Celebrity Sighting!

Last night, as the cold rain continued to fall, Ben and I got a craving for a hot cup o’ joe, so we headed to our nearest Starbucks for a steamy drink. We were walking out when this guy and a girl walk in. The guy is normal looking enough, but this girl is decked out in full hair and makeup. We’re talking glitter, hair extensions, teeny-tiny outfit – the works. Obviously this girl had something more going on then just getting coffee.

All of the sudden Ben starts freaking out. He runs over to the girl and is all “I can’t believe it’s really you! What are you doing here? OMG!!!” On and on…and on and on. I nab the guy to ask him who she is. I’d never seen her in my life, but according to my husband’s actions – she was a big deal! He goes “She’s a member of the Pussycat Dolls!!”

Hmmm, what?! Cool!! But, what is a single member of the Pussycat Dolls doing at a Starbuck’s in the ‘burbs, on a Monday night? And, besides that, why is my husband going so freaking crazy? It was like she was his favorite celebrity in the entire world! How does he even know who the Pussycat Dolls are?! Just as I was about to tell him to stop hugging this girl and give it a rest, MY favorite actress in the world – Amanda Seyfreid – walked in the door. OMG!!!!!!!

Obviously, if you haven’t figured it out, this was alllll just a dream. HA!!! It’s true! I never remember my dreams, but for some reason I woke up laughing and the dream has remained so clear in my head. I guess 10 hours of sleep will do that for you. Oh yes, I went to bed at 8:00 last night, and didn’t wake up until 6:00 this morning. It was glooooorious! :D

Even more glorious, was the bowl of Blueberry-Banana Overnight Oats that were waiting for me in the fridge for breakfast!

DSC_0007 (2)

In the mix:

  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 Vanilla Fat-Free Yogurt
  • Splash of almond milk
  • 1/2 Tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 banana (1/2 smashed in to the oats, 1/2 sliced on top)
  • Bluuuuueberries!

DSC_0004 (2)

Someone asked me awhile ago, how my bananas don’t get brown overnight. The answer is, they do – these are pictures of the bowl before it goes into the fridge overnight! Truth be told, they aren’t that brown in the morning – and even if they have a little color on them, it doesn’t effect the taste one bit. Still creamy, cool and sweet!

I’m so excited for the insane amount of veggies I will be eating in today’s Vegetable Salad I brought for lunch!

DSC_0008

In the mix:

  • Mixed greens
  • Spinach
  • Cucumber
  • Broccoli
  • Carrots
  • Dried cranberries
  • Peanuts

DSC_0009

I keep a bottle of salad dressing at work so I can just splash it on as needed. I’ll be finishing up my Annie’s Lite Raspberry Vinaigrette today, and will get to try some of my new Trader Joe’s dressings next time!

DSC_0010

Here’s a litte tip – chop once, enjoy twice. I actually made two of these salads last night, since it’s easier to cut up twice the amount of veggies at once, then haul everything back out in a couple days to make another salad.

DSC_0011

I also packed a serving of Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels.

DSC_0012

Ugh, these are so good!!

DSC_0013

I actually don’t love regular pretzels – but flavored with peanut butter, cheese, or those butter-flavored pretzels?? I’m all over those!

DSC_0014

Today, God willing, it’s supposed to remain sunny, but a little cool. I am DYING to go for a run and dive into some more yoga sessions! I’ve tried, I think, 5 different classes, and they’ve all left me with a new (good) feeling of soreness afterwards. I love that yoga works muscles that my normal workouts don’t! :mrgreen:

