The Battle Between Bed & Blogging

34

Hi-yo! How about an afternoon post? :mrgreen:

Last night we went out for happy hour to celebrate my co-workers last day which was a TON of fun, but was also very bittersweet. She is moving to Seattle for a fabulous new job, and while I’m very excited for her, I’m also sad! Love work friends, you know?! Good luck Brooke! :D

I never go out on “work nights”, if you will, so when it came down to sleeping for a few more minutes this morning, or getting up and blogging – well, you clearly know who won that battle…

I’m home for lunch right now and made a giant…say it with me…Kitchen Sink Salad!

DSC_0002

In the mix:

  • Spinach
  • Cucumber
  • Cauliflower
  • Carrots
  • Sliced almonds
  • Dried cranberries

DSC_0003

Ahhhh, just what I needed. :)

DSC_0004

Eaten with my giant fork, natch. JK! ;)

DSC_0006

I’m taking a creamy-cool Raspberry Yogurt back to work with me to snack on this afternoon…which I hope goes by in the blink of an eye!

DSC_0007

Tonight I’m craving some really good Chinese food. I’m thinking a trip to Wok in Motion may be in order… Chicken & Vegetables, anyone?

TGIF!!!! Have a grrrrrreat afternoon!!!

~~~~~
Cliché question (but I really want to know) what are you doing this weekend?
I’ve got some busy weekends coming up, so Ben and I are laying low. I got him a Rogue Dead Guy home brewing kit for our anniversary, so we might brew some beer up tonight – wheee!
    Tonight, we are traveling to Wisconsin to look at a camper we might buy. Tomorrow, my husband will be doing yard work, and I will be grading many essays and projects since midterms for my school district are due on Monday. EEEK!
    This weekend I am hoping to attempt to make a homemade guacamole recipe a friend gave us and also make some feta burgers! We will only make the burgers if we buy some charcoal, because our gas grill went up in flames last weekend and almost burned down our house!
    I’m trying to convince Hunni into a date night for tomorrow. We’ve been crazy busy with work and family so I need a night with just us. I’m thinking dinner out and a movie at home are in order.
    Omg, that picture of the salad and fork made me laugh!!! You are funny!
    I am doing a lay low kind of weekend as well. Hanging with my daughter, might take her to the driving range. She’s been golfing since she was 4 and she and I need to get out there and hit a bucket or two. (she is now 11 next month)!!!
    I will be baking some muffins or banana brownies with Mini Choc Chips to put in her lunches.
    I hope for a long, happy weekend… and wish you one as well!
    Nothing much really. I will be doing laundry, working out and working at the part time gig. Pretty lame stuff but my calendar for spring and summer is quickly booking so the time off now will be nice.
    Brewing beer is a slippery slope, but one that’s fun to slide down. I’ve been doing it for a year, and my best advice is make sure your equipment and bottles are cleaned and disinfected thoroughly with bleach water and rinsed well before you brew. And if you’re using a malt extract in a can, heat that on the stove in a pot of water to make it pour more readily. And let the stuff ferment in a cool place and store the bottles for a month before drinking, they definitely get better! Have fun!
    It’s Picnic Day weekend here in Davis, California! UC Davis holds Picnic Day the third Saturday in April. It’s like our “Open House” and is believed to be the largest student-run event in the country! Alumni, current students, and whoever else all come to town for parades, cool demos, Battle of the Bands, dog races, cow milking contests, and anything else to show off UC Davi history and achievements. Aaaand LOTS of partying and early-morning drinking :) It’s a great day for everyone! Tonight is also my little sister’s 21st birthday. Have a great weekend :)
    This weekend I’ll be spending as much time as possible outside…running, riding my bike and maybe even taking the man to sit ouside on the patio of a local winery. Also hanging out with my Big Brothers Big Sisters youth on Sat. And maybe some yardwork will happen in the midst of it all. Have a fun one!
    I live in Seattle! Your friend is (hopefully) going to love it! Tomorrow my husband and I are going to participate in an Earth Day clean up of the Duwamish River- which should be interesting since I’m 7 months pregnant! I don’t care though. I’ll dig up weeds and throw mulch around! But first we are going to have the most awesome breakfast at my favorite breakfast place. I smile thinking about it now. Then on Sunday we are going on a hike (a slow one). Have fun!
    I’m afraid I may still be a bit wiped out & recovering from a rip-roaring cold. Boo. If I’m up to it, probably visit my BFF & her hubby who are camping, and maybe stop at the local tavern for a cocktail or two. Maybe that will chase the germs out of my body! Nothing too terribly exciting.
    My husband is the same way about going out during the week. He is adjusting to a slightly later work schedule since his transfer and it makes it hard to go out and about before the 3-yr old needs to be in bed for the night.
    On Saturday, I will be checking out the Food Network lineup in the morning–if it’s not very good, then heading out to the mall to pick up a new flat iron for me hair in the morning. Then my parents are coming in the afternoon to bring us a chair and check out the new digs. They are taking my kiddo to the park so I can get some freelance done. When hubs gets off, we’re going out to dinner with the parents. Sunday, I’m not quite sure what we’re doing–my sister might give me a “downtown dsm driving mini-lesson” of where all the one-ways are and the best parking garages, LOL. My in-laws may or may not come–if they don’t, we’ll probably do the mall stuff that day.
    Anderson Erickson, more Iowa flashbacks!
    This weekend… today we’re going to a cute little village nearby to have some coffee, and discuss some of our final wedding plans… running some errands, doing some shopping… tomorrow is the farmers market… and next weekend I’m flying home to Council Bluffs! So I’ve been prepping for that nearly every day now.
    Since it’s lovely outside today, I think we’re going to do our weekly grocery trip, prepare a picnic dinner and take ourselves to Como Park for a fabulous evening of sun and grilling (no backyard (or grill of our own) means we utilize the public parks a lot in the spring/summer). Maybe we’ll throw some tennis in there, too! Then tomorrow my brother in-law has his last college choir concert, so we’re headed down to St. Olaf for that and dinner beforehand with the in-laws. Hope your weather is just as beautiful!
