Two New Food Experiences!

44

They say bad things happen in threes. Well I’m two for three and it’s not even 8am! 8O

Well, ok – they’re not technically bad things, rather, more annoying things – but still! First it started raining two minutes into my morning Mom walk, then the cream I poured into my freshly brewed, delectable vanilla biscotti coffee curdled.

Rats!

Thankfully breakfast was better. It incorporated Justin’s Almond Butter!

DSC_0006

I’ve been hearing about the magical properties of Justin’s nut butter for ages around blog land, but have never been able to find any myself. A friend of mine, who has access to the goods, offered to send me some to try and I promptly agreed! :D

DSC_0011

I knew exactly which one I wanted to try first – Justin’s Maple Nut Butter. Of all the varieties, I heard this one was the best!

DSC_0010

I sqeeeeeezed,

and drizzled.

DSC_0002

UMMMMM – this is honey roasted peanut butter’s almond counterpart!!!!!

DSC_0003

It’s got that homemade, gritty texture and oh-so sweet honey/maple taste.

DSC_0005

3/4 of the pack went onto a sliced Pink Lady Apple and banana, the other 1/4 went straight to the kisser. I hear Justin’s is expensive, but if you have access, I highly reccommend. Thanks Chelsea!!

DSC_0008

I’ve got a very interesting lunch today. Mostly because it includes a Pluot!

DSC_0013

70% plum and 30% apricot, the pluot is said to be super sweet and is sometimes referred to as a “dinosaur egg” because of it’s spotted appearance. Ben and I spied them at the grocery store this weekend and could not pass them up. I’ll let you know what I think. :D

DSC_0015

Also got a Kitchen Sink Salad!

DSC_0021

In the mix:

  • Mixed greens
  • Carrot
  • Roma tomato
  • Dried cranberries
  • Chopped almonds
  • Pepper Jack cheese

DSC_0022

 Tast-ay!

DSC_0018

Ok, I’ve cooled down. The sun is now peeking through the clouds and since I didn’t go on my walk, I now have time to go get a coffee before work! A friend of mine gave me a Caribou Coffee gift card that I think I’ll use. I used to drink C’bou all the time when I lived in Minneapolis – there were more locations there, where it’s HQ’d, than McDonald’s it seemed – but it’s sort of fallen off my radar. I love that they have sugar-free caramel syrup, which is exactly what I think I’ll get in my delicious iced latte. YUM!

Just in case I still need convincing that this day will turn out fine, I’ll stare at this picture of my nephew for awhile. Heart. Breaker.

Happy Tuesday from Finn and me! :D

Today is going to be a good day because the humidity is going to break! I teach and the school was H-O-T yesterday! (My room was not 90 degrees like the lady across the hall but still hot.) It is tolerable now, by afternoon should be GREAT. And I got a great workout with Total Body Toner by The Firm before work.

I hear that Justin’s will be soon available at Whole Foods!! I’m not sure if you have one nearby but if I spy it at mine, I’ll be sure to let you know! I actually saw a container of Justin’s Chocolate Almond the other day at TJ Maxx.

But anyway, as always your salad looks fantastic and puts my grocery-day PB&J to shame.

I just saw Justin’s AB at Target in Ankeny last night! It looked like the individual packets were sold out, but they still had it in jars, it was a little pricey, but maybe it’s worth it!

Today is going to be a good day because it’s the final day of summer vacation, and school starts tomorrow!

I adore Justin’s Maple Nut Butter. (I eat it straight out of the jar!) I was introduced to it by my cousin who lives in Texas. She gets her butter at Super Target stores. Maybe there’s a Super Target near you?

I haven’t tried the other flavors, though, so would love your opinion on them!

My husband is an ingredient food broker, and he recently went to a food show where he MET JUSTIN!! You would have thought he met Oprah or something by how excited I was when he told me! The best part, though, was that he brought me back nut butter samples :o P
Oh, and I think pluots are amazing!! They are right up there with nectarines as one of my very favorite summer fruits!
