New Kicks + Melty Cheese + Do Not Forget!

I got some new kicks! :D

I’ve always had good luck with Nike’s, and after asking for some advice on Twitter, someone pointed me to the Nike Pegasus shoes.

They are so comfy! Super squishy, yet sturdy. The guy at the store told me they’ll hold up for a long time and are good for longer runs. Done and done. I can’t wait to take them for a spin run. :)

While we were shopping, Ben and I pondered what to have for dinner. We decided on something warm and cheesy. :D Turkey Apricot Melts it was!

I started with some fresh ciabatta rolls that I picked up from the deli section at the grocery store today. Two for $.99 – can’t beat it!

DSC_0001 (3)

To the rolls, I added low-sodium deli turkey,

and cheddar cheese.

The top of the buns were slathered with some apricot preserves – oh.yum!

DSC_0005 (3)

Onto a foil-lined baking sheet…

DSC_0007 (3)

and placed under the broiler until they reached crusty, melty perfection!

DSC_0015 (2)

Oh yeah, baby. :)

DSC_0020 (2)

What an easy and satisfying Saturday night dinner! The outsides of the rolls got nice and crunchy from the broiler, while the cheddar cheese oozed down over the insides. Un-be-liev-able!

The apricot jam was nice and sweet against the savory cheese and turkey.

On the side, for some crunch, some Kettle Cooked Sharp Cheddar Chips.

DSC_0008 (3)

Normally, we’re a Poore Brothers Parmesan Garlic (now “Border Canyon” – don’t get me started) kind of couple, but the store was out! :( It ended up being kind of a good thing though, because these were awesome! Soooooo crunchy and flavorful.

DSC_0010 (3)

Enjoyed with our feet up on the coffee table, college basketball playing in the background. :)

DSC_0039 (2)

Oh yeah, with a Sam’l Smith Organic Raspberry Ale!

DSC_0033 (2)

I haven’t had one of these since a happy hour I went to a loooooong time ago – I am dying to drink it! Do you like fruity beers?

DSC_0035 (2)

Tonight is a battle of NCAA conference tournaments vs The Hurt Locker. Guess who wants what? ;)

Don’t forget to set your clocks forward tonight! We lose an hour :( but it’ll be light out for so.much.longer. now – wheeee!!! I can’t wait!

Have a great night!

Do you drink alcohol? What’s your favorite drink?

I don’t drink alcohol all that much anymore – maybe twice a month?  But my favorite drinks are Lindemans Framboise and Mojitos. Mojito, mojito, mojito!

Those shoes are really cute, and they remind me that I really need to get some new shoes! And that dinner looks really good too!

I can’t drink alcohol legally. Even when I can, I don’t see myself drinking much–maybe a really good ale here or there. Especially if Kath’s husband were to brew it :-)

What a fun meal! I’m craving it now – YUM!!

  4. I actually just turned into a Nike fan with my Nike Vomeros! Used to be an Asics girl all the way but not anymore!! I mostly like to drink wine, but I do like an occasional beer, mostly wheat or fruity beers! I really enjoyed The Hurt Locker so I hope you win :)

  5. Jill 03.13.2010

My husband and I like to have drinks on the weekend. It’s great to relax after a hard work week. I like rum and diet.

I love the shoes by the way! My mizunos never seem to last long!

  6. Lindsay 03.13.2010

I don’t drink much anymore either, but I’m a beer girl through-and-through. Unless, of course, there are margharitas offered  LOVE a margharita in the summer, but they are just so, so bad on the calorie front!

  7. Stephanie 03.13.2010

Love fruity beers! Never had raspberry though?
We have a glass of wine (beer for the man) or 2 a few nights a week in this house (esp the weekend and if we go out with friends). It’s kind of just part of our lifestyle, in moderation now of course. I also just love sipping on some while I cook too! At least its many steps up from my college days, which were way more outta control haha!

    Have a great night :D

  8. Oh lord, those sandwiches are beautiful, girlie! As far as alcohol, I’m a red wine person all the way! I’m partial to some beers but I really can’t stand most liquors! Probably because of bad choices in my earlier college years when I thought vodka and orange juice was classy.

Have a great Saturday night! Thanks for the heads-up about clock changing, too!

