My 6 Ways to Have a Great Day

36

Today’s going to be a GREAT day, and here’s why!

I kicked my morning off with a run. I must have brought some of that warm Texas weather home with me, because we’re supposed to have heat indexes in the 100s this week. No way I’m running in that, so I banged out three miles in the cool morning air. Done and done! 8)

Oh here’s the little, plastic water bottle that I was telling you I occasionally like to run with.

DSC_0013

It’s actually a travel sized shampoo/conditioner bottle I bought at Target, but it fits perfectly in the palm of my hand and is so convenient for those shorter runs where I think I might need just a sip of water to help get me through.

DSC_0012

I found $5 in my pocket while getting dressed! No idea where it came from. A true surprise – awesome!

DSC_0005

I had the most refreshing breakfast. :D

Berry-Banana Oatgurt!

DSC_0018

In the mix:

  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 banana (1/2 sliced in while cooking, 1/2 on top)
  • Cinnamon, vanilla extract
  • Raspberry Chobani Greek Yogurt
  • Blueberries

DSC_0017

I microwaved my oats, water and half a banana for two minutes, stirred and nuked for 1 more minute. Stirred in the vanilla and cinnamon, then topped with thick Greek yogurt, the other half of my banana and some bluebs.

DSC_0019

SO cool and creamy – especially since I couldn’t stop sweating after that run!!

DSC_0021

There’s goat cheese in the Kitchen Sink Salad I packed for lunch. ‘Nuff said!

DSC_0003

In the mix:

  • Baby spinach
  • Cucumber
  • Carrots
  • Blueberries
  • Pecans
  • Garlic Chive Goat Cheese

DSC_0004

Sometimes I mix my goat cheese up into my salads, but this stuff is so good I think I’ll eat the blobs all by themselves. It’s actually the garlic chive goat cheese I got from the Farmer’s Market last weekend, and is UNDENIABLY the greatest salad topper ever (and sandwich topper, for that matter!)

DSC_0006

It’s got a supporting cast of a mini Lemon Bar Larabar and Pink Lady Apple!

DSC_0007

So cute!

DSC_0009

So juic-ay!

DSC_0010

There’s a ice cold coffee waiting for me in the freezer! I brewed a cup before my run this morning, using my Keurig, and stuck it in the freezer so it’d be cold by the time I left for work. Oh. Yes. Add some ice and vanilla creamer – and I’m GTG. Who needs Starbucks?! Do you use creamer/sugar/flavoring in your coffee?

DSC_0002

I get to see my little brother tonight! He’s home from Colorado for a few days, so I will be hangin’ and catchin up with him this evening.

Wow, 6 reasons why I’m having a great day, and it’s not even 8am. Holy cow, knock on wood. ;)

