot of ribbing from my friends about my crushes on John Tesh and Bill Stowe! But seriously…Bill Stowe is HOT! Seeing him on tv is the very best part of winter!
Dream date has to be Lenny Kravitz. He always looks hella fine.
Also..had to laugh at your noise in the middle of the night! I had a tube of hair conditioner tumble off the edge of the tub into the tub in the middle of the night. Very strange sounding! I was up, half asleep, heart pounding, casing the house with my gun drawn! Had to laugh when I finally figured out what the noise was! Ha! And no, I did not shoot a hole in the tub! Ha! One can never be too careful!
mwahahahha I totally agree about kathy! and seriously, why on earth did SHE end up being one of the people to interview celebs? isn’t she a relic of the 80s? She looked good but was crazy-annoying, as was sherry shepard, who kept hitting on men and saying “thanks for talking to us.” Polite but scripted after a while.
also- george clooney needed to remove the stick out of his bum, like his g/f. haha ok that’s my two cents

Ha! I thought the EXACT same thing about Kathy Ireland! She was so rigid! Her right hand kept freaking out, not to mention the creepy way she would stare at the person at the end of the interview… weird. haha
