Got my hair did after work!
I love having my hair this short because all I need to do in the morning is dry it with a round brush and go. It’s light, springy and ideal for traveling!
Afterwards I worked on dinner featuring this Tasty Bite Pad Thai Simmer Sauce. Unfortunately, this Tasty Bite product wasn’t so tasty…
I’ve given rave reviews to both the Tasty Bite Good Korma and Satay Partay sauces. Not only were they incredibly flavorful, but each sauce is vegetarian with no preservatives. Plus the ingredient list can’t be beat.
Tonight version started no differently then the others. I sautéed some chicken breasts and broccoli,
then added my pad thai sauce,
and water,
then stirred and popped a lid on that baby for 10 minutes, stirring every so often.
While my simmer sauce…simmered…I couldn’t help but nibble on these un-freaking-believable Boulder Canyon Hummus & Sesame Tortilla Chips.
Ummmm – these might make my Top 5 favorite chips ever. EVER.
They’re really dense, yet extremely airy. UGH SO GOOD. Hey, the Eiffel Tower!
At any rate – 10 minutes later I plated up some chewy brown rice and topped with my chicken & broccoli Pad Thai!
Wah-wah. Sigh.
Sure, it had a great ingredient list and the fact that there’s no preservatives, etc in there gave it a little bonus, but it was just ok in the taste department.
It was a little too sweet for my liking and missing that classic, peanutty taste I look for in a really satisfying Pad Thai.
Oooo, it was spicy too! I didn’t hate that actually, just thought you should know.
Eh – you win some, you lose some – don’t ya’ Tasty Bite!? I’ll be back for more Korma & Satay, for sure.
Tonight, I am venturing back out into the world to run some errands. Hoping to be back before the sun sets – you know how I turn into a pumpkin when it gets to be too late!
Have a good night!

Tell me about your last kitchen mishap, bad product or dish gone wrong!
On Sunday I used a different bowl than I normally do to nuke my oatmeal – this one had really high sides – and it ended up funneling the frothing oatmeal up as it cooked, over the sides of the bowl, and ALL over the microwave plate. Fail.

how do you manage to ALWAYS look gorgeous?! in every picture!!
that’s too bad it wasn’t good…because it looks super tasty!
I used to make oatmeal at work, and I HATED when it would overflow. Ugh.
I went to make sweet potato blondies the other night– massive disaster! Tasted burnt and salty… epic failure! http://www.non-existentcolors.com/2010/08/well-burn-my-blondies.html
I attempted to make oats in a jar…not thinking that I should probably not heat up oats in a PLASTIC jar in the microwave for 2 minutes. epic.fail. You live, you learn…and you take pictures of the mistakes along the way! haha
First, I really enjoy your blog! Your attitude towards life, balanced eating, and exercise is refreshing and helps keep me consistent in my own life! As far as cooking disasters, I live at 9200 ft in Wyoming (hey, it snowed today, yes really) and there is only one chocolate chip cookie recipe that works up here, otherwise you end up with flat, greasy pancake blobs. Until I found the Ultimate High Altitude Choc. Chip cookie recipe, making them was a disaster! For any other high altitude people out there, here’s the link http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Ultimate-High-Altitude-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies/Detail.aspx. Have a great night!
sorry to hear about the not-so-tasty pad thai…it looks good though.
and cute haircut!
i love your haircut! too cute!
I hate when a reliable brand doesn’t live up to every product. Hmmm, I can’t recall the latest kitchen fail, but there have been many. It comes with cooking, just have to expect a few thorns in a bed full of roses!
I loved my hair short but it honestly took more time to style than it does long! I had to straighten the HECK out of it because it was so short that there was no weight to hold it down. And curly? I looked like a had a permed bob on my head! haha. Cute, but work for me. Love yours though!!
cute haircut
this wasn’t a cooking fail but this morning i poured too much coffee in my cup (not enough room for cream) and then attempted to pour it back in the pot. ummm, that didn’t work so well. coffee ALL over the counter, the dishwasher, and the floor. not so fun.
There was a taco turkey meatloaf recipe that was floating around the food blog world a few months ago. I had never made meatloaf before, so I thought I’d try it out. Dis.gust.ing. It was so awful! I will never even try to make a type of meatloaf again!
I boiled my coffee over in the microwave yesterday morning. Today I somehow messed up making coffee in a drip coffee maker and ended up making a pot of slightly brown water instead. Sigh.
Your hair is sooooo cute! I wish I could pull that off! Hmmm I don’t cook that often, but definitely charred some roastes B Sprouts and Broc the last time around. Dang.
Cute hair! I love getting my hair cut. I had a kitchen mishap on Sunday…for some reason a cake I made overflowed in the oven and got all over the place and burned. I’m dreading having to clean it.
You make me want to cut my hair short!
You look really cute with that hair!
Me and my microwave hate each other, I exploded so many things in it, I should stay away from it for the rest of my life
I hate when you have high expectations for a meal and it doesn’t come out as planned. Your meal still looks tasty, even if it wasn’t!
You are so gorgeous!!!
My last kitchen mishap was quinoa. I under cooked it and it was way too chewy and dense. Oops.
Tweeted yesterday about accidently adding stevia leaves to a salad (thought I was adding mint. Talk about being too sweet! Ick!
Cute hair! Sometimes I want to cut my hair super short so that I can have a speedy get ready time, but I dont’ think I quite have the face for it! You look great with short hair, though!