Time to get this party started – happy Tuesday!

~~~~~
Why are you going to have a great day today? Go on and brag!
Are you superstitious?
    I use sugar and creamer in my coffee….It’s my guilty pleasure!
    I love finding money in random pockets…putting my winter coat on in the fall is the best…there is usually money hidden in one of them!
  2. Comment Callout
    I’m not really superstitious at all but sometimes I do believe in karma! I also have some Catholic guilt in me…lol.
    Having a great day here! Well, it’s my birthday, so maybe that’s why. ;)
    I sometimes add protein powder to my iced coffee – think chocolate protein powder + coffee = iced mocha!
    Before 7:30 this morning I: ran 4.9 miles, took the pup for a 3 mile walk, made almond butter, swept and got ready for the day. Today is either going to be very productive or I am going to crash and burn soon! I hope it is a good productive one!
    I am going to have a great day because I’m about to leave for a job that I love, followed by a Farmer’s Market at one of the colleges. Farmer’s Markets are a huge deal to me because we don’t have an actual Farmer’s Market like in other places, so this new idea at the college should be good. It’ll be my first time checking it out, so I can only hope that they have a nice selection.
    Isn’t it great when you find some money like that? :)
    I drink my coffee only with milk, but I do occasionally like the sweet indulgent coffee
    Oh, breakfast and lunch look good! I might have to make that breakfast for myself this morning. I had a green smoothie yesterday for breakfast.
    I had to laugh about the great day. My son is disabled and I sing to him before summer school. Of course I sing the song, “Hey, hey…it’s going to be a great day.” He loves it and always smiles when I do it.
    As for me, I am getting my hair cut/colored today. It’s ALWAYS a great day when your hair looks great. I’ve been invited to a charity luncheon honoring Mom’s of sick children on Sunday so I want to look good. (P.S. I bought a new dress at Von Maur’s-one of your stores!)
    Today’s going to be a great day because I get to watch Real Housewives of NJ that I DVRed last night – one of my guilty pleasures.
    Also I’m making Cooking Light’s Almost Meatless Sloppy Joes – can’t wait for a messy dinner!!!!
    And in my coffe – I like Splenda and a little skim milk. I just do NOT like almond milk in my coffee.
    Yeah for finding money in pockets!
    I am not superstitious but I do very strongly believe that everything happens for a reason.
    I use a Hazelnut Non-Dairy “Creamer” in my coffee most of the time when I make coffee at home… If I order coffee while I’m out I usually get 1 cream, 1 sugar.
    Seriously need to work on being a morning runner again – these temps are killing me!
    awesome!! it’s pouring here today, which is usually a set up for a bad day, but im wearing a new shirt, just made a cup of coffee (instant vanilla nescafe! haha don’t judge), and i have a pretty bamboo plant to stare at on my desk! i’m also having a beet and goat cheese salad for dinner tonight – so that’s reason enough to be happy! your mini larabars are so cute!! jealoussss.
    and please don’t think this is weird: i had a dream about you last night! hahah i dreamt i saw you at a restaurant for one of your friends’ bachelorette parties and we got to talking. haha oh the way the mind works.
    I have a Keurig and I do the same thing to make iced coffee! I sually make it the night before. I use splenda and milk in mine. I actually save my Dunkin’ Donuts coffee cups to re-use because I enjoy drinking it out of a straw in what I think of as a “real iced coffee” cup rather than my travel mugs with straws, etc. I like to use them for smoothies on the go, too! (Just toss the cup!)
    Yay for finding money in your pocket! That is always a great way to start the day imo :-) I also believe that everything happens for a reason, but wouldn’t call myself superstitious. My boyfriend on the other hand is TOTALLY obsessed wih it. He loves baseball so I am pretty sure that is where it comes from. He will not go anywhere NEAR a black cat which honestly I find sort of hilarious. I used to feed a stray one back at my old apartment and he would FLIP.OUT. when he saw it on our patio. Poor cat, I think she was more scared of him haha
    I’m going to lay by the pool today & then go to a wine tasting tonight–not too bad!
    I’m not particularly superstitious, but I do believe in signs. You know, like if the dress I’ve been coveting is 30% off then I should totally buy it. :)
    I’m a little swamped/stressed at work (I’m on a coffee break at the moment), but it should be a good day–It’s my hubby’s birthday! :) Tomorrow will be even better, since my new laptop is supposed to arrive! Hooray!
    I used the iced coffee freezer trick too – I find almond breeze curdles in it so I don’t add it, I only add it at Starbucks as their soy milk doesn’t seen to curdle.
I loveee finding money is old bags, jeans, etc. makes you feel richer even though you had the money the whole time haha. and I MUST try oatgurt soon. and by soon I mean I am making it on thursday morning.     I like your little water bottle! If you’re interested in wearing it check out the fuel belts–they’re so handy and comfy. I put the bottles at my back and secure the velcro at my tummy. It’s a must for those 20 mile runs.
    Today will be great because we’re going swimming! :)
    I’m gonna have a good day because my sister is still in town, and we are having Buffalo Chicken Parmesan and Mac n’ Cheese for dinner! I’m making it up as I go, but I love all things buffalo, so it can’t be bad, right?
    Oh! I love finding money like that! I actually stashed some twenties in my piggybank for wow-factorness when I open her up when she’s full ;) I’m having a great day so far, although my husband is home sick from work. I have some of Lindsay’s crock-pot enchiladas from “Passionate Homemaking” cooking and I’m looking forward to a nice long walk on one of my last “days off”. :)
    Have you ever been on the “Three Farm” open house tour thing at Picket Fence, Northern Prairie, and Prairieland Herbs? I think they have it once a month in the summer, and it’s kind of fun. You can meet the goats that make your cheese! The next one is this Sunday, I guess! Picket Fence has the dates on their website.
    Not really that superstitious. But I’m going to have a great day today for two reasons: 1) We’re going to get Izzy’s ice cream tonight with some friends (Norwegian Chai ice cream is the bomb!), and 2) I heard back from the woman in charge of hiring for the job I applied for, and while they’re behind on going through apps (over 300 people applied!!) she was glad to hear from me and told me to keep connecting with her for updates. So…yay for ice cream and a positive outlook on the job front!
    Have fun with your brother!
    I’m having a great day today because Hunni wasn’t in the office and I got a ton done (we work together as pastors). Usually he wants to read me something he found online and it distracts me.
    And tonight I’m going out to dinner with him and then the gym.
    And I have a great new book to enjoy at the gym and in bed so I’m so excited.
    I love to add Sugar free Hazelnut creamer to my coffee, but after reading the post from Kierstan, I am so going to try the protein powder.
    I love to run in the morning. Hopefully, when school starts back up I can get back on my routine!
    Have a great day!
    PS..thanks for the comment!
    In rare instances, the church uses holy water as part of an exorcism, evicting demons or other spiritual entities from a person or place. It is not uncommon for people, objects, or even homes to be sprinkled with holy water and blessed.
