It’s a beautiful morning here in central Iowa, so I decided to head out into the sunsetRISE for a 4.25 mile run after my Mom walk! Plus, there’s no time like the present to break in a new pedicure. ;)

The morning air was humid, but cool, and the run was pretty terrific except for a brief encounter with a certain black dog. You know the one. I even ran on the other side of the street from its house, but it still chased after me for a couple seconds before giving up. Bad dog!

Since my run, I literally haven’t been able to cool my body temp down, so I decided another, refreshing Oatgurt needed to be on the breakfast menu – a Peach Almond Oatgurt!

In the mix:

  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 banana
  • cinnamon, almond extract
  • Peach Chobani Greek Yogurt
  • Peach
  • Sliced almonds

So creamy! And especially luscious with a fresh, juicy peach. What am I going to do when all the fabulous summer produce goes away?! I can’t even think about it!

I know it’s only my second bowl of oatgurt, but I’m obsessed. The thick Greek yogurt is like icing on the oatmeal.

I’m especially loving this combo because I like to eat oatmeal for breakfast year round, but sometimes it’s just too hot. The cold yog cools everything down into a mellow, refreshing breakfast that can be enjoyed on even the hottest of summer mornings. Yes!

I packed my matching chop once, eat twice Kitchen Sink Salad and a Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar for lunch today.

In the mix:

  • Mixed greens
  • Baby spinach
  • Cucumber
  • Tomato
  • Tofu
  • Blueberries
  • Peanuts

Like I said on Tuesday, this salad contains a seriously eccentric combo of flavors and textures – but it was awesome! I drizzled it with Annie’s Lite Raspberry Vinaigrette,

and it was good. :)

Second day in a row for a Larabar…

I HEART Peanut Butter Cookie – it’s my favorite LB flavor. It’s actually better than a peanut butter cookie (I swear to you) and has only three ingredients. Wheee!

In other news, I set up my Keurig last night and brewed my first cup this morning! Here she is, in all her glory.

A Keurig machine brews single cups of coffee using these coffee “pods”. You can buy packs of pods in different flavors and brew strengths, or you can even buy a reusable pod that lets you add in your own coffee grinds.

You fill the side chamber with water (and only refill it when it’s empty – about every 3 or 4 cups,) place a pod on top and pull down.

Then all you have to do is press “on”,

wait for the blue lights to blink, indicating the water is hot, (which took, like, ONE minute!)

and brew, baby, brew!

It’s so nice to have the smell of freshly brewed coffee in the house again! I used to brew pots for just myself in the mornings, as Ben doesn’t drink coffee, but it got to be such a hassle to clean, change out the filters, etc. This is no fuss, no muss. It’s love!

In other, other news, it’s Three Question Thursday! My aging mind seems to have forgotten it the past several weeks. ;)

Answer on!

1. What’s your favorite kitchen gadget?

2. Would you rather be stuck on a deserted island with Carrot Top or Joan Rivers?

3. What made you smile yesterday?

My answers:

1. This Keurig is pretty high up there, but I also ADORE my mini food processor. Couldn’t live without it!

2. UGH this seriously makes me squirm because I would rather be swimming away from the desert island than be stuck on it with either of them!! If I had to chose, though, I’d choose Carrot Top!

3. Mother/Daughter pedis & dinner!
