Savory, Tangy, Spicy, Sweet

So, who said

Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject, so you know you are getting the best possible information.

Some of you guessed right – it was a Michael Scott from The Office! Ahh, I just love that show! The last couple of episodes have been awesome and have made me rekindle my love for Jim. I don’t know what happened, but I kind of felt indifferent about him for awhile. No more! I ♥ Jim. And Pam, for that matter.

I ♥ Jam.

At any rate, THANK YOU for all your goat cheese recipes and ideas today! I have several dishes that I want to try, so the goat cheese stands at the Farmer’s Market should expect to see me quite often this summer. ;) For dinner tonight, I incorporated my fresh cheese into some PIZZA

Spicy Sausage & Sundried Tomato Goat Cheese Pizza

Ingredients:

1 12″ pre-made pizza crust (I used Boboli Whole Wheat crust)

1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 Tablespoon chopped garlic

2 spicy Italian sausages, casings removed, cooked & drained

1 cup chopped, steamed asparagus

2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2.5 oz fresh chevre goat cheese

1/4 cup chopped sundried tomatoes

Directions:

Layer ingredients on the pizza crust, bake according to package directions and enjoy!

This pizza was piled HIGH and baked up in 8 minutes flat!

DSC_0010

The goat cheese kept it’s shape as the pizza baked, but when I pressed on it, it kind of melted down everywhere – INSANE!

DSC_0019

Cold goat cheese right out of the fridge is wonderfully tangy – almost like cream cheese. As it warms in the oven though, the chevre becomes smooth, mellow and wonderfully luscious.

DSC_0020

As I was assembling the pizza, I wondered if both mozzarella AND goat cheese were necessary. I can happily report that, yes, they are! The mozz was gooey, while the chevre was creamy. They were the dream team!

DSC_0024

You can really taste ALL the layers of flavor in this pizza too. Savory garlic, tangy goat cheese, spicy sausage and sweet sundried tomatoes.

DSC_0021

Pizza, pizza, pizza. Clearly I love the stuff!

DSC_0029

For dessert, I shall be dining on a Funfetti Cupcake.

DSC_0034

I made these for Ben because they’re his favorite, and clearly I cannot resist them!

DSC_0037

Ben eats his cupcakes in one bite, while I prefer to savor mine with at least four. What about you? How many bites per cupcake?

DSC_0039

Pizza and cupcakes…what am I – 11? Ahh, TGIF. :)

In Friday evening news, I picked up The Men Who Stare At Goats from Red Box to watch tonight. George Clooney kind of drives me nuts – but I’m so intrigued by this movie. I have no idea what it’s about, yet it’s extremely popular. Hmmm… We shall see!!!

Have a great Friday night, whatever it is you’re doing!

Cupcakes need to be savored in 3 bites with the bottom pulled off and put on the top like a cupcake sandwich.

I love thin whole wheat crust with goat cheese or mozz and lots of veggies, preferably roasted.

I don’t hate one actor in particular but I hate certain types of movies like Knocked Up and The Hangover.

Funfetti Cupcakes are hands-down the best cupcakes out there. I like to take as many bites out of my cupcake as I can to savor it all. YUM!!!! I’m craving one right now.

The pizza looks good. I may have to pick up some cheese tomorrow! Even though it’s supposed to be super cold tomorrow morning, I think we’re still heading out.

I am about 3 bites, maybe 4, depending on the size of the cupcakes. Have you ever had Barbara’s Champagne cupcakes? Fareway in Urbandale sells them (in the produce section, LOL). Fantastic. Seriously fantastic. Let Them Eat Cake in Valley Junction has great individual cakes that are excellent–and huge for individual size!!

We saw The Men Who Stare at Goats. Since I’m guessing you are off for the night, I will say that when it was over, my husband and I were like, “That was the most pointless movie. Ever.” LOL. Not bad, necessarily, just pointless! We finally saw Avatar–I wasn’t impressed at all. Probably was very pretty on the big screen, but otherwise, eh.

    Have a great night!

