Isn’t it fun to see what the people in front of you in line at the grocery store are buying?
The guy in front of me today was going home to make breakfast fit for a KING. He had the works – OJ, hashbrowns, breakfast sausage, biscuits, eggs, cheese, BUTTER. Lots of butter, actually, but still – YUM!
Here’s what I came away with – for $43.97.
The produce:
- Basil
- Baby spinach
- Lettuce blend
- Broccoli
- Cherry tomatoes
- Bananas
- Cucumber
- Avocado
- Green onions
- Bing cherries
- Sweet potato
- Baby carrots
- GIANT watermelon (unpictured)
Everything else:
- Skim milk
- MultiGrain Cheerios
- Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze
- EarthGrains 100% Whole Wheat Bread
- Tasty Bite Good Korma sauce
- Frozen chicken
- Extra-firm tofu
- Parm garlic pita chips
Zee grand totale:
I had a coupon which made the Cheerios free, but overall I think I made out pretty well!
Now, the crisis I find myself in every time I get back from the grocery store is, what do I pick to eat first?! In today’s case, it was the quickest thing I could get my hands on – I was STARVING! Enter MultiGrain Cheerios & Almond Butter Toast to save the day!
Why is cereal and cold milk so satisfying. Why??
It’s been awhile since I had unsweetened vanilla almond breeze and I forgot how much I adore it. Slightly sweet and slightly vanilla-y.
This EarthGrains bread is SO hearty and filling. Coupled with the almond butter, I was almost immediately satisfied.
Much better!
On another note, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all you Papa’s out there!! An especially large shout out to my Dad (who we celebrated FD with last weekend) and my Father-in-Law who, while not here in person, is here in spirit!! We love you both!!!!
Dads make the world go ’round. Don’t they?
Ok – all those errands and chores I put off yesterday so I could walk/read/lounge are still around today and must get taken care of. Got to skadoodle!
PEACE.

Tell me your favorite thing about your Dad.
My favorite thing about my Dad is that he is 100%, genuinely ecstatic to see me, my brothers, family, etc every single time we see him. We know we are loved!

You get a lot of bang for your buck in the US!
Ooof, I don’t talk to my dad, so I can’t answer that question! My favourite thing about my step dad though would be that he’s such a computer whiz
Dang, that is a lot of loot for not much moolaw! Your grocery store is awesome! Happy Sunday.
I love that my dad is so easy going and laid back, yet he is SUPER protective and always wants the best for me.
LOVE the unsweetened almond breeze! I’m addicted to it right now!
My dad is one of the best people that I know! He genuinely cares for people and is so easy to talk to!
Gotta love a good grocery store trip!!
My dad has always been there for me! I love him:)
I love that my Dad has always spoken the truth in love, even when it is hard to hear it. He has helped me grow into who I am today. I also LOVE his sense of humor – he’s definitely got a goofy side!
I should also add he was a single father to 3 girls – starting when 2 of them were still in diapers! I don’t know many dads who could do that! He’s my #1 hero.
Hey…gave you a shout out at http://jqlee.wordpress.com/ – she’s in the midwest also….I love my midwest bloggies!!
One of the things that always gets me is the price of chicken. I used to buy frozen chicken breasts all the time, but I’ve switched to fresh because we eat them plain grilled and the fresh chicken just tastes so much better to us. When you are cooking chicken do you buy the frozen bags? I love that my dad always makes time for me. I don’t think that he has ever said “I’m sorry but I’m too busy to talk to you right now.” He’s usually the first person I call when something comes up (Btw Kristin this is my second reply on your blog so I’ll sign myself as Dawn Patricia from now on because I see another Dawn on here too)
YUUUM!
Gotta love your breakfast combos, Kristin!
SO. YUM.
Hahahaha!
Wish you a great week
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
Thats a good amount of food for less than $50, awesome!
My Dad has AWESOME taste in music, and he is always willing to take me to a new concert or show!! Love that!
xo
Kris
My dad is the most genuine, caring person and has the cheesiest sense of humor. I love our runs together, too!
Looks like you got some good produce. Just curious why you didn’t get these at the farmstands since it’s local and fresher? Everything looks good! I always love all of the fresh produce in the cart and on my refrigerator shelf! I’ve got organic spincach, organic raspberries, strawberries, broccoli, organic bananas along with the staples-organic sweet onion, organic garlic, etc. Can you tell I am trying to buy more organic, lol?
My father died when I was 13 so it’s been a while. The thing I loved the most was that he always wanted to take me along whenever he went anywhere (I have three siblings.). I always felt special. But the best part was that all of my siblings felt they were his favorite too. What a gift to give your children…to make all of them feel they were your favorite!
Love your blog. Can’t wait for your trip!
I love seeing what other people buy at grocery stores, so exciting… or am I just a bit nosy?
I love my dad for supporting me through EVERYTHING I’ve gone through in my life
I love my dad!
hehe
