Getting Back on the Bandwagon!

47

Goood morning!

After a particularly indulgent past couple of days – ie, cake for lunch – it feels good to get back on the bandwagon! Starting with a muggy Mom walk and a fresh Greek Yogurt & Fruit Bowl for breakfast. :)

In the mix:

  • Strawberries
  • Bing cherries
  • Blueberries
  • Peach Chobani

DSC_0006

I was a Chobani WARRIOR at the store this weekend. They were on sale, 4/$5, AND I printed out several buy 2 get 1 free coupons

DSC_0003

I even made Ben check out behind me so we could use two of the coupons and get 6 for the price of 4. Yes, I am that girl. Muwahahaha! Do you use coupons? Any good sites/deals to share?

DSC_0004

Anyways, the thick, peach yogurt acted as the icing on my fruity cake. SO luscious, filling, fresh

DSC_0007

and LIGHT! Thanks Heavens for some LIGHT food!

DSC_0008

Steaming up in the sticky air outside!

DSC_0009

I’m heading in the same direction with lunch, too. I’ve got a ginormous Kitchen Sink Salad and a juicy peach.

DSC_0067

In the mix:

  • Mixed greens
  • Baby spinach
  • Cucumbers
  • Tomato
  • Tofu
  • Peanuts
  • Blueberries

Seriously couldn’t be more random…

DSC_0075

but it’s love! Honestly, the more flavors and texture combos you can combine in a salad, the more un-salad-like it’ll be. Keeps things interesting, know what I mean?

DSC_0074

Talk about interesting…

DSC_0069

I am SO jazzed about this week. It consists of a three day work week (getting out of dodge this weekend!) a pedi with my Mom, and putting together my new Keurig!

I was going to get it going last night, but got sucked into the Bachelor reunion hell fire of the couple formally known as Jake & Vienna. Train. Wreck. He is a raging lunatic. Don’t get me wrong, Vienna’s got ISSues, but Jake is clearly an emotionless droid.

Clearly I don’t know either of them, yet I talk like I do. Either way, like I said, issues! 8O