See ya’!

~~~~~
Do you dream very often? How crazy do they get? Do you remember them afterwards?
Like I said – I NEVER remember my dreams, so I don’t even know if they’re crazy or not. ;) Ben, on the other hand, has the most insane dreams and can tell you every single detail about them. I’m a little jealous of that, actually!
  1. HAHAHAHA thanks for the laugh this morning – love it!
    amazing looking salad – so colorful!
  2. HAHA I can relate to like, every moment in that video :P
    I never remember my dreams either :( I think I’m sleeping too deeply to!
    And danr you! You totally had me with that dream recap, up til you actually said ‘it was a dream’…!! GAH!
  3. Haha-totally did not get that it was a dream at first, you remembered so many details!
  4. I just commented and it didn’t show…? Weird….!?
  5. Sometimes I really remember my dreams very vividly! But the majority of the time, I don’t remember them at all. Occasionally, I will think I’m remembering something that really happened, then remember that is was a dream – that’s odd!
  6. most of the time i remember my dreams, but the weird part is that no one in them has faces! i know who they are, but its a known fact that no one has a face. dreams are so strange!
  7. Jenny says:
    I have some crazy dreams- and just like pollen they are seriously helped by alcohol!
  8. nic says:
    You definitely had me for a few minutes!!!
    Woah what a dream!! I often remember what I dreamed, but most of the time it’s nothing spectacular, just kinda like ‘everyday stuff’! I process a lot in my sleep, so often my ‘problems’ follow me into the night!! Grr… But there are nice ones too, thank God!!
    About your ‘chop once, enjoy twice’ – I actually do that too!! But I even prepare THREE meals on sunday (for the first three days of the week, since on Thursday we eat out and on Friday I normally get soup!) and lately I was in a really big veggi ‘rut’ – I just chopped up cauliflower, zucchini and carrots and had different toppings (craisins, almonds, cheese)!! And I totally got the topping ideas FROM YOU!!! So thanks!!! Craisins in ‘salads’ are just awesome!!! Oups… Sorry for the long comment!!
    Have a great day!!! N.
  9. Jenna says:
    You totally had me for a minute there! I was wondering what all of these famous people were doing in Iowa on a Monday night! haha. I very, very rarely remember my dreams, sometimes I don’t think I dream. :)
  10. Matt says:
    Its weird, when I have a crazy dream I don’t remember it. But when my dream is stupid, I do. Lol.
  11. hahaha… you had me going with that story. I definitely thought it was real and I was like hmm maybe they’re shooting a video in Iowa?? I have the craziest dreams ever and always remember them when I wake up. If I don’t write it down or tell someone about it ASAP though I totally forget.
  12. LindsayH says:
    A few weeks ago my yoga instructor reminded us about free yoga at Gray’s Lake all summer. It’s every Saturday morning starting in June, from 9-10. Last year I went a couple of times and it was fun! There were a lot of people there.
  13. a says:
    Love your big salad. I am a big fan of broccoli in simple salads. It just makes it more filling imo.
    I dream A LOT! I always have. Usually crazy dreams that I’m not sure I ‘d repeat in public. Nothing gross, but probably could offend some people LOL
  14. Stormy says:
    Don’t you LOVE yogadownload.com?!? I think I’ve done four different classes, a few of them multiple times, and I love it! Thanks for giving this a girl’s workout routine a kick in the pants!
  15. Daisy says:
    I hade no idea it was a dream until you said it. I was so confused / am so gullible. funny dream though, thanks for sharing
  16. Wendy says:
    You totally had me fooled! I have some really crazy dreams that I do remember in the morning. The memory usually fades away after 30 minutes or so, unless it’s really a really crazy or weird dream.
    I am addicted to yogadownload’s classes!
  17. Anna says:
    I usually remember my dreams pretty well and I have celebrity ones too. I was speechless when I met Will Ferrell in one recently, so we just made out instead! LOL
    Try squeezing a little lemon juice on your bananas to keep them from going brown!
  18. OMG! I totally believe you! Ha!I would have died if you really had seen Amanda Seyfreid . I got SO starstruck! And I do remember my dreams all the time. It’s freaky how real they are! Sometimes in my dream I am telling myself – “don’t worry, you are just dreaming right now!”
  19. AmyLou says:
    For a second, I was all excited, thinking I could spot some celebs here, too! LOL. But then I realized it’d totally make the local news if they all were really in town for something or other, LOL! :) Ashton Kutcher, who is from Cedar Rapids, was spotted at a couple bars in Iowa City several *years* ago when he was home and I attended U of I at the time–I was sad I didn’t see him! ;)
  20. Teresa says:
    That was funny, totally believed it for a second. I met Paul Brandt at a wedding once. I asked him if he would mind getting his picture taken with my daughter cause she just looooooooooved him back then. He was very nice about it.
  21. Christopher says:
    For a second, I was all excited, thinking I could spot some celebs here, too! LOL. But then I realized it’d totally make the local news if they all were really in town for something or other, LOL! :) Ashton Kutcher, who is from Cedar Rapids, was spotted at a couple bars in Iowa City several *years* ago when he was home and I attended U of I at the time–I was sad I didn’t see him! ;)
  22. Cynthia says:
    Hahaha! You totally had me for a minute!! Hilarious dream. I always dream and always remember every detail. Sometimes it’s scary how much I dream and how strange some of them are. I too am a fan of the “chop once, enjoy twice”. I always make two salads on Sunday and haul them both to work on Monday and then repeat on Tuesday for the next few days. Makes life much easier, plus I’m already in the kitchen whipping up dinner, so why not get it all together while the kitchen is “open”. Btw, your brother is a cutie. You two could pass for twins. :)
  23. Larissa says:
    i have crazzzy dream ad usually remeber them all, which is very entertaining. I also talk in my sleep and last week was told i was laughing, my boyfriend wasnt sure if i was awak or not haha
  24. Dawn says:
    LOL… I live in So. Cal, so this would have been a normal experience, I was actually falling for it.
    I tried your enchiladas yesterday, and so good. I changed it to WW cheese, FF sour Cream and Cottage cheese and Fresh spinach and garlic. YUMM!!!
    Thanks for all the great recipes, keep them coming!
  25. Christie says:
    For a second there I was so surprised that the hubs knew who the Pussycat Dolls were! Too funny! I dream a lot, especially now that i’m preggers, and they always seem so off-the-wall crazy. You know its odd when you keep thinking back to it all day- haha!
    I love yoga but am not sure I can do the normal stuff, so was thinking of checking out yogadownload for possible “pregnancy yoga”. Do you think it is worth the cost?
    ~Christie
  26. *Andrea* says:
    haha i’m so gullible i thought it was real. then i paused and was like ‘isn’t she from iowa and isn’t the pussycat doll girl in hollywood?” hehe
    lovely lunch! those pb pretzels are SO good. i can’t buy them in bulk though or i’ll eat like 10 servings at once
  27. Sara says:
    You’re overnight oats look so good! I haven’t made them in awhile, but this post has made me want to start. You’re dream is so funny! I usually remember my dreams. Last week, I had an awesome dream where I was back in college with the actors from 90210 and the characters from the last book I read. I woke up laughing cause it was so silly!
  28. Midgetkeeper says:
    I knew your story wasn’t “real” when you started talking about Ben freaking out. So funny though.
    I have really vivid dreams and can remember most days, sometimes they are crazy, sometimes they are really real.
  29. Margarita says:
    That’s hilarious, I thought your husband might be…. let’s not go there! – thank goodness it was just a dream!!
  30. heather says:
    Dreams are funny, aren’t they? I have to take certain mediation(I’m epileptic)and one of the side-effects to expect are remembering really vivid, intense dreams. A doctor once explained why it happens when I was a teenager but I forgot the reason since…I think it’s a lot of fun, actually, since I’m used to it, except when it’s a nightmare–but those are awful for everyone, lol.
  31. Hahaha. You totally fooled me for a second. Then, I thought “in Iowa…really”? : )
  32. Hilaaarious dream. Yogadownload is pretty fab as well as Dave Farmar. Gotta love free podcasts!
  33. Kacy says:
    Umm, you totally had me going there lol. I’m so gullible.
    I have crazy dreams quite often, and they usually involve celebrities. Funny how they permeate our lives.
  34. Melinda says:
    Yeah you totally had me going there too lol
    That is quite the crazy dream! I don’t mind those type dreams- but I hate having nightmares uggh!
    Loving the oats- yum! :D
  35. Hannah says:
    You totally had me going there! I legitimately “LOL-ed” when you described Ben’s reaction. And I LOVE those PB pretzels. If I don’t watch out, I can go through a whole bag in a few days! Hope you have a good one :)
  36. Run Sarah says:
    What a crazy dream, I was shocked for a minute! Love blueberries & bananas in oats – perfect combo.
  37. I dream about once a week and they are often about the randomest things that could never happen.
    But your dream had me going for a minute :-)
  38. Theresa says:
    Hi there! Dreams are so funny, I love it when I remember them :)
    Your brother is cute :) He has quite the fan base on your blog!
    I have a random question, where do you get your frozen blueberries? They look so good, the frozen ones at my Trader Joes are tiny, those seem like they must be fresh that you froze yourself?
    Thanks :)
    Theresa
  39. kate says:
    Haha! I totally though that there was a celeb convention going on last night in Des Moines!
  40. Kaitlin says:
    I remember my dreams quite often, but usually not that vividly…honestly I usually only take away a few bits and pieces, never enough to tell the full story the next day.
    I love PB filled pretzels, too…so addicting!
  41. I love “Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels”, we don’t have Trader’s Joe near by but luckily our local grocery store, Publix, sales them and I bought my 2nd box this past weekend and am 1/2 done with it already……=O
    My dreams are CRAZY, I remember a lot of them too! Sometimes they are so real I feel confused when I wake up.
  42. Tiffany says:
    Just wanted to say I’m semi-new to your blog and I love it! :) I don’t usually remember my dreams either, but the ones I do remember are always verrry strange. By the way, I am jealous of your cooler weather! It is 95 degrees today in sunny AZ!
  43. I never remember my dreams but for some reason I did this morning! So strange. My husband is lucky enough to almost always remember his dreams.
    I love making things once for a double use like your salad. Why waste time doing it all over again?
  44. Great lunch! My nutritionist always tells me it’s more than okay to overdose on veggies! I heartily agree! Especially since the RDA for most people is three servings! I eat way more than that most days! Have a great night with more crazy dreams!
  45. [...] BB overnight oats were so incredibly tasty, I decided to bake up a batch this morning - it’s been ages since [...]
  46. Machelle says:
    I do dream alot, and can usually remember them, but not always. And they are usually crazy & make no sense. Lots of skipping from scene to scene & random people in & out. Occasionaly a nightmare but not to often, thank heavens! And if there is a house involved it is usually the one I grew up in, which was sold years ago.
  47. Exciting news: there is going to be a Trader’s Joe opening in Omaha, NE. That’s not too far from you and not to mention there are lots of amazing restuarants in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area.
  48. *Trader Joe’s, not Trader’s Joe!
  49. [...] I always say – chop once, enjoy twice! I actually made this salad on Sunday evening when I made Monday’s salad. It was all ready [...]