Forgot to add–the celebs that drive me crazy are the ones who think they know everything because they are famous and dispense medical advice and other knowledge without any (Jenny McCarthy, Tom Cruise, etc etc). It’s fine if people come to the same conclusions as they do after research, but not for them to act like everyone needs to heed their every word, KWIM? Sorry for that rant. Enjoy your movie!

I love this pizza from Cali Pizza Kitchen that has pears and goat cheese and veggies… so amazing, it’s the kind of dish I probably couldn’t make as well at home! Scarlett Johannsen drives me up the wall! IDK what it is about her!

That pizza sounds amazzzingg, I love warm goat cheese! have a nice evening!
I’ve been reading your blog for a couple months now & it seems that maybe Ben works shift work of some type, I would love to see a post about “cooking for 1″ …my husband was in the Marine Corps until October & now works for the federal government but he’s always been on shifts so I know what it’s like to cook for 1, but your meals always look so much better! I’ve been taking notes :)

I am a big fan of goat cheese on pizza – love the melty goodness! It’s also awesome in a veggie omelette- fabulous flavor!

yummmm another fabulous pizza of yours to try. i had a slice from whole foods today: roasted tomato, broccoli rabe, and ricotta. amazing! i prefer jules thin crust pizza (local place) with goat cheese, caramelized onions, fresh mint, edamame, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese. i also love funfetti cupcakes! do you ever take the botton off and put it on top of the icing like a cupcake sandwich!? then you dont get icing everywhere :) and red button is the shiz. i dont have one near me, but its totally the way to go!!

I totally agree about Jim. It’s because he got really professional and mature for a while. He was so serious! Now he’s back to his goofy self and I love it :) Haha die hard office nerd right heeeyah!

I saw that movie but I wasn’t a fan at all.. it was a bit strange. But to each his own.
    That pizza sounds SO good!
And I like to eat the very bottom off of the cupcake, then the inside, and then the top and icing :)

The Office is one of the best shows around! We watch it ALL of the time!

My favorite pizza is anything with lots of cheese and veggies on it! Yum!! Cupcakes usually take about four bites for me…anything less and I don’t get to enjoy my cupcake as much as I should!

Tom Cruise is the celebrity that drives me crazy….I can’t stand him!

I go crazy for pineapples on my pizza – my sister got me hooked while in college. And while I don’t have a preference on whole wheat/white/etc crust, I’m a huge fan of a glorious, filling, golden, rising crust.

Paris Hilton – I think I roll my eyes anytime I come across her name (followed oh-so-closely by Lindsay Lohan, who only avoids first place because I do actually think her dad is crazy, so there is some pity in my heart for her).

i hope you liked the movie but…i thought it was awful. i literally sat in the theatre 1/2 way through, 3/4ths of the way through, and after the movie thinking “what is this movie ABOUT!?”

I need to make your pizza. Goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes are just about my favorite things on Earth.
I don’t really have a favorite pizza. Its all delicious to me.
I don’t get annoyed by one particular celebrity but I do get annoyed when they complain about paparazzi but then they go to lunch at The Ivy or some other restaurant popular with celebrities that always has paparazzi swarming around.

How did you like the movie? I was a little iffy about it at first, but found it was HILARIOUS!! Love, love Ewan MCGregor.

I don’t really like pizza…but I can imagine if I did, it’d all be about the peanut butter pineapple pizza you won the contest with, or goat’s cheese!
Annoying celebs – anyone from reality TV. Boooo at them!

I agree, the last couple of episodes from The Office have been hilarious! I love goat cheese in salads, omelets and pizza of course, but some of my favorite pizza toppings are broccoli… I know it may seem weird, but it’s sooo good!

You know, we saw Up In The Air last night and I would have liked it a lot better except for George Clooney. He’s okay, but I hate some of the stupid things he does with his face. Some of his expressions are so annoying, it makes me want to punch him!!

    Other than that, thumbs up.

Mmmm….pizza! I’ll give any combo a taste! I know this is plain & simple, but the new Dominos hand tossed crust is wonderful! We ordered a pepperoni & mushroom which was very good, and a sausage & onion which was to die for! No kidding!