Have a wonderful day back to all those that were out for the long weekend!

~~~~~
How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? What takes the most time?
I can shower, get dressed, do hair & makeup in 45 minutes flat. 40 minutes if I’m really concentrating! My makeup takes the longest!!
    Your breakfast looks perfect! I’m back on the bandwagon today, too! Way too many indulgences this weekend!
    I love coupons…it’s like a game to see how much I can save at the grocery store!
    I get ready in about 45 minutes if I have no interruptions….but if my children are awake and need breakfast, etc. it takes longer!
    Love the clothes you got on the shopping spree. Don’t you love Von Maur? We have one here and I love it. What a great birthday you had! Roughly 45 minutes, sometimes a little longer to back comb my hair. I am not a Jake fan. You are right, while Vienna has her issues, in this case, I think Jake was the one who was wrong. His ex-girlfriend said the same thing Vienna said and I am sure had Vienna not said anything, Jake would have done his thing. I hope his 15 minutes of fame is up. Maybe he could hook up with Kate Gosselin? Both of them seem to love the limelight.
  3. Comment Callout
    45 minutes too. Makeup is definitely the culprit!
  4. Comment Callout
    That Jake/Vienna thing was INSANE!
    It takes me about 30-40 minutes. If I don’t dry my hair, I can be ready in 15-20!
  5. Comment Callout
    hahahahaha i LOVED your recap of jake and vienna. i don’t watch, but i have heard PLENTY of comments about it. cray-zay. your lunch looks great! i have zero to no produce in my house…must. change. that. fast. enjoy your tuesday!! where ya goin this wknd?
    Yep, 45 minutes from shower to walking out the door as long as I stay on task. I like to dilly-dally sometimes when getting ready. :-)
    Your breakfast looks delish! I am also back on the bandwagon this week, and kick-starting my Des Moines 1/2 marathon training. Hoo-ray!
  7. Comment Callout
    You inspire me to pack salads for lunch. When I make them, they never fill me up but you pack yours so full of stuff, like tofu, that I think I could stay full and energized with a salad like that!
    It takes me 40 minutes to get ready. But then I like to have extra time to eat breakfast and pack my lunch, if I’m not coming home. And I always take too long to prep and eat breakfast so i’m rushed getting ready! but I’d rather skimp on make-up than breakfast. :)
    It looks like you’re well fueled to get back to it.
    Generally, I like to allow about 1 hour to get ready in the morning including showering, hair, makeup, coffee, breakfast, and a little morning news.
    I agree with you 100% on the Jake/Vienna thing. I dont care for the girl (now & when she was on the show) but he is just IRRITATING. I loved the “fame whore” commment and Chris Harrison’s comment “okay- we don’t care about the dog..” LOL.
    I can shower, get dressed, do hair and makeup in 20 minutes! That’s if I’m going really fast and if I know what I’m wearing…deciding what to wear easily takes the longest time!
    I definitely indulged a lot this weekend too – looking forward to some lighter fare this week because the weekend is going to be the same all over again – husbands bday….
    I need to print some of those chobani coupons!
    I get ready in less than 10 minutes in the morning, only if I shower the night before. Then I just get dressed, wash my face, brush my teeth and finish my makeup in the car (bad- I know). Obviously, I could care less what I look like at work!
    I’ve been avoiding anything that has to do with The Bachelor since last season. Jake & Vienna just annoy me. It’s funny that you said he’s an “emotionless droid,” especially since all he did was cry like a baby on his season! :)
    I give myself about an hour to get ready in the morning because I have a tendency to dilly-dally. But if I really focus, I can be ready in 30 minutes.
  13. Mikael 07.06.2010
    That is one random salad but it actually sounds really quite appetizing… It takes me the same amount of time to do the things you do if all at once. But I like to shower at night so I can sleep in a little more and it only takes me 10 minutes to get ready =) Makeup does take the longest! What the hey? Haha…
  14. Comment Callout
    Oh, my hair takes the longest! It’s very thick and wavy, so I have to blow dry it AND straighten it…it’s rather annoying! I probably take about 50-55 minutes.
  15. Danielle 07.06.2010
    Comment Callout
    I didn’t get to watch the train wreck that was Jake and Vienna last night but I’m sure it was interesting.
    I am with Courtney with the thick and wavy hair so it takes me any where from 60-70 minutes to get ready if I go from shower to blow dry to straighten to make-up. If I have already washed/dried my hair the night before I can get ready in about 30 mins. (20 to straighten and 10 for make-up). I think I must be doing something wrong in the make-up department because it doesn’t take me very long at all to do!
    I watched Jake & Vienna last night too! Had the same opinion you did. Pretty sad when someone can actually make you feel sorry for Vienna! What would possess them to want to air their dirty laundry for all of America anyway?!
    I’m taking Fri. off, too. Yay 3-day work week! :)
    I can get ready in 45 min., too, but that’s pushin’ it. Makeup takes me the longest, too.
    Jake has emotional constipation written all over his pinched up face! He gives me the creeps, fake fake fake!!!
    I can get me and my daughter out the door in less than an hour and that is with her having a nice sit down breakfast… but I just get coffee! She had pancakes with Choc chips this morning. But sometimes its just fruit and yogurt!
    Can’t wait till next Bach!
    I can get ready in 15 if I shower the night before and eat breakfast at work ;) I usually take about 45 minutes though, too. My hair takes the longest.
