IGE: Weekend Warrior

Hello everyone!

Well I said I’d be laying low this weekend, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a TON of errands and chores to do! As I was laying in bed this morning, everything I wanted to accomplish was swirling around in my head, so I got up and made a list. My weekend warrior list!

DSC_0004

I am SUCH a list person. I need to visually see what I have to accomplish and then cheer as I cross each item off. Do you like lists? I’m doing pretty good on mine so far. Vacuuming/mopping: check. Laundry: check (still have to fold – rats!) Run: check.

I could gush for HOURS about how sweet my run was. The sky was cloudless, there was a perfect whisper of a cool breeze and I even got some wild life sightings in – rabbits, blue jays and cardinals! I took the 3.75 miles slow – it was actually more of a rog (run/jog). I’ve kind of been a slug about running the past couple of weeks, so I wanted to take this one easy. It was dynamite. :D

After I got home and showered up, I made the breakfast I dreamed up in my head while I was running – Apple Banana Oatmeal!

DSC_0007

Oh yes! In the mix:

  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 Tablespoon chia seeds
  • splash of vanilla, dash of cinnamon
  • 1 recipe stewed apple
  • sliced almonds
  • almond butter

What a list!

Microwave oats, water & banana for 2 minutes. Stir and microwave for another 1.5 minutes. Stir in chia seeds, vanilla & cinnamon. Top with stewed apples, almonds & almond butter – then devour!

Here’s how I make my stewed apples: Peel and chop one apple. Combine with 1/2 teaspoon agave nectar (or honey, or brown sugar), 1 Tablespoon water, dash of vanilla & cinnamon. Microwave for 1.5 minutes. Done!

Oh, creamy bowl of oatmeal – I love you so!!! This was a wonderfully sweet breakfast, which is just what I like. Do you prefer sweet or savory breakfasts?

DSC_0009

I debated on the almond butter, but decided it was clearly necessary to have with banana oatmeal. :D

Oof, I am stuffed! That was a BIG bowl of oatmeal – maybe the best tasting one I’ve had in months, too! ;)

If you read my list, you’ll notice that I have date night penciled in. I think we’re going to grill out for dinner, as it would be a crime not to in this perfectly charming weather, then head to a movie – Date Night. No, that’s the name of the movie – Date Night – with Steve Carell and Tina Fey. I LOVE THOSE TWO!

Hope your Saturday is sunny and productive too! Or, cloudy and lazy, if that’s what you prefer. ;)

See ya’!

What does your ideal Saturday look like?

I am not a list person. Too disorganized to keep track of my list!! Thank goodness I was born with a photographic memory ;)

I’m dying to see Date Night! My boyfriend lived in LA acting for a couple years and his first big role was in 40 Year Old Virgin so Steve Carrell has a special place in my/our heart(s). Cant wait to hear your opinion on it!!

I’m a huge list person. I make lists on paper and on my cell phone by texting myself if I don’t have paper so I don’t forget stuff.

My ideal weekend is hitting up my WW meeting, followed by a run and the farmers market. Then relaxing with Hunni and maybe a walk and then getting some errands run. Saturday is our only true day off and we don’t normally take it off either so a real day off would be wonderful.

You will love Date Night! I don’t want to build it up too much (always ruins the funny movies!) but it had me laughing. :D

Tell me the truth, have you ever put something on your to do list that you have already done? I have. Crossing things off just feels so good!

I used to be a crazy list person but it would drive me absolutely crazy if I didn’t finish everything on the list, so I stopped, if at least for my sanity!

Date Night is sooooo good!!! By far one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time.
Your bowl of oats looks awesome! That’s my favorite oats combo too :)

Let us know about the movie! I love Tina and Steve but together? It’s like two equally delicious foods that might taste weird together…anyways, have a great night!

I am a list person too! But I heard not to put more than 7 items on it for a day for some reason. I have been trying that and it seems to satisfy and not overwhelm!

Why, YES, I am guilty of putting something already done for the day if I made the list later! Check!

I love a sweet breakfast too – Anything with fresh bananas and berries!
