Hello friends!
I went AWOL this weekend, but I’m back! Hmmm, what have I been up to…
Hanging out with oooold friends. The best kind
The guy in the middle is Brian – who I just blogged about last week! I didn’t even know he was going to be in town this weekend until he randomly called Ben while we were out to dinner on Friday night. What a co-ink!
My Mom and I went to see The A-Team on Saturday. Umm, it was awesome! Funny, action-packed and just really likeable. Jessica Biel is in the movie, who normally drives me nuts, but I even enjoyed her in it!
Bradley Cooper as “Face” wasn’t so bad either. omg!
Last night I finally rented Sherlock Holmes which I’ve been dying to see. Surprisingly hilarious and witty – I kind of want to buy this movie it was so good!
There was eating too, natch.
My family celebrated Father’s Day this afternoon with lunch at my parent’s house, since they’ll be out of town next weekend.
I brought a wedge of smoked brie with red grapes and garlic herb crackers for an appetizer. I LOVE BRIE!
My Mom made a colorful, flavorful feast for lunch!
Baked Parmesan Panko-Crusted Chicken. So crunchy!!
Freshly steamed green beans.
And a zesty orzo salad. Italian dressing, orzo, spinach, parsley, cheese & tomatoes. So yummy!!!
This dish was the ish!
Fathers on Father’s Day!
The whole gang (well, kind of – miss you Peep!)
It has been raining cats and dogs…and birds and monkeys all weekend…it literally will not stop! The annual Hy-Vee triathlon - the only Olympic qualifying event in North America this year – was this weekend, and has been completely messed up because of the rain. The kids race was cancelled on Saturday, the amateur tri was changed to a “sprint” tri (shortened swim, bike and run) and the elite group I think are competing right now. Fingers crossed!!
Can you imagine training for months and months – and months – for a triathlon, only to have it cancelled or changed at the last minute?! Those poor athletes!
At any rate, I will be staying indoors for the remainder of the day. It’s usually a bummer to have a weekend filled with rain, but sometimes it’s nice to have an excuse to just bum around. You need those every once in awhile, don’t you?
Have a good rest of your weekend!!
