Alert the presses, it’s officially the wettest summer on record for Iowa! Well actually, no need to alert the press – that’s who I heard it from.
Apparently we had some crazy storms again last night, which I again heard none of, and my Mom and I were hopping over and wading through puddles for the duration of our morning walk. As I was getting ready, I heard the meteorologist announce from the tv that we had surpassed the previously wettest summer – the summer of ’69 ’93 – and were taking the title. Well I’ll be.
Rain aside, I used the permanent filter in my Keurig for the first time today!
I used up all the pre-packaged coffee pods I got for my birthday, but luckily my parents also hooked me up with a reusable filter that you can put regular ground coffee in. All you do is fill up the filter with coffee grounds,
Pop it in its base and screw on the lid.
Set it into the Keurig and brew like normal.
Ehhh, there was some leakage – still need to figure that out – but it tasted just as good as ever! I cannot tell you how much money this thing is saving me. Pre-Keurig, I was going to Starby’s two or three mornings a week. Now it’s one – MAX – and that’s usually on the weekend. Team Keurig!
I made some luscious Raspberry Banana Oatgurt while I sipped on my coffee.
In the mix:
- 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
- 2/3 cup water
- 1 banana (1/2 in oats while cooking, 1/2 on top)
- cinnamon/vanilla
- Raspberry Chobani Greek Yogurt
- Sliced almonds
I didn’t think it was possible for Greek yogurt to get any more delicious.
Then I tried oatgurt. The hot oats slightly warms the thick yogurt and turns it into edible velvet.
Absolutely incredible, I’m telling you!
I am so jazzed to eat the sandwich I packed for lunch today!
That’d be some DiLusso Smoked Honey-Baked Ham, mild cheddar, Dijon mustard and fresh spinach.
This ham is UNREAL. SO sweet and smokey. I just love it!
On a Thin Bun.
I’ve got some carrots & almond butter for crunch,
and a Tropical Fruit Tart Larabar for dessert!
I know I just had breakfast, but I’m ready for lunch!
In other news, did you hear about the Jet Blue flight attendant who freaked out and slid out the inflatable slide off the side of his plane? Apparently a passenger got up to get his luggage down while the plane was still taxiing after landing and, when the flight attendant came over to tell him to sit down, the luggage hit him in the head. When he asked the passenger to sit down and apologize, the passenger cursed him out.
I guess it was the was the straw that broke the flight attendendant’s back because he then completely lost it, cursed out all the passengers over the PA system, launched the inflatable slide out the side of the plane, grabbed a couple beers and slid out before driving home where he was later arrested.
Umm, first reaction? I laughed. I did – but I actually feel really bad for the flight attendant!! Working in the service industry is one of the hardest things a person can do, and I think this guy just had enough. In a world where you hear of people snapping and leaving in violence – I actually applaud him for handling it the way he did. Totally bizarre, but you kind of have to give him props…right?!
Have you ever, or do you work in the service industry? Ever had a day where you felt like inflating the proverbial slide, grabbing a couple beers and sliding away??
