Yoga kicked my TAIL last night! After dinner I completed the class I downloaded last week, then tried a new, 20 minute abs/core class – Core Yoga #1. Umm, definitely missed the fact that it was an advanced/intermediate class with a vigorous intensity level, which would explain why I was dying around minute 11!
This class showed the poses in a series of still photos along with the audio, instead of in a downloadable pdf, which was nice but they were off the audio by about 6 seconds. It’ll be easier the next time I attempt it…which might be awhile considering the way my abbies feel today!
This morning I refueled with a Green Monster!
In the mix:
- 1/2 Tablespoon chia seeds
- 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
- 1 Tablespoon almond butter
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond breeze
- SPINACH!
- 1 frozen banana
Maybe you’re wondering why there’s two containers of Green Monster ingredients all ready to blend up? That’s because BEN had one with me this morning!
He’s requesting them these days, people!
He still won’t use almond butter, so he subbed in some Skippy peanut butter. Which reminds me, my parents used to call each other Skip and Skippy. HA!
We assembled our ingredients last night and blended this morning using the same directions as last time (the key is the two part blending!)
And pour. Thick, fluffy, pillowy, lush.
I’m getting even MORE greens in today with a Kitchen Sink Salad for lunch. (Basically it appears that I call every salad a kitchen sink salad these days.)
In the mix:
- Mixed greens
- Spinach
- Carrots
- Roasted brussels sprouts
- Roma tomato
- Cucumber
- Dried cranberries
Per usual, I put the lettuce and spinach in my container first, then zipped through them with a pizza cutter. It makes for perfect sized bites. I can’t wait to eat these cold roasted b-sprouts – they’re just the BEST!
I also packed a cold and crispy Fuiji Apple and a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Uh-huh!
Do you eat dessert-type stuff during the day, or do you prefer to leave it for the evenings?
Do you have any nicknames?
Clearly dessert is fair game no matter what time of day! Also, among many other names (all of which would take way too much time to explain!) Ben and I call each other “ninja”. I have no idea where it came from! Actually, I think Ben used to like ninjas, so that’s just what we started calling each other??
Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Holy veggies! I wish I liked them that much. I prefer to have dessert in the evenings. If I have it earlier, I really crave it all day. I like to have something sweet after lunch, but usually it is in the form of fruit or dried fruit.
I treat myself to dessert any time of the day – I often have a square of chocolate as soon as I wake up!!
My dad used to call me Moppy…I have NO idea why! Very embaressing :s
I’ve recently bought Chia Seeds after reading about all the goodness they provide around the blog world
Is the serving size of your chia seeds 1/2 TBS or did you just decide on that number? The pack I bought says a serving size is 2 TBS @ 70 calories a serving…that seems like a lot of calories + with them being on the expensive side it seems like a large serving. Also, have you completely given up flax for chia or use both?
I love dessert- I have a serious sweet tooth- and find myself looking for sweets throughout the day!
Must…have…..chocolate……each…….day
I pretty much have dessert only after dinner. Unless it’s a special occasion
My parents call me Lulu! Haha
I actually tried the Yoga for Weight Loss #1 last night too! It was my first yoga experience and I LOVED IT! I downloaded the video version, watched it once, and then set it up on my couch so that I could glance up if I was confused on where to go or what to do while I was going through. I’m feeling it in my arms and shoulders today!!
Thanks for the great recommendation!
I agree, the key to a good green monster is the 2 part blend!!
My mom used to call me Mouse, and my dad called me Marzipan
I usually have something sweet around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. My husband calls me jessycakes
Dessert ANYTIME of day is cool with me
I made a kitchen sink salad for my lunch today with last night’s dinner leftovers- I had leftover brown rice, baked chicken, and roasted green beans and I added them to my salad with shredded carrots, herb mix, and cucumbers.
YUM!
You inspired me to start doing this for lunches instead of the typical stuff!
Honestly, I don’t like desserts or sweets. I rarely crave them. But when I do its during the day.
