Millions of Pieces, Pieces for Me.

Did you watch the Dancing with the Stars finale last night?!

I watched this season on and off, but tuned in last night to see who would take home the coveted mirrored-ball trophy. WOW (spoiler alert) Nicole can DANCE! Maybe it’s because she’s a…professional dancer…but that girl has some moves, and I’m glad she won. I had goosebumps the entire time she was on stage – what a performer! :D

In other news, my day is filled with 3-piece meals starting with an awesome, sampler style breakfast.

Omg that reminds me a House Hunters episode that Ben and I recently saw where every time the potential home buyer went into a bathroom, he’d count the number of pieces of furniture in it. For example, he’d call a bathroom with two sinks, a toilet, shower and seperate tub -  a 5 piece. “Wow. Great 5-piece setup they’ve got in here.” he’d say. He made it a point to call out how many “pieces” were in every bathroom he saw and it was hysterical! What a crazy person.

At any rate, first up is a decadent, better-then-a-real-cookie Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar.

Just three ingredients. 3. Dates, peanuts, salt. SO buttery and incredible!

A Fat-Free Raspberry Yogurt.

And a Pink Lady Apple! My co-worker keeps a small knife at work that we slice our apples with when it’s time to chow. Much easier than slicing at home and worrying about browning (although that doesn’t change the tate of an apple!)

Googly.

Lunch is another 3-piece feast.

First up is a repeater of Monday’s humongous Vegetable Salad.

In the mix:

  • Mixed greens
  • Baby spinach
  • Cucumber
  • Carrots
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Deli turkey
  • Peanuts

Rounding out the meal will be a 2-piece snack.

Some Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels, (I’m pretty sure I could single-handedly keep a TJ’s in business if they came to my town. I’m just sayin’…)

and a Cascadian Farm Chocolate Chip Granola Bar.

DSC_0016

Gotta love those 3-piece meals!

DSC_0019

Oh, I also brought a little bowl of grape tomatoes to pop. I’d say that’s a 25-piece.

Does it feel like Thursday to anyone else? I’ve had day later syndrome all week, as in, I keep thinking it’s a day later than it actually is. What a bust!

Happy Hump Day!

How many pieces are in your meals today? Do you like to have a lot of little pieces or fewer bigger pieces for your meals?

I like lots of little pieces. I’m all about quantity at meal time!

I also have been thinking it’s Thursday! That is so weird. I hate it! And yes, my lunch and meals throughout the day are always filled with tons of pieces!

I have 2 jobs and go to school, my meals are all about stuffing as much nutritious food in my face at one time!! Think huge veggie pitas, homemade smoothies, and chicken wraps!!

I definitely love pieces to my meals. Today is a really yummy looking Lean Cuisine (it’s crunch time at work!), a Chobani peach yogurt and Snyder’s pretzels. I also have been thinking it’s a day later … probably because I can’t wait to see the Sex and the City movie tonight!

I love having lots of pieces to my meals, but today is definitely not one of those days for me! Everything I packed was a one-parter. Oops! And, get out of my head! I keep thinking it’s Thursday too!

I love multiple piece meals! I reguarly have like, a 3 course lunch :P it’s nice to draw it out!

Are you a “Sex and the City” fan? I’ve been hoping it’s Thursday for weeks now! So excited for the movie. Also, you mentioned earlier that you heard Trader Joes is coming to DSM….deets please! :D

This is my kids’ last week of school and my days are way off! Your food looks great today–mine is full of random leftovers and things that are easy. Busy times right now.

I’ve enjoyed Dancing with the Stars this season…but I do think it’s unfair on who they pick to participate. Nicole is a professional dancer/singer and Evan is an Olympic Ice Skater…that seems like a slight advantage to me! :) I’m usually a 2 – 3 item meal person.

YOu know what’s weird?! I actually UNDERESTIMATED how quickly my week is going! When I was blogging this morning, I actually typed out “Two question Tuesday” then I remembered I was a day behind!! Haha.

Kristin, love your blog and all your recipes! Sorry to go off topic but I’ve been trying to find that brand of Indian sauces you’ve used that has all natural ingredients. The name escapes me but I know it can be found at Whole Foods. Can you please let me know what it is so I can pick some up? Looks delicious. Thanks so much.

Trader Joe’s PB pretzels are the bomb! I completely understand the craving.

I like to have a lot of different things too! And that salad just inspired me to go make one just like that, thank you!

i’m wearing a trader joe’s shirt to sleep last night…if i was still dating the guy who gave this to me i’d have him get you one, too! their puffy popcorn is even better than their pb pretzels, esp. the jalapeno kind. i only bring lunch to work if i have leftovers from an epic dinner(which usually get eaten post haste in this house). otherwise i dig the produce bar at stop and shop…although now i’m in the mood for jalapeno popcorn so i might just stop at tj’s–which is two lots down from where i work. i know, be jealous. <3

I love trying to eat that way, and for the most part it works because I am def more of a snacker! For breakfast I go for sweet most of the time and low cal. Things like oatmeal with fruit or a light yogurt with a tablespoon of agave nectar swirled in (AMAZING if you have never tried it!) Lunch is pretty much a salad, and then I have my 3pm snack which varies everyday. Sometimes 100 cal popcorn bags, fruit, veggies with PB, anything healthy yet indulgent. Dinner is my time to snack and eat a lot of pieces. :-)

I’m MY Friday, hooray! I was lazy and brought a frozen meal today… lobster cheese ravioli. And an apple. No knife here though so I’ll be eating out of hand. :)

It is my Thursday, I have Friday OFF!!! Im actually a one item person all day long to spread out of the joy because of my snacking obsession. As for dinner, its usually just protein and either vegetable or carb. Simple and easy!

I usually have 1 piece for my breakfast…maybe 2. But my lunch always includes multiple pieces, I like to be able to make my meals last!

  24. Comment Callout

I’ve felt like that all week too. I attribute it to LOST being on Sunday. Threw me off completely.

I like volume so I I feel fuller. I can’t deal with calorie dense things that don’t have a lot.

I’m a one piece picker kind of a gal.
I’ll eat an omlette. Then a few hours later grab a few starwberries. Eat a sandwhich for lunch, then an hour or so later grab a yogurt & fruit.
And dinner is usually one combo dish. Ex. Pasta with broccoli, chicken stir fry, etc. I am not good with “side dishes” just main meals and most of them are thanks to you these days!!! =)

I’m diggin the pieces of your meals! I’m def a pieces kind of girl, especially when I dine out. Appetizer, entree, dessert is usually the standard pieces haha.
I think to make lunches more substantial I should break them down into more pieces instead of just a sandwich.

It technically is Thursday for me because I have Friday off…sorry, so boastful! I am all about the multi course lunch! I like it to last as long as possible and to occur at about 3 different points during the day! I basically love eating all day long!

I guess my lunch was a three piecer! Fareway shaved ham & mustard on a hamburger bun, a few bites of cottage cheese & a bottle of water. I’m gonna grill me a big ole ribeye w/sauted mushrooms tonight though! WooHoo! Probably have a small lettuce salad with it.

Your website is all the buzz at our local library. My wife told me you had some great recipes. She’s right! You have wonderful recipes. Actually, I’m writing because you and your blog introduced me to Larabar’s! I can’t eat soy products and thankfully you post all kinds of great stuff including larabars on your blog. Now I actually have something to eat on my bike rides! Thank you for introducing products and recipes that can help us all!
