The Picture of Health

20

Welcome to the weekend!

Ben and his buddies kicked if off right by brewing, and drinking, beer all afternoon! I walked in the door to find my man in action, stirring his giant pot of homemade brew.

Our whole house smells like toasted barley – really similar to the brewing room at the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado, actually!

While the boys brewed, I chowed. Thanks to a light lunch and working up a sweat tending to my garden after work, I was famished! I ended up ordering from Wok in Motion but this time I strayed from my usual, Chicken & Vegetables, and got Kung Pao Chicken!

I just love Wok in Motion – they use giant hunks of all white meat chicken, really fresh vegetables and sauces that are never oily or greasy. To be honest, the people that work there are really unfriendly, but we can’t stop going back because their food is so delish!

Ben usually gets the Kung Pao and I jealously nibble off his plate, so this time I decided to get an entire order myself. I’m glad I did! It was just slightly spicy with a savory, garlicky sauce. And those peanuts! They just add so much, in my opinion!

Polished off with a Coke Zero and a Red Velvet Cupcake. The picture of health. Yoooooou’re lookin’ at her. ;)

Oh I also had a fortune cookie, obvi.

“The only people who never fail are those who never try.” That’s good advice!

After the boys clean up their brewing station (it’s giving me high levels of anxiety to be honest with you – the type A in me is semi freaking out over the mess) I think Ben and I are going to go over to his parent’s house. His little brother is home from college for the weekend, so we’re going to haaaaang.

Have a great night! :D

What are your Friday night dinners usually like? Take out, delivery, made at home?

I usually plan meals four nights a week, so I like to let someone else do the cooking for me on Fridays!

I like something warm and cozy on a friday night. This time, it was roasted veggies and maple baked tofu

I want to go sit and have some sushi and saki! But I probably will go home and have ice tea and grilled chicken!

I like to eat out on Monday because the beginning of the week is harder to take than then ending… it makes it semi tolerable.

I haven’t had Chinese Take out in ages! We are so use to getting Thai or Sushi that I think we’ve completely phased out Chinese. Funny, because a few years ago, I feel like Chinese was all there was.

    Have a wonderful weekend girl!

We usually cook at home on a Friday and then eat out on a Saturday night. I plan meals Monday through Friday and I “try” to stick to it :-)

However I would love to eat some kung pao chicken tonight. I do admit to going back to places with great food even with bad service if the food is just that good. Sometimes good food is worth it :-)

I usually keep it pretty easy and relaxed on Friday too ;-)

My hubby makes pizza EVERY Friday night! As much as I love pizza, I can’t take it that often… so I usually end up with Chinese take out too. I’m not much of a fan of Wok in Motion, I usually get Cafe Su or Tsing Tsao…YUMMY!
Tonight I am actually going to enjoy pizza with my hubby…bbq chicken (my fav)!!!

Every other Friday night I want to treat the kiddos with going out somewhere since they are doing such a good job enduring our *healthy* cooking. Since we gave up fast food for our New Year’s Resolution for 2010 it’s been tough finding places that I want to eat that they will eat too. Fortunately, we live fairly close to Jason’s Deli which is perrrrfect for evenings like tonight. I can still eat fresh and organic and so can they but they hardly even know it! I seriously heart that place. I used to eat chinese once a week. Now it’s either Thai or Sushi or Vietnamese that I usually crave. For some reason my fave part of Chinese are the appetizers. Yummo!

Beer brewing made me anxious too, lots of sugar cleaned off the floor tonight and sticky beer, ugh.

We order out about once a week, sometimes not at all. Just depends.

I still cook as normal on Friday – I don’t ever eat takeaways..but that’s cos the ones near me are JUNK! Greasy and cheap :(
But I do like the odd Coke Zero…it’s my dirty habit :P

My husband is Air Force and is gone a lot so we don’t have any set plans, but he was in town this week so I called in an order at the best sushi place on Okinawa and we feasted at home as we watched Survivor (we get it a day late over here). It was a great night. :)
The mess would make me stressed out too. ;)

I saw this blog post on “Snacking Tofu” and thought you might like it: http://tinyskillet.blogspot.com/. Still not sure if I’m ready to try tofu. My few experiences with it haven’t been good. But you almost have me convinced :)

Fridays I actually normally cook! I eat out a lot at the weekend so Friday night tends to be something quick before I go out!
Super looking forward to letting ‘someone else’ cook tonight!

My husband brews beer, too. He recently bought a turkey fryer so he could make beer outside. It’s faster and more energy efficient than using our stove, he can boil more beer faster, and the mess mostly stays outside the house! Especially when it’s warm out, it’s fun to brew outside. My husband’s next project is a clone of the Apricot Blonde ale I love from a tiny, local Colorado brewery. Yum!