  9. Andrea 03.13.2010

There’s a strawberry flavoured beer here in Canada called Fruli, not sure if you have it in the US but it is to die for!! Apparently its one of the lowest calorie beers out there (which isn’t saying much!) so you don’t feel as guilty. The bottles are very tiny but the pink tinted beer inside is delish :)

  10. I’m a beer girl for sure. Enjoy the hurt locker!

  11. BroccoliHut 03.13.2010

Air Pegasus are all I wear! You’ll love them!

  12. I never have luck with Nikes and have to stick to Asics. But I’m glad that you found a shoe that fits your style.

I haven’t had a sandwich for dinner in a while and that looks great. And I have all the ingredients!

I don’t drink anymore. I gave it up at 21 because I was joining my church and it was against membership rules. Now 7 years later I don’t miss it and enjoy eating my calories versus drinking them anyway.

Love the new sneaks!!!!!!!!! They rock!!!!!!!!

I heard Hurt Locker is amazing, my fiance and I want to watch that!!!! My fiance is watching NCAA Tournaments too : p

I dont drink too much but when I do I love a good glass of Merlot, and for celebrations or girls night out I love apple martinis!!!!!!

    Have a good night!!! xoxo

Right now all I can think about is the cheddar in my fridge!!! MMMMM!

  15. Rachael 03.13.2010

    That sandwhich looks really good!

I’ve never tried a fruity beer before but it sounds nice. I’m more of a fruity liquor drink kind of gal…cosmo’s are my weakness!

  16. Jennyj 03.13.2010

I’m lovin the pink on your new kicks!

When I drink, I have one or two nicer beers- I like blue moon, so long as it comes with an orange, or Sam Adams cherry flavored beer… What can I say, I love my fruit!:)

  17. You are definitely a girl after my own heart…the two drinks you listed are also two of my top favs! So yummy…Leinenkugal’s Berryweis is also a tasty treat in the summer time.

  18. Lo-Jo 03.13.2010

I’ve never been much of a drinker. I can maybe count the number of drinks I have per year on 1 hand? But I like frozen mixed drinks…margaritas and daquaris. The worst for you!

Nice shoes. I need new ones BADLY.

  19. Midgetkeeper 03.13.2010

I am a beer girl myself but I love margaritas as well. My favorite beer is the Harpoon UFO Raspberry Hefeweizen, yummy.

  20. Love your shoes!! They are super cute and sound fantastic!
Those sammies sound awesome! Love me some melty cheese :)
I don’t drink too often but when i do, I love white wine. I also like mixed drinks :) yum!

  21. OOH that beer looks amazing, like my favorite Lambic! The sandwich looks amazing too :)

  22. Kacie 03.14.2010

Cure shoes!! I tried a Jillian Michaels workout today… wow! Have a great weekend!

  23. Lovin the sound of that sandwich, yum!
I don’t drink alcohol – I HATE the taste! Sometimes I wish I did so I could do the whole kick back with a beer thing, but I just can’t stomach it :(
Haha, that clock thing confused me for a minute – I thought I’d missed something, but they don’t change over here for another week or so :)

  24. rachel 03.14.2010

I don’t drink because I hate the taste! It kind of put a damper on my social life in college, but at least I was sober :) Those sandwiches look amazing. I bet the apricot with the cheddar was delicious!

  25. Pretty new kicks! Hmmm…try white cheddar + raspberry jam sometime – bomb diggity!

    Martinis… margaritas… mojitos… today’s letter is M!
Love the shoes, my feet are too wide for most Nikes but I do like the Vomeros that someone mentioned above.

  28. Smith 03.15.2010

I bought the same pair of Nike’s a few weeks ago. I’ve always been an Asics girl, but since my shoes were reaching their max milage (and accidently got soaked while running on the beach during our honeymoon), I thought I’d shake things up with a different brand. My first long run in these was heaven! Enjoy! Great shoes!

  29. jen 03.15.2010

I need some new shoes, desperately.

    Love, love, love raspberry beers!

  30. shannon 03.16.2010

After I got over my early to mid-twenties I haven’t consumed very much alcohol. Maybe 1-2 drinks a month. I like an occasional glass of red wine, or a draft Woodchuck (it’s a beer that tastes just like apple cider), or a mango mojito that our favorite Thai restaurant makes… YUM! I’m preggo now though, so no alcohol for 7 more months.