    I couldn’t even watch the Bachelor thing. They were driving me crazy.
    I don’t really use coupons for grocery shopping since I don’t buy a lot of name brand stuff but I use them sometimes when we go out to eat (valpak.com, restaurants’ web sites). I snagged a few half price gift certificates from WHO recently too (http://whotv.realdeals-tv.com/). Score!
    Haha, your comments about last night’s Bachelor reunion cracked me up. I missed it – too bad, ’cause it sounds like it was entertaining. Now I have to see if the episode is posted on the web somewhere. Jake is such a WEIRDO! It’s sad how many men in our society just stopped growing emotionally at the age of 14 or something.
    Ok, that salad is pretty random, probably too random for me. Your breakfast looks good though!
    Usually I can be ready in 30-35. Drying my hair always takes the longest! And if I have to shave my legs–UGH!!! Then it’s more like 45 minutes. All this is assuming I know what I’m going to wear & don’t take 15 minutes picking out an outfit!
    Sometimes I check out Learning the Frugal Life blogspot, because she reports on the specials at HyVee, Fareway and Target and even matches up coupons from the Sunday Des Moines Register. It can save me time — although there are items I purchase that she doesn’t so I still check the original store ads.
    That fruit and yogurt looks amazing! We are having an unreal heat wave in the Northeast and all I can stomach is refreshing fruit and salads.
    I can get ready pretty quickly – 30 minutes or so – but my hair is a pain to dry. Even though I can get ready fast, I love taking it slow, sipping coffee, and watching the Today Show as I get it together for the day.
    The Jake and Vienna thing was craaaazy! It definitely made Jake look like a jerk with capital “J!”
    It probably takes me an hour to get ready each morning, including breakfast, making my lunch, showering, clothes, packing workout wear, makeup and hair.
    Your salad looks similar to mine from today’s lunch! Love throwing a million things into the bowl!
    Honestly, it ranges for morning time preparation depending on how much effort I want to put into it, if I want to wear makeup, if I want my locks to air dry or unnaturally hair dry with a blower, etc.
    It can seriously range from 20 minutes to an hour. :-)
    I’m totally that girl when i comes to coupons too. He’s a seperate customer and they are still getting their money :-)
    I can get ready in about 20 minutes. It helps that I wear the same uniform and I have minimal make up. Also my hair is just wash and spray with scrunch spray for the curls. Makes getting ready a breeze. Date night is an entirely different story.
    I thought I was pretty quick at getting ready in the morning, but I guess that because I dont go to bed till midnight everynight, it takes me a little longer than it should to get ready. So I think in total, I have found that I spend about an hour getting ready, but that is because I almost always have to close my eyes for a few minutes while in the shower!! :)
  33. Kristin 07.06.2010
    Comment Callout
    Okay, so I am a weirdo.
    1. I am a coupon freak because I’m just coming out of grad school and getting ready to start my first teaching job (IE I’m poor!), and this is what I do. I set aside one hour every Sunday to cut out all the coupons I might use from the Sunday Register, and I put them in my coupon binder. This is just a one-inch binder that I’ve separated by tabs into categories like “Snacks,” “Groceries,” “Beauty Products,” etc. Each section has six baseball-card holders. You know, those plastic snap-in sheets with nine baseball-card-sized pockets? And that’s where I categorize coupons. Before I file them every Sunday I take out all the expired ones and reorganize them. :D I am definitely a little OCD in that sense… But it works for me, and I save a lot of money! I try not to buy things just because I have coupons–I try to only stick with my usual products or fun occasional splurges.
    2. I allow almost TWO HOURS to get ready in the morning. I am NOT a morning person, and I move very slowly in the morning. I like to have coffee when I wake up and read my horoscope in the Register, then shower, then spend too long picking out my outfit, then I get hot from the shower so I check my email by my fan (hahah!), blah blah blah. I just wander around a lot during that time. Eventually I do my make-up and hair. My hair is long and thick and wavy, so it takes FOREVER if I decide to do anything to it. If I run out of time (yes, even with two hours I sometimes lose track of time) doing my hair is the first thing to go. Ponytail or braid and there I go. I know it’s crazy, and I could sleep more if I got a better morning routine, but I just know how slow I am in the morning, so I would rather allow myself lots of time than rush around!
    That makes me sound crazy after reading that… :)
    Your makeup always looks flawless and there is never a hair outta place on your head. Me, I’m a bit of a mess. On the average day i roll out of bed and don’t put makeup on or blowdry my hair. I shower at night so basically i get ready in 15 minutes. I’m soooo not a morning person! eeeks. (I don’t look that good that i don’t need to do these things, i’m just LAZY). ahaha anyways, I just watched the jake vs vienna nightmare. WTF is wrong with them. for once i felt sympathetic for the girl! She is not without issues like you said but Jake, wow. Lost some respect!
    I sit in a dark corner cubical so usually I come in in the mornings without makeup! GASP! But then I quietly put it on before anyone notices (takes about ten mins). So my morning routine takes about 45 mins if I blow dry my hair, or 30 if I leave it wet and let it get wavy :-) Any lunch/breakfast prep I do the night beforehand so I don’t have to waste any of my precious beauty sleep! ;-)
