Mornin’!
My weekend warrior list has been 99% dominated – whee!
Yesterday, Ben and I ran all of our errands and I even managed to make time for a luxurious pedicure! The women who did mine rubbed my calves and feet for, no lie, 40 minutes throughout the pedi. It was life.changing and I almost fell asleep on several occasions…and actually would have if the woman next to me hadn’t been yakking on her cell phone at decibel level 1,000…
I usually choose hot pink/fuchsia for the summer, but seeing as how the weather is still a bit nippy, I opted for a deep, wine color. I love it and feel so sophisticated. It’s nice how a simple pedi can do that for a girl.
Ben and I even got our date night in, and saw Date Night the movie. Our verdict? Funny, but not as funny as it could have been. I know! We just felt like they didn’t "go there" – as in, they played it safe and didn’t take it the level of comedy that we all know Steve Carell and Tina Fey are capable of. Don’t get me wrong, there were definitely funny parts and one-liners, but we just thought it was o.k. It would be a good renter, in our opinion.
We ended up having my parents over for pizza and a couple beers, then hit the hay early. I was still tired from Thursday!
Ben and I went to church with his family this morning, to listen to his Dad sing in his quartet. It was SO great – semi barbershop quartet-esque. Loved it. Afterwards, we swung by Starby’s for a nice warm beverage to have with breakfast.
Banana and almond butter sandwich for her:
Luscious!!!
Cold pizza for him. Breakfast of champions, didn’t you know?
This afternoon Ben and I are walking down to his parent’s house for a little BBQ, then I will be crossing off the last thing on my list – gardening.
I have some hostas in my side yard, and when the leaves grow large enough to spill over into the lawn, Ben mows right over them (men). Therefore, in the hosta’s best interest, I’m donating them to my Mom! She has this fabulous hosta garden, and I know they’ll be taken care of there.
Have a fab afternoon!

What’s the last movie you saw? Would you recommend it?

Aaah thankyou for the review – I think I’ll rent it
I’ve seen two recently – Dear John – sad but not as good as I thought it’d be, and Remember Me – TEN TIMES better than I thought it would be, I LOVED IT! Well recommended
Bummer about Date Night!! The last movie I saw was The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and I recommend it!
Last movie we watched was on dvd, The Slammin’ Salmon. Not as funny as it should’ve been (considering their last few efforts).
anyway, sounds like a gorgeous weekend!
I love the difference between yours and your husband’s eats! And it’s a great pedi! I’m getting one Wednesday and I can’t wait!
Shame that “Date Night” wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I hate when your expectations are really high for a movie and then it just doesn’t meet them. Oh well, it still sounded like a fantastic date night with your man.
Have fun today!
Did you ever see ‘Dan In Real Life’? That’s a great Steve Carell movie!! I’ll probably wait to rent Date Night. Have a great day!
Bummer about Date Night. I’ll add it to my Net Flix cue.
I saw Dear John and would recommend renting it only. I just didn’t seem to click. I kept waiting for it to get better.
Thanks for the review- I have been looking forward to seeing it but it will be months before it hits my little town anyway. I saw a couple of films on a trip to Glasgow last week- Clash of the Titans in 3D (pretty good not worth the extra to see it in 3D though) and Remember Me (pretty annoying and I will never watch it again). I’m glad you dominated that To-Do list, Sunday night satisfaction awaits!
I haven’t been to a movie in quite a while…I think the last one I saw in theaters was “Dear John” it was cute but probably a renter as well. I’m sad Date Night wasn’t awesome, I wanted to see it and expected it would have been great. But it sounds like you had a great night either way.
Good luck with the gardening!!
What’s the last movie you saw? Would you recommend it?
I decided to go through the DVDs at the local library in order. So I started with Adaptation. It was good. I would recommend it, especially if you can check it out for free from the library.
We just rented Sherlock Holmes last night – that was a good movie!
I would love to go get a pedi today…but yard work is calling my name!
I went and saw Date Night with my husband too, and we thought the same thing. I mean with Kristin Wigg, Mila Kunis and James Franco how could it not be funny!? I hated that they were only in it for about 5 minutes each.
I always take some time off from movies post-Oscar season but I still need to see How to Train Your Dragon! I’m determined. Now to find some poor soul to go with me…
Anyway, the last movie I watched was called “Sin Nombre”. It’s about a Mexican gang and a Honduras girl trying to reach America. Beautiful cinematography, compelling and moving story line, and a great film overall. Won Sundance I think in 2009. I recommend it if you get a chance (Netflix?)
We finally watched the Blindside on Friday night – very good!
Hate to say it, but I’m kinda relieved that you weren’t raving about Date Night… We decided to skip the movie and grocery shop instead, and I don’t feel as bad about it now!
FINALLY saw “The Blind Side” on dvd — and of course, I would recommend this movie!! I personally love any ‘true to life’ movie or the based on a true story types… I’m the anti-scifi girl.
I want to see that movie! Hopefully it is worth it!
Your pedi turned out so good. I almost always go for this color… my fav…
Thanks for the review, I will rent the DVD …
I love your banana and almond butter sandwich. I definitely need to give that a try! I love Steve Carell, but I always think he is at his best on The Office. Michael Scott is hilarious!
We watched Ghost Town recently and it was funny! I love Ricky Gervais so anything is great with him in it.
[...] happen over the weekend that you’re just dying to share? Let’s hear it! I saw a movie, got a pedicure and cleaned up my garden. Pretty exciting stuff, [...]
Last movie I saw in the theater was Avatar—good, worth seeing on the big screen for the special effects, but not exactly life-changing.
But this weekend, I finally got around to seeing Julie and Julia, and I think that’s going to become one of my long-term favorites. I’d read Julie Powell’s book, but now I need to add My Life in France to my library queue. I especially liked the way the movie was willing to touch on the fact that Paul and Julia Child were struggling with infertility (as are my husband and I). The scene in which Julia gets a letter from her sister informing her that she’s pregnant, and Julia leans against Paul and says “I’m so happy!” through her sobs … that, right there, spoke volumes. Although I’m no Julia (!), I’ve been finding myself cooking and baking more (risky for someone trying to maintain a ~140-pound weight loss!) as a way to create even as I struggle to create life.
And a bit off-topic, but IGE, I know you’re into interesting sandwich combos, so I thought you might be intrigued by the one I came up with this weekend: Wheat bread (I usually go with Healthy Choice 7-Grain), cracked pepper turkey, havarti cheese, cherry jam, and a few spinach leaves. YUM.
That shirt looks stupid
thanks for all the info. I able to bookmark this link for next time.