My childhood nickname (and current nickname) is Scout. When I was 7 I got my haircut like Scout in “To Kill a Mockingbird” & my sisters, who were high school students, had just watched that movie in English class. It stuck & I still hear it just as much as Jenna. My niece & nephews even call me Scout!
I have never roasted brussel sprouts before. They look really good! My husband used to call me fancy face when we were dating. That was sweet, now that we have been married for 17 years, I get the occasional “the wife” when he talks to friends. I immediately punch him in the gut. Ha ha.
That salad looks like the BOMB!!! I love the sweet and savory flavors together, YUM! I never thought of putting cold roasted Brussels on a salad, have to try that!
And I like to save sweet things for the end of the day too!
I prefer eating dessert at night, although I know it’s probably better to eat it earlier in the day.
My husband and I call each other Bunny!
I tried the yoga class, but had a difficult time because I no longer own a map!
I eat dessert at night – every night. I have a huge sweet tooth and can’t go without my sweets. If I ate them during the day, though, they’d throw off my good eating. That’s just how I am.
No nicknames… my first name is Erin, and my last name is crazy German. So I’ve had several people work stuff out of my last name… My mom calls me “Did” since my brother couldn’t say his s’s when he was younger, for “sis.” My dad calls me that sometimes, and sometimes “Sis.” Rarely do I get called Erin when I visit home in Iowa!
Yum…Reeses! I do like to have sweet treats during the day and at night! That’s a good idea to prepare your Green Monster ingredients ahead of time.
My parents call each other dear. My husband calls me babe and if he is trying to be funny, princess.
My 3pm sweet tooth gets me EVERYday
My nickname is “Smell” which yes is strange, but Kelly-Smelly got shortened to “Smell” and just kind of stuck. At 18-20 not so cute, now I respond without thinking twice.
I have a ?
Is your green monster a bit sweet? If so is it the vanilla almond breeze that does it?
I made 1 spinach smoothie concoction once= not.good.
It’s sweet from the banana and vanilla whey protein powder (USVAB isn’t that sweet on its own.) If you want additional sweetness, you could try adding some flavored yogurt!
I really WANT to like Green Monsters, but I just can’t seem to. I tried your version first, and then thought that maybe I didn’t like it because of the PB (I don’t generally have “nutty” flavored smoothies). So, I tried a fruity version today with no PB but added blackberries, and neither my boyfriend or I could drink it!
The funny thing is that I love spinach in salads, etc., but I guess I just don’t like the flavor of it in smoothies. Too bad, because I thought it’d be a good way to use up the rest of my big bag!
I’m all for sweets when my body wants them. Sometimes I’ll have a piece of dark chocolate after lunch and then after dinner too. It’s a great meal finisher
I prefer desserty things at the end of the day.
As for nicknames…We are Hunni and HunniBunny most of the time
I love me some roasted brussels sprouts! Cold = wondrous. Oh and dessert is fair game any time of day!
All of my salads can be considered “kitchen sick” as well. I actually can’t order a salad out anymore because it’s just too pathetic compared to what I create at home. I guess I’ve become a salad snob!
Hope you have a great day girl!
Lots of people call me Mickey. I once joked that I like to slick my hair back and call myself Slickey Mickey. Now my friends call me Slickey. (Greaat.)
Oh and my grandfather has always called me Pee Wee. He use to shout “Cowgirl Up Pee Wee!” really loud while he coached me in horseback riding as a kid.
i’ve been known to eat chocolate after breakfast on occasion. sweets are good whenever!
If I have sweets they are usually in the evening. I’ve gotten my Husband hooked on Green Monsters too!
My born-name is Joan but everyone calls me Joanie. In college, I was quite the bean pole and my new friends called me Joan Bone. That later turned into just Bone, and then Boner. So when my dad would come to pick me up, my friends would all yell, “bye Boner!!” Quite an embarrassing nickname!!
I soo need a green monster today!
Your salad looks perfectly packed:)
Mmmmmmm – Soylent Green.
Hehe, love how organized your salad is–a pretty rainbow of veggies & fruits!
